So many of the other stories on this site have trigger warnings for everything, I wasn't expecting this story (with none) to be quite so vicious. It seemed like the protagonist was threatened or actually beaten in at least half of the chapters, only saved at the last minute. There were times that I had to push myself to get through to the hopefully happy end. It probably doesn't help that I am in an emotional spot with my own transition and dealing with lack of parental support.
That said, this was a very well written story. The dynamics of the many characters all made sense, even if many of the characters, including the MC, behaved poorly it was understandable. It makes the redemption arc more believable and the ending that much more satisfying.
