Kenji Tanaka burned out. Literally. After dying from overwork, the meticulous Japanese accountant awakens not in heaven or hell, but in the service of the Demon Lord Valthor the Grandiose. Expecting torture or oblivion, Kenji is instead handed ledgers, expense reports for monster armies, and invoices for cursed artifacts. He quickly discovers the terrifying truth: the Infernal Dominion is broke.
Plagued by Valthor's impulsive spending, logistical nightmares, rampant inefficiency, and warring department heads like the brutish General Gorgath and the arrogant Magus Zaltar, the Demon Kingdom teeters on the brink of financial collapse. Armed only with his spreadsheets, modern business principles, and an unwavering belief in fiscal responsibility, Kenji sets out to do the impossible: balance the budget for world domination.
Through implementing KPIs for kobolds, optimizing supply chains for hellfire, auditing arcane research projects, and navigating demonic bureaucracy, Kenji accidentally starts making the Demon Kingdom more efficient, more profitable, and perhaps even… a slightly less terrible place to live for its lowest-ranking minions. This newfound competence, however, draws unwanted attention – from suspicious heroes baffled by organized demons, from rival Demon Lords envious of Valthor's growing stability, and potentially from cosmic threats attracted to the changing balance of power.
Follow Kenji as he tries to manage apocalyptic budgets, mediate inter-demon conflicts, survive assassination attempts (both bureaucratic and literal), and somehow calculate the ROI on evil, all while desperately trying not to get incinerated by his perpetually demanding boss. He just wanted to balance the books, but now he might have to save the world (or at least Hell's finances) to do it.
