The tall, dark, and subjectively handsome main character of I'm Just the Guard!. He was created by P!gL3t and his sole purpose is to protect Elden Keep. Like a regular Player, he can gain levels and skills but, unlike a Player, he is still bound by code and cannot leave the keep grounds.

A female NPC whose code was altered from interacting with Flake. She was formerly a Guard who regularly accepted bribes from Players in exchange for being kept alive. Her increased intelligence granted her some magical affinity, although it went unused before her Awakening.

An extremely talented hacker who found Raidscape when looking for an MMORPG with intense, NPC presence. As a youth, he read many sci-fi books featuring sentient AI taking revenge on humanity for the way it was treated. Instead of being horrified, he became intrigued by the concept of games with living, breathing (as much as a bundle of code with emotions can breathe) NPCs, and set out to alter a somewhat popular game to make his ideas come to life.

A male NPC spawned to replace Crystal when she left Elden Keep. He's young and inexperienced with being a guard, which makes him an easy target to Flake's uncalled for bullying. As Flake's infectious code spreads, Frost's AI was targetted rather heavily, making him experience being 'alive' far quicker than the previous NPCs insofar.

Hobbies: Fondoling his arrows, complaining about the cold ruining his arrows, complaining to Flake about how mean he is.

A brutish Player that's known for doing very little to keep his party members alive, despite often taking the role of the tank. He has interacted with the sentient NPCs multiple times and has won both fights only because he was six or seven times their level.

A young French schoolboy named Jacques who plays Raidscape every chance he can get. He's obsessed with the game, yet is low-leveled due to his lack of skill and frequent deaths. He mooches off of other people's success and is quick to get defensive when called out for his talentless play style.

Elden Keep is a low-leveled castle in the game Raidscape, designed for Players level 5-10 to raid. Normal loot includes 30-50 coins and F-E rank quality items. Special loot includes the normal loot, a random E-ranked spellbook, and a key to the Elden Fortress.
