For a year I would always dream of visiting another world. Living as the marionette of a little slum boy, growing with him.
With that one year that boy became an adult and turned that marionette into a life sized doll, built his own kingdom, and died.
On the day of my retirement I ate some bad lobster and now I find myself in this other world. Not as a visitor but as a resident. Though instead of being a shriveled up old man I turned into a tall faceless wood doll copying the human form.
Now I travel the world, making up for the time I couldn't spend with that boy

I found this gem while I was searching for golem-related fiction. And it baffled me I have read up to the current chapter. It goes without saying, it was a quality work.
Story:
The character/s was well 'fleshed-out' and sympathetic. MC has emotions and was rational. I'll be biased with the tone of the story since I am a fan of action+drama+magic. This story had a heavy-fluffy-feels to it nearing contemporary.
I guess, this is it for now as the story is still ongoing.
[Edit] Room for improvement... I guess more action (interaction) of characters with the world. Basically, environment description. So far I noticed most of the chapters contain Introspection which I also understand since it's written in First Person. Maybe, just maybe... not from that I am a pro but I'd like to read more world-interaction.

A really interesting premise.
Let's start with the negative feedback...
Now let's proceed with the positive feedback...
Recommendations? Well, I have nothing much to say as of now other than it's a good story so far. The author did a great job in portraying the MC in a sympathetic light. Please continue!

This is great.
I can fully recommend this. Let me go through a few things. Hopefully spoiler-free, if needed I will put a spoiler tag.
Characters
Almost every character feels fleshed out, the MC especially is acting according to how you would expect his character to act. Sometimes clumsy, due to inexperience, however mostly rational. We can see that this character is a rahter shy, somewhat broken man --no father, who has experienced a lot of hardship in life and acts accordingly. The other characters all make sense, have their shortcomings and their good points. They live in a world, which is not fully fleshed out yet. However as this work is more focusing on the interactions between people, rather than world-building; I think it's fine like this.
Style of writing
This is very well written, especially some parts of the MC make this very believable
Best example for this is the "drug-induced"/magic-induced talking of MC about his past to the fairie
The pacing is nice, it doesn't feel rushed or overly slow.
World building
So far we have seen some world building but not too much. I believe more will be added due to the travels and interactions our MC has. There definitely has been world building in terms of relations between groups and more, a bit on historical events but the geological/geographical building is missing so far.
I just hope, this doesn't turn into a power fantasy, with the MC having all the power within himself. I highly doubt that this would happen. What I can imagine happens is that he helps people and thus kind of helps in the return of his son's work.
aka his fantasy world son's kingdom

Overall review
If you want a heart-clenching yet heart-warming story of a father on a journey to not only find himself in this new world but also learn to live with his mistakes and better them... then this is the perfect fit for you. I may not be a father, neither a child from an abusive family and yet I still can connect with some of the traits of both the MC and his family. Once again I recommend this to everyone. Give this quite a bit more content in terms of amount of chapters and this is bestseller quality!
