First review- won't be super methodical but more my feelings
A brief summary is The stained tower is the story of a 16th century women getting sent current day New York as something like a spirit. Throughout the story she grows stronger and learns more about what has changed about the world and how she's currently exploring it (with a lot of other stuff but spoilers you know)
Now onto my thoughts
The story is incredibly well written, with a fleshed out world, great characters, and an intriguing plot, BUT The absolute MVP of the story is Constance the main character
Her character as a whole is best described as a work of art. Not only is her character incredibly likeable but the fact is from the 16th century is beautifully written. To ever conversation, to ever name to ever object, to her handwriting, to her knowledge, to her taste in style everything is as if she was from the 16th century. When reading I could not find a single hole in her act and I loved every single second I spent reading about her.
Kinda ranty review but absolutely would recommend reading this it's great

Do yourself a favor and get the first book, and then follow it on here. The summary does not do the story justice, for it has such a great amount of effort shown in research for a character from the 16th century, and having to survive in the modern urban fantasy she's thrown into. This pales in comparison to how it's an absolute treat if you have an inclination to literature in general, as the details and descriptions are as in depth as a modernist novel describing a single day. There is so much to explore and learn while reading, and what I be na only describe as an extreme amount of sapphic relationship that can be read in the first book. I have yet to start the second.
If you have values that align with illegality as legitimate protest to unjust legality, acceptance of the fluidity of gender, and resisting tyranny, you'll find this a wonderful adventure to read.
