This novel’s MC died for me when the mortal ego lost to the immortal ego. I couldn’t help but feel sad as the entire relationship I had developed with the MC had in one fell swoop been reduced to nothing, something that had soured the story for me entirely.

This story tries to be good. It tries to be entertaining. It tries to be cohesive. It tries to be, but never really achieves anything. The sidechapters meander along without enriching the "main" POV. At least the grammar is OK.

The grammar is good and it was a great start. But for me the whole novel endet at chapter 9. Why bother reincarnating, when you discard everything later... I did not like how it went and it doesn't make sense in my opinion. Also I did not like the monk parts. They were to often and I didn't found them interesting.

I want to say that this story is something really special. For me, this is a pleasant and calm reading, there are no parts that I would not like. Slow development and the story does not give quick emotions (like many stories of this genre). Despite this, I want to return to it again and again. The story doesn't look like one that can disappoint, because you don't know what to expect from it, you just read. I can't describe how well it's written, because it's really skilful, the author leads you through this story so smoothly that you just have pleasant. Really unusual for this site, such a story is not expected to be found here. For me, this story is like a walk in the woods or something like that. I am here to support the author, this is my first review~

quite enjoyable to read, there are two plots going at once, and probably will join together at one point in the future, they do help us learn more of the world in the meantime.

      Spoiler

the main character is basically an intelligent kid.

She has the knowledge and thinking capacity of an adult, but trapped by her base instincts - which sometimes overwhelm her capacity to reason - but it's written good enough to be in line with the story

      [collapse]

Overall a good novel, and I highly recommend to try it - I signed up to the website just to write a review and trying to expand the reach of this novel. Good job author, you've got yourself a reader.

The concept this story based on shouldn't be working at all and in my opinion it was a great risk to take from the author's side. I mean, who cares about a caterpillar, right? How would someone make it interesting to read?

Exactly like this here. This story made me actually afraid for a bug, made me sympathise with it, rooting for it. I would never think that a fight scene featuring a caterpillar is something I've ever wanted to read but turned out it was, very much so.

And it is because of the almost flawless storytelling style which made the adventures, or more like daily struggles of the little caterpillar not only an interesting read but a quite enjoyable one. The only issue I could possibly mention is the length of some chapters, but that fairly depends on preference anyway, for my personal taste some of them were a little too long.

The story itself, at least up until the point I am giving this review, is very small and personal, circling around learning and surviving on both character's side, but every chapter hints that something else, something big is on the way.

Hard to say anything about the characters, one of them being a caterpillar with not much going on its life apart from trying to stay alive. Yet, it has a personality under the sheer will to live, a personality engaging enough to make the little caterpillar interesting, which is another sign of how well written the story we are talking about is.

As a lot of writers on the site learned English as a second language, I try to be more laid-back about grammar errors, because I believe the content itself is more important. That being said, I never had to remind myself about this while I was reading this story, is there were issues, the general style and natural flow of the story made me miss them entirely.

Bottom line, I can recommend A World of Monsters to anyone, it's a unique read with great potential.

The story is still developing but it's interesting. The prologue caught my attention right away. It's a little vague but really hits on the Buddhist and Hindu philosophies this is based around.

The plot follows our MC as they're reincarnated into a weak caterpillar and they have to try to survive the harsh world they live in. The system is done well, easy to understand and not too much of it. I also appreciate the 'spoilers' at the end of the chapters that shows the current status of the MC.

While I haven't studied the philosophies this was based around much, it'll be cool to see how karma and the like play into the story. Also, there's another character we follow who has his own challenges trying to build a home.

The grammar is pretty good and doesn't take away from the story. I'd say read it even if you aren't looking for a reincarnation or system story as it has strong beginnings.

Read this story on another site.

I'll admit that I'm not used to reading monster MC stories, especially ones that follow a caterpillar of all things. This story threw me for a loop as I read and introduced me to a strange perspective. The only other story I remember reading as bizarre as this was Cybernetic Dragon, I think.

That doesn't mean the story is bad, though. For something (a caterpillar) that you'd expect to realistically die rather quick in a dangerous world (especially when it's a reincarnated person instead of a natural born survivor), the story flows quite well. There's a lot of spirituality inspiration along with philosophical influences that you catch onto pretty quick.

If any score deserves a 5, it'd be that character score. It's extremely difficult to write MCs that aren't humanoid with any sense of believability when it comes to relating to their situations, but the author pulls that aspect off rather decent. This opened me to a new experience again like CD, and it made me curious to check out more monster MC stories than I usually do.

Overall I'd say that there wasn't really anything structural that I could point out bad. Solid foundation and delivery here for a decent story. Even if the endgame doesn't feel like it's there for me.

Caterpillar boys for life. This story has all the makings of a cheap power fantasy wank story but it doesn't go down route, instead it does something unique and fun. I found myself unable to stop reading this absolute jem of a story from the first chapter and I highly recommend for you guys to read and support it.
