Hanbal dies of cancer while praying to any and all gods who are willing to wast their time to help him. He is the descendant of Egyptian gods and has meditated for a significant portion of his life. When he died his wish finally reached some gods of distant universes.
The god of Earth had died over five centuries ago but before he died he didn't remove the seal preventing other gods from interfering with Earth. Since gods are where religious power came from. all power was sealed when he died. Hanbal's meditation didn't actually do anything to help him, although because of his ancestry a power was created, it was still sealed and unusable.
Although there may have been others that were descendants of gods, meditated for long periods of time, or prayed during their death, none of them had all three.
The combined power let the other gods hear his prayer, and they answered.
