Nicolas Ward, Nic for friends, found himself in a giant pool of blood. And things did not improve from there.
About the only positive thing from the whole experience is that he had drunk so much blood by accident that he met all the requirements to become a [hemomancer].
Join Nic on his attempt to survive in a world hell bent on killing him.
There are monsters, murderers, mages, maniacs and all-around bad guys.
All in a world that should have given up long ago but somehow keeps on living.
With bastards and bandits running amok he spends every waking moment trying to survive this run-down shitty ash covered wasteland.

Status: ch033 – do the worm
      Jul 11, 2020

A well written chaotic other world adventure story with an interesting main character and a nice sidekick with plenty of humor.

If you like crazy fantasy adventure stories then this is probably for you. If you prefer the psychological deep going 500 kilometers/miles into character motivation and talking about nothing but intrigue this is probably not it. There is enough intrigue to make the story more interesting but no more than that.

      Also, did I mention humor?

      Status: ch028 – fight like a mage
      Jul 6, 2020

I'll start with my conclusion and work backwards from there:

This is a fantastic novel and a shining example of the potential of Isekai and litRPG as genres.

      Now for my reasoning.

      • The main character is believably written
      • The dialogue is snappy and humorous while still feeling natural
      • The scenery leaps off the page into your minds eye and feels real despite the fantastic elements.
      • the descriptions of combat are as easy to follow as they are evocative and gruesome
      • The game like elements are self consistent and satisfying in that 'numbers go up' way that draws many people into litRPG
      • The story is compelling and keeps a fast pace without leaving the reader behind.

I can find little fault with this fiction and I recommend it wholeheartedly so long as descriptions of violence, strong language, and other similar dark themes do not bother you.
