Items
Spiritual Artifacts/Spiritual Weapons

Golden Hand Fan

The golden fan is Jing Shui’s spiritual artifact and helps him focus his spiritual force for better water manipulation. This enhances both his attack and defense abilities.

Double-Bladed Sword

The double-bladed sword is Feng Qinghe’s spiritual artifact. However, using his will and an infusion of spiritual force, Qinghe can mould it into any form he pleases. Such control over one’s spiritual artifact has never before been heard of in the cultivation world.

Celestial Spear Huohua

Huohua is the spiritual artifact of the Unseeing Prince. Both the wielder and the weapon are well-known and their power almost universally acknowledged.

Order and Punishment

The two whips, Order and Punishment, are the spiritual artifacts of the Sentinel Grandmaster. During his initial years as an officer in the Offices of Judgment soon after his ascension to the heavenly realm, the pair of whips gained widespread renown and were both revered and feared by the deities. But after he was raised to the position as the Deity of Judgment and becoming the head of the Offices of Judgment, the whips were seldom used.

Other Items

Golden Strings

The golden strings are Wei Xiang’s weapon of choice and are a part of his spiritual self rather than a separate entity like a spiritual artifact.

The strings were personally crafted by Wei Xiang himself and are an amalgamation of his own blood, bones, talons, solidified spiritual force, pieces of his eggshell, and scales shed during molting, which make up the major component and also give the strings their color. These elements were then smelted together by using the strongest flame capable of being produced by his beast form over the course of several years.

Spirit-suppressing Material

As the name might suggest, it is a type of rare material that can be used to suppress or negate one’s cultivation. Based on the level of its suppression it has been classified into three grades.

Low-grade material is able to suppress the cultivation of people whose levels range up to third realm. Mid-grade material can suppress cultivation between fourth to sixth realm. And high-grade material is able to suppress levels from seventh to ninth realms.

Storage Space/Spatial Storage

It is a small, separate dimension usually removed from space and time, used primarily to store inanimate objects. Time ceases to progress for any item placed in storage spaces, meaning, anything placed within will not get spoiled, dirty, moldy, or damaged due to the passage of time.

Low level storage spaces are usually accessed through wearable items such as rings, waist or necklace pendants, earrings, bracelets etc.

However, high level storage spaces are normally preferred to be bound to one’s body to prevent them from becoming lost, since they often contain valuables. The most common way to bind them to oneself is by making them appear as a dot of cinnabar on the forehead, or a tattoo or design on the skin.

Feng Qinghe’s storage space appears as a mole on the side of his neck, below his left ear, while Wei Xiang’s is a fingernail-sized small patch of seemingly scarred skin on the side of his ankle.

Bone Pearl Flute

The bone pearl flute is currently in the possession of Li Yingzi and was carved untold millennia ago.

The material of its making is called bone pearl, which was formed from the fused and condensed bones of several thousand merfolk. This material came into being when all the dead of the merfolk were buried in the same pit by the rest of their species over the course of several successive generations, causing the spiritually charged bones to react and fuse with each other. Because of the way of its making and its mother-of-pearl luster, it eventually came to be called bone pearl.

The bone pearl flute was carved from this material supposedly by the Master of Oceans, but its true origins remain unconfirmed.

Location
The Five Great Sects and the Righteous Faction

Before the Great War between the righteous and demonic factions long ago, the other four sects were parts of the Heavenly Peak Sect as its four peaks. After the Great War that decimated most of the righteous faction, the various peaks amicably seceded from the Heavenly Peak Sect to form sects of their own. Together, they make up the Five Great Sects standing at the very peak of the righteous faction.

Heavenly Peak Sect

It is the most prominent sect in the righteous faction. It places focus on martial arts and teaches disciples with elemental abilities. It is located high up in the mountains rich with spiritual energy.

Golden Sun Sect

It is the wealthiest sect and deals with matters of trade. Disciples of the sect are sent to various other sects to learn from and thus develop a varied skill set that is then used to help the sect earn money. It is located by the oceanside, overseeing a bustling trading area famous for the quality and sky-high prices of its goods.

Silver Moon Sect

It is situated on an island connected to the Golden Sun Sect by a bridge. The members of the sect all share the characteristic of having silver hair. It mostly teaches formation weaving. There is a subdivision of the sect called Silver Mist that consists of seers who can see past the veils of time and space. But the existence of the Silver Mist is a tightly guarded secret only a very few know of.

Lightning Sky Sect

This sect is for practitioners of alchemy. It is situated on flat plains that are often struck by lightning due to the constant refining of high-level pills within the confines of the sect grounds. This is where the sect derived its name from.

Drifting Clouds Sect

It is situated on an isolated plateau enveloped in a serene atmosphere and leisurely mists. The sect deals with matters of the spiritual realm, specializing in things like exorcisms and resolving supernatural occurrences. The disciples of the sect practice cultivation through various art forms like singing, music, painting, dancing, calligraphy etc. They also produce the majority of the talismans used by the cultivational world.

The Demonic Faction

Nine Gems Sanctuary

The well-known abode of the sect leader of the demonic faction and its most important Elders. Surrounded by forests on all sides, it consists of nine courtyards, each named after a gem. It is where the entirety of the demonic faction is ruled from.

Characters
An YaLing

The first direct disciple and the head disciple of the Drifting Clouds Sect’s sect master. His manner is always warm and graceful. He is known to dote on his junior brother Li Yingzi a lot and is the only one his troublesome junior brother unquestioningly obeys. His ability is related to manipulating sound.

Chen Xiande

The first direct disciple and the head disciple of the Heavenly Peak Sect’s sect master. He is famously known to have targeted and bullied his junior brother Feng Qinghe out of jealousy. He is disdained and ostracized by the sect for gaining his position as the head disciple due to his father’s coercion, which in turn has contributed to his warped personality. He is the one who saved the twins as they were hunted by traffickers on one of his excursions to the mortal world. Later, he is won over and comes to accept his junior brother fully.

Fei Jin and Fei Yin

The twins are the third and fourth direct disciples of the sect master of the Heavenly Peak Sect respectively. They are half-blooded beasts and thus carry certain beast characteristics like small horns, thick and sharp nails, prominent incisors etc. They are mischievous yet ruthless and are very attached to their second martial brother Feng Qinghe, since he was the one who helped them recover from their trauma of being hunted and captured by traffickers and effectively raised them.

Fei Jin, the older twin, speaks in both their stead and has the ability to control lightning. His spiritual artifact is a thin dagger with a straight blade.

Fei Yin, the younger twin, can only speak in a whispery voice with effort due to injury to his throat. He has the ability to control ice. His spiritual artifact is similar to his twin’s except for the curved blade.

Feng Qinghe

The main character of the story and the second direct disciple of the sect master of the Heavenly Peak Sect. He is known far and wide for his efficiency, ability to solve problems, and his combat prowess. He has no memory of his time before being inducted into the orphanage and thus does not remember his family or life before. He uses appearance changing talismans to hide his true features that were noted to attract unwanted attention due to their exquisiteness. He excels at control and precision and has the ability to manipulate wind. His spiritual artifact is a double-bladed sword.

Fu Cangyun

The sect master of the Lightning Sky Sect. He has a solemn bearing and strict features. He is a renowned alchemist, healer, and an expert with poisons.

Hai Liang

A legendary woman who waged war against the pirates plaguing the ocean waters and conquered them all. She now bears the title of Pirate Queen among other names such as the Queen of the Seas, Ocean’s Wrath etc. But despite commanding vessels that were once pirate ships, she helps keep the oceans free of pirates and occasionally even lends her help to the Order of Sentinels. She is the wife of Master Kai.

Hei NingYu

The sect leader of the entire demonic faction and the one who united all the dark arts sects. He is feared and revered by the people of his faction and has kept an iron grip on the demonic practitioners with the aim of suppressing them. Before the descent of the Sentinel Grandmaster, he held the title of Grandmaster, a title that is only given to the strongest in the cultivational world. Now, he is acknowledged as the second most powerful being. He is at the demigod stage and has the ability of Enchantment.

Jing Hao

The older of Jing Shui’s half-brothers and the one promoted to the position of First Prince after Jing Shui’s departure. He supports his younger half-brother in his dastardly hobby in hopes of keeping Jing Rui occupied so that he won’t interfere with court politics.

Jing Rui

The younger of Jing Shui’s half-brothers known for his eccentricity and cruelty. He captures beautiful people who strike his fancy and confines them in his palace where he tortures, toys with, and breaks them. Due to his elder half-brother’s guidance, he sets his sights on Feng Qinghe.

Jing Shui

The first direct disciple and the head disciple of the sect master of the Golden Sun Sect. He is adored by disciples from various sects for both his beauty and tsundere personality. Before being admitted into the Golden Sun Sect, he spent time in the Silver Moon Sect and grew friendly with Wu Xiao and the disciples of the sect. To date, the person he is closest with is Wu Xiao. He wields the water element and his spiritual artifact is a golden fan.

Kong Min

The second direct disciple of the Sentinel Grandmaster. He leads the Order’s informatical group and is a known sexual deviant. He cares for his junior brother a lot, but seldom shows it as he bickers and teases Wei Xiang. His spiritual artifact is a wooden bow.

Lei Zihua

The first direct disciple and also the head disciple of the sect master of the Lightning Sky Sect. She is serious, staid, and known to have high precision in manipulating spiritual power while refining pills.

Li Yingzi

The second direct disciple of the Drifting Clouds Sect’s sect master. He gets along famously well with his senior brother An YaLing and is ever obedient towards him. Otherwise, Li Yingzi is known to have a troublesome and off-putting personality.

Due to circumstances of his past, Li Yingzi is an existence stuck between the realms of the living and the dead, and his physical characteristics attest to that. He needs to absorb yin energy to survive. He is most known for sitting in cemeteries and playing haunting music with his bone pearl flute and scaring the local folk, at which point the Drifting Clouds Sect that specializes in both music and the realm of spirits is called. It often leads to An YaLing having to come and retrieve his junior brother.

Liu Xue

The sect master of the Golden Sun Sect. She is Jing Shui’s master and Wu Xiao’s senior martial sister. She is outgoing and open, but also shrewd when it comes to matters of trade. She uses a weapon that resembles a semicircular saw with a golden handle.

Lu Feiyu

The sect master of the Drifting Clouds Sect. He behaves elegantly with the air of a scholar. He uses white feathers from his late contracted beast and infuses it with his spiritual power for attack and defense purposes.

Master Kai

A famed merchant known to be on par with the Golden Sun Sect in matters of trade and an acquaintance of Feng Qinghe. His name is recognized and holds weight in both the mortal and cultivational worlds, eliciting respect and awe. He is married to the Pirate Queen Hai Liang.

Sentinel Grandmaster

The founder and current leader of the Order of Sentinels. He is a deity who descended from the heavenly realm to search for something. Other than the fact that he is the most powerful being in the world, not much is known about him.

Wei Xiang

The male lead of the story and the third direct disciple of the Sentinel Grandmaster. He is known to be the Grandmaster’s successor and is feared by many for his troublesome personality. In the absence of his master, he takes care of the Order of Sentinels. In the Order, other than his master, he is closest with his senior brother Kong Min despite always seeming to scold and bicker with him. He is the third most powerful being in the cultivational world and wields golden strings that extend from under his wrist guards.

Wu Xiao

The sect master of the Silver Moon Sect. He has distinctive silver hair, a shared feature among the people of his sect. He is Elder Yue’s only disciple, but was raised alongside Liu Xue as a direct disciple of the Golden Sun Sect’s sect master before.

His affections for Jing Shui are well-known and he turns silly whenever in his beloved’s presence. He is a part of Silver Mist.

Xie Xingye

The demonic deity who was unwittingly released from the Valley of the Terrified Dead by Jing Rui. He seeks to devour the world and pry open the gates of Heaven to gain entry again.

Yan Lin

A fellow victim of the orphanage and Feng Qinghe’s friend. After hearing of his death, Feng Qinghe is distressed into forgetting him.

Yue Yi/Elder Yue

The former sect master of the Silver Moon Sect and Wu Xiao’s master. She is eccentric and cheerful, and also very meddlesome. A current member of the Silver Mist, she uses her powerful precognition abilities to nudge things and events in the background, helping people and working towards her ideal of world peace in her own way.

Zhen YiLan

The sect master of the Heavenly Peak Sect. He is a kindly old man who is most fond of his second disciple Feng Qinghe and treats him with special care owing to his traumatic past at the orphanage. In contrast, he is disapproving of his first disciple Chen Xiande, but nonetheless treats him well enough. Unlike most others, he is blind to his beloved second disciple’s scheming nature and thinks of him as innocent. He has the ability to create chimerical constructs out of golden fire and is the fourth most powerful being in the cultivational world.

Zheng Xuan

The black dragon companion of the demonic deity Xie Xingye, and also his lover. His body is excessively scarred, which also makes it difficult for him to speak fluidly. He was the captain of the dragon Sovereign Song Xia’s guard and greatly reveres his queen even after her passing.

Since the main story is over but it may take a while for all the planned extras to be created (*hopes there will be a lot* xD), I decided to go ahead and write a review to show my appreciation and encourage others to give this a read.

Now, preferences are a big deal when it comes to enjoying stories and this novel was more or less right up my alley. I'm not really sure how to put it into words... the setting and names say Chinese cultivation, but the relationship dynamics seem quite different from what I've read so far in that genre. No wonder though, cause the author's not from there.... or are you, author-san? XD

To me, this novel is very wholesome and the fluff is off the charts. I ate so much dog food, I'm not sure if I'm even human anymore xD. But at the same time, there were a few "excuse me wtf" moments and faults in characters' behaviours that beautifully showed that while people aren't perfect, they're growing. I like how this novel generally has a vibe of understanding to it, and empathy for characters in light of their situation and what happened to them in the past. Lol now I kinda wanna copy paste the wall of text I commented after reading the epilogue xD. Well, here we go (I cut the parts that were spoilers) :

Showing both tragic ordeals characters have/had to go through as well as their healing and finding happiness (again), it made me feel the bittersweet beauty of the characters' lives. It was just so heartwarming to see them growing fond of and coming to love someone; and holding them dear whether their relationship be that of lovers, family, or friends. And it was heartbreaking to discover their sufferings; a lot of them really didn't have it easy in the past. Even so, the story as a whole has a feeling of lightness to it. Similar to the MC's character that can be caring as well as ruthless towards others, the people in this story may be made to feel happiness or pain. However, in both, there's an underlying sense of kindness, goodwill and appreciation for life present. The way the characters interacted with each other, mostly without pretense and with a sense of directness, honesty and sometimes vulnerability really drew me in. It made me feel that despite their status/power/position, they were only human, just like everyone else. When characters made mistakes, they were held accountable but not demonized by the people around them, instead striving to educate them and improve the situation for everyone as much as possible.

I hope that wasn't spoilerish... please tell me if it was, author-san :).

Now the characters. The MC is f**king OP xDDD not in an overpowering strength sense (though he's quite good in that area), but more concerning his attitude towards life and people and being able to more or less handle anything that comes his way. Of course, not to such a degree that he'd always come out unharmed - sometimes even the exact opposite. He's very smart, and very calculating, but in a way that almost always benefits the people around him (and himself too of course, though sometimes in a less obvious way). He's just naturally different from other people, and the way he functions and thinks is a mystery to everyone. His personality is quite interesting, and I adore him. Same goes for the ML. And together, they're this OP pair of fluffballs that just can't get enough of each other *squeals* >w<. If you're looking for a novel with a healthy happy relationship, look no further and start reading this xD. There are BL side couples too, and they're all making me swoon in different ways. And bleed from my nose (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) XD if you're a BL beginner, I'd recommend reading sth light first cause this one sure doesn't hide anything xDD. And I'm delighted it doesn't :3 xD they're so wholesome and fluffy, gentle, understanding, protective and supportive owo

I kinda heard that this novel is too fluffy for some people, and while I personally wouldn't agree, it's true that a lot of drama tropes you see in novels in that genre just aren't present here. Rather than being caused by a select few characters with impossibly troublesome personalities, the conflicts in this novel seem to stem from human nature and life itself, and them being simply not perfect. Accidents and mistakes happen, and sometimes life makes you go through more than you want to handle. But those are also opportunities for growth and development, and the characters showed that beautifully. While there are some dark personalities involved in those conflicts, they still get treated more or less humanely (particularly by the MC. Quite a nice change from the MCs being a walking source of death xD). Well, that being said, the fluff is indeed strong in this one. (▰˘◡˘▰)

To bring this wall of text to a close: if you find yourself interested in any of the stuff I wrote above, try it out. You might just be the kind of person that will really appreciate it :)

Tl;dr: 5 stars from me, absolutely love it. Maybe you will too :D

I have read this book till chapter 30 something and the butterflies in my stomach wont stop fluttering.

Although the story is fast paced, it makes sense because the MC is a "no nonsense" person and gets straight to the point.

I continuously smile nonstop as I read and close my face when it gets to the exciting parts... I expect more awesome arcs from this book and more wonderful stories from the author... Well done and keep it up.

Ahh, I didn't know we could review, for some reason. Anyways, I cannot put into words the mind-blowing-ness of this masterpiece. Where to start... First off, the character development was done masterfully. The gong of this story is not one of those r*pey ones in lots of other stories.  The shou is not one of those lost-all-my-brain-cells-when-it-comes-to-the-gong ones in lots of other stories. The characters make mistakes, acknowledges them and fixes them. (cough cough unlike some others cough cough)

This story gave me so many metaphorical cavities too! All the interactions are so cute! And maybe smutty too. The adorable scenes made me smile, the sad scenes made me cry.

I love the extras too. The side pairings were just. Too. Cute! I have read this twice through. Love this story, hope it gets more recognition, love it, bye! Did I say I love it?

Really one of the best stories i've ever read :) I was depressed thinking how not even ONE story could combine smut and consent, I found a treasure here. I love how it's regularly explained, how it's a basics for all the characters, just perfect.I've read a lot of novels and most of them are mistaking exciting s*x with one sided domination, with a "i-say-no-but-i-m-forced-to-and-in-the-end-i-love-it" sh*t. First story I read where a man is able to stop in the middle when the partner changes his mind. How refreshing !

The side characters are cute, the side couples are great, and the main characters are OP but still human.

It's all a story about how to respect each other. Really really great, you won't waste your time reading this.

Okay soooooo, where do I begin?!

This novel is definitely way up in my top 5 of recommendation as well as my all-time favorites. I love fluff, affection, and understanding personalities that merges the relationship together. But, I am also a  person who doesn't like excessive *content* and dislikes any kind of negative things like misunderstandings, cliche tropes like breaking-up and getting together and so so. Though, this novel does have some *content* in there, due to this being so good, I didn't really mind that a lot. I usually just skipped those parts if it is too much for me lol. The way the author got the fluff, nsfw content, and all the character development so together just amazed me. Qinghe and Xiang is my all time favorite couple in the series I've ever read lol.

Absolutely amazing. There's no words to say how amazing this story is besides just saying it's amazing. Every single thing about it just makes it so great. The characters and watching them grow as well as seeing their relationships grow is amazing. The character growth is top tier.

The writing is top tier. Although I'm no English major with my barely passable English skills I can say that I have never noticed a single mistake or inconsistency in the story. Everything seems to tie together perfectly and just *muah* beautiful.

The relationships are my favorite part there's like 3 main relationships and then like a bunch of smaller relationships and every single one is amazing. Like the characters are all so understanding and loveable to their partner. It makes you want to steal their lover but you know you can't cause they love each other too much. Everyone is cute and adorable and amazing and cute and funny and amazing and like freakin adorable it makes me wanna die.

I don't even know what to say anymore and it was just so good Imma cry.

I enjoyed how much description you provided of the settings and characters. I liked how many important characters had a well developed background. The side parings were very interesting. Everything managed to tie itself together to form an amazing story and I didn't find many plot holes. There were minimal spelling and grammatical errors too.

A thing I didn't really like was the lack of other homos*xual pairs aside from those about the more important characters. I remember the story said same s*x parings were common. Shouldn't there be a mention a seeing such couples in passing? I find many BL stories lack such diversity even though it's stated same s*x couples are common (especially when it comes to lesbian couples). Another thing is that I feel like the "villains" of the story should've provided Qinghe and his friends with more difficulties. Maybe try developing their backgrounds more too because some of them felt two-dimensional (is that how they call it). Personally, I find learning about the villain's motives and goals very interesting.

I also have to mention how there's CONSENT in the relationships here. It doesn't feel forced or anything and Wei Xiang is always so attentive when it comes to Qinghe's feelings. It makes my heart melt sometimes. Keep up the good work author!
