Synopsis

Does true love even exist anymore?

I devoted everything to her, she was the pearl in my palm, I would even sacrifice my life for her. Everything I did, I did for her love. To meet her expectations yet...what awaited me was the cruelest of betrayals.

Was I wrong?

All I asked was to be accepted to have my feeling reciprocated. Is that too much to ask for?

There is nothing left for me in this world, all that I’ve given can never be returned. That’s why...it’s better to just abandon it all.

Maybe the next time I open my eyes, a better world awaits.

The story is good overall, but several problems ruin it.  The author seems to have come up with a good concept and outline but introduced plotholes in the actual writing.
    Spoiler

    div>

    • Like how did NO ONE tell him he was learning magic the wrong way?
    • Why didn't his father try to make use of his obviously talented son?  I'm not saying the old asshole would LOVE his son, but useful people tend to get pulled in by powerful people.
    • Why does he consistently react the wrong way and make stupid decisions?  His interactions with people and the way he uses his power just seem off.
    • The MC (someone reincarnated from a 1st world nation on Earth) purchased a magically brainwashed slave, essentially raped her, and then got broody after he released her and she ran away.  His attitude was basically "she never really loved me after all".  No, she didn't, you know why?  SHE WAS CAPTURED, BRAINWASHED, AND RAPED!  The whole thing was so screwed up I don't know how the author could pen something so terrible.

Alright ten chapters... time for the shaming. Honestly speaking I can so no major flaws. The story follows a reasonable pace, the MC has a brain, the writing style is smooth with a great flow, and the grammar is on point.

The start is great and while things do slow down a bit the author does a good job presenting information in a natural and interesting way using the charectors perspective.

Five stars for now but that might change in the future as so far there are only 10 chapters but so far it's a great start.

The story is written very well. Even though it can get depressing at times dont let that take anything away from it.

LotA is an interesting read, to this point. In the beginning when I started, I had maybe one or two brief points of confusion; but it did clear up as I kept reading. This wasn't what I traditionally read before, and while the 'Prologue' type beginning is skippable without ruining the rest of it, I did read it nevertheless. (Skip the next spoiler if you don't like to be spoilt.)

    Spoiler

It opens on a betrayal in a relationship, driving the MC to end his own life... in rather dramatic fashion. I hope, in all seriousness, no human takes this chapter to heart as something to do also. Aside from that... when it came to the end of the MC's life, the stretched out paragraph spacing is pretty spot-on.

Also I love how KyoruS set up the characterizations. The MC when finding himself in the new life is confronted finally with a 'doting mother' who genuinely cares for her son. I found this definitely refreshing, in regards to what others skip in terms of the parent/child relationships. At first I assumed a buildup to a mom who would end up 'son-con' but... it never happened (and KyoruS assured me that is not the intent). Like I said, refreshing. And the theme carries out, even through to this chapter ten where I am now.

All in all... it sets a high bar for other writers to follow. I did get 'lost' only temporarily in a couple scene transitions, but did mention them through PM or discord; I find KyoruS to have been a kind person to chat with too, so there's that. I'd suggest to at least give this a try if you're not wanting the same old cookie cutter reincarnation story.

I wanted to try rating 4.5 but SH doesn't do halves apparently. On the contrary, I do think dropping down to a 4 would not do it justice too; so for now, it gets the full "5 star" treatment from me. I hope it continues on in as genuine a pacing as KyoruS can give it. Kudos to you, KyoruS!

Edit: I am at chapter 21 now and will say I still feel this about the story. While I would have like more exposition on why the elves are demeaned as 'barbaric' it's KyoruS' story so I'll just say I'm still reading....

I read until chapter 52, and nothing interesting in the story happens until chap 27. The chapters prior to 27 are really boring and are just a series of MC being annoying af and a creep, spiraling into self hate constantly.

The MC is unredeemable and has zero likeable qualities or traits. He has the background of an engineer, but it doesn't impact at all how he acts or the decisions he makes in the novel. He acts like an emo teenager despite having the memories of being a middle aged adult, which doesn't make sense. Honestly it makes more sense if you "fix" his background to be 'a high schooler who got cheated on and kills himself.' later on in the story he grows to resent the FL and wants to choke and abuse her, because she demonstrated more talent at swordsmanship showing extreme fragile masculinity and really toxic traits.

    Background 1/5

    MC 0/5

    Grammar 4/5

Writing style is a 1/5 until half way through roughly and shows some potential of reaching 3/5

    Plot 1/5

Overall I can't in food faith give it anything higher than a 1/5.

This novel isn't enjoyable to read, I only read so far cause I was on a hate grind.. IE slightly enjoying how frustrated and angry I was at the MC.

(while it says not to do it in the guidelines I will make a note on the author a little bit. From the growth I saw in their writing style and improving plot writing, I think the author Def has potential as a writer and hopefully they will continue to improve their writing, just not with this particular novel as it would be extremely difficult to turns things around given how unlikeable the MC has turned out to be) have a wonderful day

Ps. It says I'm on chapter zero because I didn't add before I read it

It's very well made. The author has wonderful writing, way better than most that I've seen here. The plot is good, he's able to tell a coherent story filled with incredible storytelling and able to delve into the characters. The characters aren't just 2 dimensional cliché archetypes, although they're not the best, it is very promising. The MC is quite infuriating to read in the middle part of the story though it's just my opinion. I just don't like reading the MC getting beaten up to the ground all the way to the other side of the Earth.

Overall, I would recommend this novel. The only downside to this novel other than the MC (which I hope will grow) is that the author has not written a new chapter yet so Kyoru, please write.

Overall I think this is a well written book, and the grammar is good. The beginning is really hard to get through, the protag is really unlikeable. The story arcs were well done overall, and he had some pretty okay characters. I would  recommend this to anyone who likes fantasy.

I think the characters have quite a bit of room for growth, I also feel like the world is well developed.

    Why I dropped this series.

    Spoiler

I have a lot of issues with slavery personally, and I feel like this system has well crossed that line. I hate slave harem novels, as I feel like it is an homage to slavery and paints it in golden light.

Saw a review how MC is observant let me tell you he isn't he were observant he would have observed more and hired a teacher who could have taught him better if he were observant he would have why a particular marquees family is good in combat magic

The magic in the novel is written splendidly and you also get a side story about the woman who cheated on him but the novel is too slow it seems like the author is trying to build something interesting but fails so miserably

Although MC seems mature by how he talks he isn't by his actions and his indecisive thought he tries hard to do do things but failshas mysterious power but fails to show them

    Overall this novel is slow

I feel like the history only begin around chapter 30.... The progress of the history is very slow, the chapter releases as well... With the history in this speed the author should release 2 chapter per week or make the chapter bigger, but whatever
