The romance is reasonably well done, nothing much to complain there at all and I also enjoy how the protagonist doesn't simply have every single possible power and jutsu and yadda yadda... he has what he has and he's really strong with it. 

But everything else just doesn't... connect. The political dealings and interactions try to be too smart and it just falls flat.

The worse is how there will be the lines of dialog, right? And then for each and every line there will be a paragraph or two explaining in excruciating detail exactly why, when, what does it mean and everything else the character could possibly mean by those 5 words that were said. And it WILL repeat it over. And over. And over again.

And either it gets more unbearable as the chapters go by or it actually does in fact becomes more proeminent in latter chapters. I suppose if you just read the dialogue and skip most everything not in between " " it could perhaps be a way better read.
