When the highschool counselor Daren Aldrech dies protecting a student during a school shooting, he is told by his angel of death that he does not meet the requirements to to gain divine status and become an angel. Therefore, he is given two options. Either languish as a spirit and eventually forget all his memories, becoming a blank slate to be reincarnated. Or, go to another world of his choice possessing all the memories of his previous life. While there, he can attempt to ascend to divine status without help.

Hearing these options, he decides he wants to go to a world of comic book heroes. It's not like he's a huge comics fan, he just doesn't want to go to a swords-and-magic world that doesn't have proper indoor plumbing. Plus, super powers sound pretty cool. But will he discover that he's bitten off more than he can chew with this deal when he finds out about how unfair the divine as well as the on-the-ground politics are in this new world?

This is my second series which I am doing on the side with a lower release rate (about 1 chapter per week) compared to the 3 per week from "Key to the Void." Both series are part of a shared multiverse which I have decided to call "The pearl-chain multiverse." The Earth in both series happens to be the same Earth.
