Synopsis

I give this story 7/10 as of ch. 90
If you read the synopsis, paid attention to the tags and know what you are getting yourself into, then go ahead with confidence because the story deserves at least a chance.
The rest of this review is mostly for the author because despite "Rise of the Guild Master" being good for what it is, it could have been more in my eyes. If the story wasn't so focused on smut and MC was more deserving of his title then it would have been, I am sure.
Why I have issues with the amount of smut in a smut fic? It's because at times it replaces the meaningful interaction between the characters. The moments that could have been emotional and romantic are reduced to dirty talk. Moments that could have been important for the character development are overshadowed by the s*x scenes.
It's not so bad that you can with certainty point at the paragraph and say "this shouldn't be here" but you are left with impression "it could have been better" nonetheless.
Now onto the MC. For all of his lofty ideals and dreams he doesn't come across as anyone deserving them. Sure his backstory is pitiful and tragic but his actions since the "revelation with Sam" make him the same self pitying failure he was at the start.
This part of the story frustrated me more that my previously mentioned gripe with smut because it was so in the face.
Dilapidated guild, no money, a single adventurer, ton of work ahead. First decision of the MC - will not clean the place as if it's the matter of principle.
Team desperately needs funds, the first planned expense? Catgirl maid. As if it is the only thing that stands in their way to success.
Brood Wolves - first crisis of the team and the first victory. First course of action in the aftermath? Buy a bed.
Team almost died and MC buys a bed. Not the armor or healing potions, not some safety measure to protect the girls in case something like that happens again (which it does). He just buys a bed, because "it's the gift for all of them".
The girls did more to progress the Guild than the GM. Sam invited Mage Girl, Opal brought in the instructor, Nikki, Zuzu made a teleportation system, Sam herself had to deal with Gwin to get the armor (for measly 5k). Girls do everything themselves and MC is there only for d*cking, paperwork and money. Why I haven't mentioned emotional support? It's because emotional moments are either during d*cking or in between.
I am not trying to diminish MC's efforts because he is the reason why the team earned 300k after Brood Wolves quest but that 300k isn't of any use if you hoard it for a Catgirl Maid or impulsively spend it on a bed.
All these actions portray MC as a guy whose goal is to enjoy his lucky break instead of an ambitious Guildmaster who wants his Guild to be the best.
P.S. After editing the review I reminded myself that the actions of the MC could have been a result of unsufficient planing or revisions.

What I like about this story is that every character has a role one way or another. Each have something to bring to the relationship that is unique to the character. I read a lot of story where the MC has so many women just for the sake of it and it made no difference because the characters characteristics we're the same as the older character they replaced. To me that made it boring to read. But here you have all the characters have their own growth, background, and characteristics. They saport and comfort each of their weaknesses. Which to me is refreshing.

So far I'm loving this series. Does he get younger? Like his cock did manage to get better and his s*xual talents did grow. So why not let him have a glow-up on his appearance? Or has he already done it? Anyways, looking forward to the following chapters, hopefully releases will be more often as I am a fast reader.
