Synopsis

After fulfilling the duty all arch necromancers are tasked with, Sylver Sezari was not expecting to ever wake up again.
But he did.
And after crawling his way back into the land of the living, he’s alive once again. In a strange land, a strange time, and with a strange floating screen in front of his new face.
Either through plan or chance, he’s alive again, and planning to enjoy himself to his heart's content.

-The story isn’t grimdark, but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows either. There will be lighthearted and positive moments, as well as some sad ones. That being said, it’s a whole lot more light than dark.
-This is a LITRPG story.

Author’s note:
-It can get very GORY. I’m somewhat desensitized to gore and violence. So while the story isn’t full of gore for the sake of gore, it can get a little too descriptive.
-The MC is a necromancer, so corpses and decay, and all the things that come with it, will be mentioned from time to time.
-I’m a huge fan of Egyptian, Slavic, and Greek mythology, so expect quite a bit of that. That said, so much is altered, you’ll be hard-pressed to guess how exactly it is being used.
-I love plot twists, as much as I love red herrings and Chekhov guns. Deus Ex Machina’s not so much.

I enjoy the story concept and world building, but the main character and pacing are lackluster.

The protagonist being able to overpower guys way over his level, which makes sense being an ex-arch mage lich and all, yet every so often he gets shanked from some random thugs, which breaks the immersion of his power, feeling like it depends on the plot if he is op or ret*rded.

Another aspect is the MC is way too emotional and reckless, 15 to 25% every chapter are MC random thoughts or him monologuing to justify why he acts like an asshole or why a demigod immortal lichlike should care about and "humble" mortal problems, when he could just go to a cave and meditate a few years to get back his powers to a reasonable level to get a margin of security, yet he goes all blind and don't give a sh*t, despite all the red flags, and nearly dies every adventure feels like fraud, is this guy really a mage or a barbarian in a skin?

This story's chapters are very filling with a nice hefty size and little to no filler. This leaves me both satisfied and wanting more (if that makes sense). There are many little surprising twists that keep the novel fresh and different from others of the same genre. The author doesn't go overboard with the twists and make the novel labyrinthine. Often times I find myself chuckling at the humor, but the novel doesn't become too jokey and ruin itself. I just finished the first arc at chapter 46, and I am overjoyed that this author nicely wraps up his/her arcs with no obnoxious cliffhangers.

I enjoy the main character greatly. He's complex and dynamic, but not convoluted. He becomes more than the average protagonist through the trials he faces and the tough and morally questionable decisions he's forced to make. These trials are what show the reader his complexity and his fluctuating thoughts instead of an author just telling us. Yet he remains relatable and likeable after all those hard decisions he makes.

The novel remains firmly centered on the main character and his constantly changing environment, so the other characters receive considerably less appearance in the novel. This causes the other characters to seem a little faint. However, most of the characters feel like real people due to how unique they are and how they don't feel like they intentionally revolve around the MC. They do a little purely because the novel itself revolves around the MC, but they are by no means vapid. Even some of the enemies that appear for only a couple chapters, the ones that have actual dialogue, make me feel like they could be real people because they aren't all the same, they don't all feel like simple disposable evil incarnate, and they don't feel like their only purpose is to be opposed to the MC. Like the

I like to imagine this novel as a canvas where the author is painting the characters with words as his/her paint. Almost every character is well detailed and interesting. Again, they are so because of what they say or do instead of the author just saying, "He/She is tall and has brown hair." It's clear a lot of thought has gone into them, but most of the paint (words) the author had was used on the main character. This is what causes the other characters to feel faint. Especially in contrast to the MC.

But I don't see this as a problem, just a part of the genre. This novel is not slice of life. It isn't about a group of people that hang out together. It's about Sylver, his struggles in a world that is confusingly both familiar and foreign to him, and his quest to find his loved ones. Thus the title Sylver Seeker. In fact, I appreciate this since I find a constant change of POV to be both confusing and distracting. With that said, I still believe that the characters and story will continue to improve with time because that's all they're really lacking. I love the novel so far, and greatly anticipate its continuation.

One of the best stories, I've read on this site so far. The tempo is right, the characters and the background are well fleshed out. Seeing the main character grow and gain friends while he is going on adventures is entertaining. Even though, a necromacer does gross things and the "gore" tag is there for a reason, it is written in a way that is non repulsive and the author finds the right balance.

Having read through the first book, I definitely hope for the next chapters to op up soon. If this comes out as a real physical book, i'll try to get my hands on it.

The story is pretty good, but is held back by a fair few things from true greatness.

Early on there's a massive lack of simple world building, then it starts having good world building around chapter 100, and is later held back by shoe horned world building, which is shoe horned in a way that makes little sense in the context of the story. The main character has a well defined personality which prevents the story from being too stale, however I'm not a fan of how it starts getting altered in an aggravating way later on.

The side characters aren't the best I've seen, but they are far from the worst. The vast majority of them don't have any personal goals that we know of and we aren't given anything but the basics for their backstories. It's made a little weird by the fact he befriends basically everyone who has a conversation with him and would do anything for them. Made less interesting and more interesting by the fact none of them have a personality to abuse that power, while also, sadly needlessly, covering that flaw by him being an incredibly scary guy to those that would.

The power scaling and power progression is also incredibly inconsistent and quite poor. You get the sense that there is no situation where the MC couldn't just brain his way out of, and there are no good examples of things he really wants to do but doesn't have the strength for to look forward to. Due to his attitude large things that apparently set him back decades to slow his power progression come across as minor inconveniences for you to forget and have a random commenter bring up 50 chapters later as to why he's so weak.

One rather big upside is we're given strange miniature infodumps here and there about various magic related things, that eventually culminates in a pretty good magic system from what I can tell. It certainly walks all over the majority of other stories recommended for their magic system.

Overall it was a good read and I'd highly recommend it. I give it a 4. At it's peak I was debating giving it a 5.

To sum it up, I got bored out of my mind by how everything was being stretched and dragged on like a dead horse. With that out of the way, I will explain things in detail for anyone to hopefully understand my perspective.
    1. The pacing is awful and utterly snail pace to the point you will be surprised by how such a thing can take chapters to finish. It wasn't the worst I have read so far, but pacing-wise, it is among the top.
    2. The MC is rather bland, he is practically trying to be the most logical and rational in the room yet at any given moment, this illusion of rationality is shattered by how often he suffers emotional breakdowns and is utterly impulsive with no prior thoughts. The MC didn't have much redeeming quality except being weirdly enough utterly honest, pretty efficient at what he had done due to cheat (reincarnated), and can be a smooth communicator occasionally. However, my worst issue with the MC was him being a passive plots slave. For most of the story being unfolded so far, he is practically letting everything drag him here and there with minor personal input on what to do and how to progress the story.
    3. The side characters so far are not bad, but they are not stellar by any means and most almost fall into the one-dimensional category which fortunately they didn't.
    4. The story hasn't explained much until 120 chapters in, to be exact there is not much progress in the main story (as in the MC's biggest goal) because he keep being dragged around by the plot conveniences to deal with so many and mostly irrelevant sub goals all around the place like a completionist grind set.
    5. The power scaling is outright an afterthought by the author because it is practically incomprehensible. I can't explain well enough how bad it gets simply because it is a jumbled mess of catastrophic proportions. (Spoiler Alert)

    Spoiler

There was this case in the early story about a bloodline curse that has lasted for generations, the victim of the curse's family has unimaginable authority and wealth along with information-gathering capability rivaling that of a nation's intelligence department. However, this supposedly giant organization can't deal with a curse that I think is an lv 15 or something (the MC) can deal with pretty easily despite there being of utterly ridiculous power level lv above 200 or so which they can afford to hire to deal with the curse, this massive org can also seek help from an actual god or demon to lift the bloodline curse, yet somehow they can't think of doing such a thing and start thinking "hmm, this low-level necromancer might be able to lift the curse compare to this lv 200 demi-god or an actual god/demon."
All I can say about the power scaling system is don't think about it because it won't make utter sense even if you try and there are so many plot conveniences happening all the time it gets ridiculous. For example, the MC somehow needs money "Behold the almighty plot convenience of getting 913 something millions of golds", another one would be when the author finally remembers the main story hasn't made significant progress in over 100 chapters like "Behold another almightly plot convenience of getting transport to a random new location with the reward of main story progression once the MC is done with the grindfest"

My thought overall, I like this story a lot and at first it is fantastic. Unfortunately, the lack of progress, the nonstop sidetracking, the almost bland supporting characters, and the almost unrelatable MC, on top of the maddening fillers is what kills my enjoyment, and reading this has become a chore to do.

I normally never write reviews due to not being able to give good stories the justice they deserve, but I couldn't just leave this alone only seeing 7 reviews before me on a novel that should have 10x more.

The story is great, and the MC is one of the best i've ever encountered. The dialogues are thought provoking and not once did I read through one explaining the mc's thought process and was dissatisfied with what was written.

One of the best stories I ever read.

The main character is smart, cunning, has decent morals while also being a nightmare in terms of what he is willing to do for his goals.

Also the best novel that shows an experienced fighter winning whith skill while also having a hard time and possibly losing (or just sitting around waiting for them to die after using a dirty trick *cough*poison*cough). The fights are the best.

I started reading after loving the author's other book (The Bloodiest Mage. (LITRPG)) sadly discontinued.

Little did I know the author could one-up himself and write an Even Better Book. I'm not a critic and despite reading many hours I know I can't review well but I can give my honest thoughtsThe story in my opinion is amazing to read with twists always giving me a laugh, secrets sprinkled throughout to be discovered later, and an overall refreshing readI wish the author well and hope he can write more In the future for I'll stick with this book til the end

An excellent novel. I especially like how the main character isn't really a 'blank slate' but has their own long and varied history that we get to see glimpses of throughout the novel.

The writing is pretty good, the overall plot is rather unique for a litRPG and the worldbuilding is well-thought out.

Honestly, not much else to say. Its not like a paragon of perfection, its simply just a really good read. and I like it.

Oh also, Author has a patreon. Toss 'em a coin if you feel like it.

This book is worth every minute of your time, the characters are very well made and the plot is fantastic. The story flows well and previous events tie-in to current events even if they appear random at first. Plenty of Easter eggs hidden between the pages too if you know what your looking for. Give it a read you won't regret it.
