    Status: chapter 108: rena’s story

Meh. It'd be better if the MC just said that he was a messiah sent from above instead of telling so many lies to build up his background. And his lies weren't even that good to begin with. There's always a feeling that something is wrong with those lies, and yet in most cases people don't even bother to doubt his words.

The fanfic is also incredibly dry and needs more comedy or different PoVs from other characters. It's always, always about the MC, making it one-track and easy to get bored of. The self-thinking monologues and the 'silent dialogues' between MC and Strife are put in the same quotation mark as the dialogues between MC and other characters, making it really confusing.

Conclusion: The idea of combining games and cultivation was promising, but the execution is subpar.

Status: chapter 152: source of the vampires

So, to sum it up in as un-flattering terms as possible that will give you exactly the opposite impression of this series that you ought to take away, it's someone's over powered OC inserted into various video game plots one after another, using their knowledge of the plot of the game to solve all the problems of all the characters in the story.

But, if this story turned out like every other one of the hundreds of stories that could fit almost that exact same description, then I wouldn't be rating this 5 stars. This thing is GOOD!

The manner in which the game worlds are implemented is very well justified by the premise, and it is written such that the cultivation concepts blend in very well with the world settings. This author knew what they were doing when they selected the 3 games in the synopsis. As someone who's played Legend of Legaia myself, I was very impressed with how much the author managed to simultaneously do justice to the game while also finding an explanation that expertly wove it into this cultivation world setting.

The author also manages to make excellent use of comedy to play off how OP the protagonist is, expertly deflecting the OP feats with hillarious reactions by the people around. But, while the protagonist takes things very non-seriously most of the time, the story STILL somehow manages to keep a sense of tension and urgency at critical moments that allow it to fill the role of an action fantasy combat story rather well too.

It is easy to be skeptical due to just how many people have done similar concepts wrong, but I would definitely recommend giving this thing a try. Read a few chapters and see how you like it. The premise is one that's been given a bad name, but the implementation here is absolute gold tier and very well written.

(About the one thing that would make this better would be if the author would include a few more SNES titles in the world and not just PS1. There's one with Secret of Mana. I want MORE!!! I want CHRONO TRIGGER! Give me Chrono Trigger!)

    Status: chapter 235: too weak!

While there are certainly some areas where things could be improved, pacing shifts here and there, some proofreading etc.; the story is fun, and it accomplishes what it sets out to do. Jemini's review sums it up pretty well, and video-game plots start getting woven together in a surprisingly intuitive way.

Is the story perfect? Absolutely not. But it accomplishes what it sets out to do very well. This is a real love letter to classic video games, cleaning up the lore and bringing it up to date in a fun way, with twists that you know are coming, but are executed well enough that you don't know exactly what's coming next. Yes, you know another video-game plot is coming, but which and when? Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we got something like FF6 mixed with Skies of Arcadia. Or Planescape could show up, I have no idea, and that's the point.

Sure, you should probably have a few wikis open while you read this, but it isn't necessary. It's a fun romp through classic RPGs with a twist (actually done right for a change), and as long as you don't take the story too seriously, you'll have a lot of fun.
