Status: chapter 28: appointed’s meeting

If you like OP protagonists in a litrpg world, this protag may be too OP for you!  (All the while complaining about how weak they are)

I can't anymore, I tried.  The slice of life stuff was decent but as it started move more and more into action/rpg stuff... well the MC just kept getting more and more cheats/blessings and the already low tension of danger just kind of petered out into boredom.

Honestly it sort of became like watching a streamer playing a game with a bunch of cheats turned on walking through a game and pressing 'A' once in a while.
So the setup wasn't bad.  Kid and his adopted sister find out there grandfather is from another, more magical dimension setting up for first contact with earth.  Which is neat.

They go into isekai world and get their stats/growth measured.  Adopted sister has max stats! (10 per level in everything)

MC has the lowest (1 per level) but then the MC gets a class that is a combination of blue mage, shapeshifter, and summoner (of monsters they slay).  With the 'unfortunate' side-effect of turning MC into a girl.

But adopted sister is secretly a lesbian (Nice!) and MC still likes girls (double Nice!)   and they've always sort of liked each other but due to gender differences, nothing came of it.

The class right there could have put the MC on even footing with their love interest eventually.  Maybe not in a straight up fight but said MC could basically fill any role the party needed with a bunch of weird skills.

And all this?  This right here?  That could have been a good story.  MC has to deal with not being the strong guy protecting his love interest at first, slowly grows in power to match her (ish) and then love interest would have to learn the same thing.  Or at least to depend on MC as well.

Buuuuuut in between learning about the MC's terrible stat growth and getting the class?  He was blessed by the goddess of luck.  So that anything that depends on chance... automatically succeeds.  In a game world.  Yep.

For you D&D types, a blur spell with a chance to make attacks miss?  Congratulations, no attack will ever touch you again.

1% chance to reflect all damage done to you back at attacker?  Congratulations, you're now god (the MC did not get anything like this up to where I read to be fair.  But really >=|)

And, not only does this effect drops but the MC gets a reverse greed sensor where whatever they want to drop, will drop (as long as it can at any rate).  And in this world, you get some standard skills for whatever switchable class you have and the rest all come from random dungeon rewards so...  Not only could the MC farm for specific skills from monsters, but they could just waltz into dungeons and pick even more rare skills.

And then, to follow up that, the gods of both heroes and war are like 'we are going to optimize you so let us control your drops.

At which point I'm wondering why even bother.  It's like creating a character on an MMO and then just... letting someone else play them.

The straw that really broke the camels back for me though was after merging with an actual goddess with no repercussions, the MC complained about how weak they were.  And it's just... your stats don't even matter anymore.  Reality bends to your whim to strike your foes.

As an aside though, I completely disagree with 'unarmed claw fighter' being the optimal choice for a build.  Stack buffs/debuffs/hots/dots that should only belong to dungeon bosses and then use a bunch of dungeon bosses as minions.
TLDR; Had some interesting ideas, could have been good.  As a slice of life it was fine, had the action elements been kept in the background.  But they weren't and the sheer OPness of the MC made it boring.

I was enjoying the story until it got to a certain point.

    Spoiler

After he (Thomas) became a she (Tess) suddenly everything is suddenly fine when it comes to being together. While relationships are complicated and I'm far from the most experienced with relationships. I can only see it as she (Ellie) didn't like her (Tess) when she was a guy and it makes me feel like if you can't like someone at their "worst" you don't deserve them at their "best."

I've seen other such things before and it's always been a turn off for me. But if the above doesn't bother you go ahead and enjoy it was pretty good otherwise imo. 😉

And I think I drop this here at ch 10.

    Spoiler

Thought there would be weak to strong not overpowered protagonist all over again I'm quite bored of those stories and luck. God luck as stat in stories is such a huge plot armor story is legit going down and then there is Gods just spoon feeding everything. Thats a huge nop for me. Also having powerful people giving golden spoon does not make it nice only make story look flat as chinese novels (this is not anywhere near a chinese novel cause it at least has characters and actual humans with emotions) also would like to know how protagonist would be if luck disappearance with no powerful grandpa helping with powerful adventures and no gods giving any help.

    [collapse]

As a slice of life and chill girl love thing it's quite okay but I didnt expect it to be only just that. Characters are written quite okay not the best but really not the worst and honestly quite far from the worst ones

    Spoiler

I would honestly read it if not the overpowered/luck/gods helping/ and some strong people just giving everything to protagonist. What can I say I just got tricked by tags anyways if you guys love reading weak character getting everything to become op for no reason go ahead and read this and I know some of you guys like imagening yourselfs as overpowered protagonist so its good story for that but as actual story just skip this and save your time

I am really enjoying this book and thought I would try my hand at a review. It is very well written with VERY few grammar mistakes, so you won't have that issue pulling you from the story as you puzzle over the mistakes.

The story at this point in time is mostly Slice of Life (IMO) that is slowly moving into a little more action/adventure. The pacing feels good for this type of story as well. For me, it has a good balance of LitRPG tables in it, though I do wish for an updated stats table for Tess and Ellie. So far beyond the first time we saw them, all we see are skills they have acquired. The interactions and relationships between the characters feels real and not forced.

    Anywho, give it a read!

To all the new readers interested in this story:

Don’t believe the weirdo reviews, this is a really great story, and some people are butthurt that it doesn’t do what they want it to do.

From a technical perspective, this story is great, the dialogue feels natural and flows well, the description of locations and actions are well explained, making it easy for someone to follow and imagine as they read. The worldbuilding is surprisingly great, especially when reading the authors notes at the end of the chapters, it is really clear that this setting is well thought out and loved.

The story is another strong point, with characters growing at a believable pace, conflicts being resolved is a meaningful way, and the story moving along in a way that feels well paced, never rushed or lackadaisical. The world feels lived in, to the point where I would love to see more stories set outside of our core cast, following the exploits of various people that don’t get a lot of screen time otherwise.

For my personal notes, I admit I’m new to the LitRpg genre, so it took me a while to wrap my head around the ways damage, health, stamina, and other stats actually work when describing ‘real’ people (as opposed to game characters.

I HIGHLY recommend a read, this story is just plain fun and it’s pretty cute to boot.

Pros: good grammar. Good spelling. Some adventure. Moderately interesting System function. Cons: Characters read like low/no testosterone males. Dialogue is FILLED with small-talk, pleasantries, and babying of the sensitive characters. Strange plot hole encompassing the whole universe:

    Spoiler

the administrator gods wage war via proxy mortals, yet said mortals "cannot be game-breakingly strong" (paraphrasing)

    [collapse]
MC has a self-furry hobby with the excuse being that it is due to the desire to have ears which might be normally more capable of almost achieving their already-excellent hearing. The ancient gods largely behave like silly young adults.

This story is in my opinion one of the best stories I've come across online. The characters are well written, even if some of them are less fleshed out, and while some of the dialogue can seem stale, it isn't. The concept of "Champions of the gods" works well for the setting, which took me a while to get behind when I first found this story.

    Either way, 5/5 stars.

I really love outlands, the story is incredibly detailed.

and the characters are fully developed.

I am so looking forward to reading many more chapters.

it didn't take me long to get to chapter 81.

I'm finding myself hard to wait for more.

    a couple of recommendations.

repeating the same stats too many times makes the story repetitious.

some artwork for the characters would be appreciated.

I understand the best creative writers don't have art skills, but maybe somebody might help you out with that.

keep on writing I love your stories.  I give the story five stars.
