Captain Shady (Codename Black Cobra)

He is an Egyptian Secret Agent who works for the Medjay Organization, a secret offshoot of the Egyptian GID (General Intelligence Directorate). Shady's mission, as well as his team's, was to retrieve the Egyptian Artifacts that were stolen from Egypt through out the years and secretly return them to Egypt.

His last mission was to retrieve the Ring of Horus, an Egyptian artifact which contains an immense power that can end the Age of the Nuclear Energy. Things don't go too well for him, however, as his team was intercepted by a force of HIVE Agents who followed the unique energy emitted by the ring.

In his dying moments, Shady detonates the charges set around the hideout taking himself and all the HIVE agents with him along side Nadia, his would-have-been lover.

Shady was an avid dating sims fan and a Geek in his own way. The latest game he played was Harem Impact and it is his only connection to his reincarnation body of Leon Dark.

Leon Dark (pre-Reincarnation)

Leon Dark was the son of Duke William Dark and Duchess Annabelle Dark. Leon was born with a condition of talent lacking which deemed him a cripple and caused his father and mother to be officially separated so he was mostly raised by his mother till the age of 10.

However, when the news of his engagement from the daughter of a powerful family was leaked to the Royal Family, his father (who is a Royal Family Loyalist) forcibly took him from his mother and placed him in his house for 8 years before he was permitted to attend the Royal Academy.

While the life in that Royal Academy was displayed in a game which Captain Shady played on Earth. The events were portrayed to set Leon as an annoying love rival from the perspective of the main character of the game, Crown Prince Edward. Leon was associated with a girl called Nora Frye which the Prince fancied and set him on a disagreement path with Leon which ended with the latter being poisoned and imprisoned in his room to die.

Leon Dark (post-Reincarnation)

The Mix of Leon Dark and Captain Shady. A new personality altogether that inherited the will of the two as well as the Ring of Horus and its immense power.

This Leon sets on a path to escape from the political drama that is trying corner him to death and survived a pursuit to the deepest parts of the slums. There, he reorganizes himself and figures out how to live in this new world with this immense power and which path to take from now on to fulfill both the wills of Shady and Leon.

The Ring of Horus

A Powerful Artifact that belonged to the God-King of Egypt, the Pharaoh who was once Horus son of Osiris and Isis.

The ring was created by Isis when she stole power from Ra in order to Reanimate her dead husband Osiris who was killed by Set, his usurper brother. Osiris and Isis used the Atef Crown of Osiris and the Multi-Colored Wings of Isis to pass to the next life leaving the ring for their son to follow them with. Horus, however, failed to do so and died in the mortal realm leaving all his power trapped in the Ring. (The story is a deviation from the Original Legend).

In Modern Times, the Ring was rediscovered by Dr. Adam Kotov, a Swedish/Ukrainian scientist who smuggled the ring out of Egypt in lust for its powers only to end up destroying his family in the process. The Ring resurfaced once again in the US under the protection of a HIVE Agents and Dr. Adam who attempted to sell it in an International Auction hosted by the United Nations in New York in order to stop the global fight over the Ring.

There where and when the Black Cobra mysteriously stole the Ring.

I would definitely recommend this novel due to how both new and familiar it is for many parts of the genre. I also like  how the main character is framed and how he is not some holier than thou character despite them taking actions that are more morally gray at best that a lot of novels fall into, it can best be said he is a bad person and it works for the story

I think the start of this novel is really great. The character was very consistent and even though the whole system thing kind of bothered me, I at least gave it a chance to develop.

Well, a few chapters later and I can't help but be kinda disappointed. Firstly, minor *spoilers from here* the MC is written to be a bit evil. He takes pleasure in killing for his own benefit and is willing to betray everyone. I liked his character, especially because I could kinda see the trauma leading up to it. A few chapters later and the author decides to take the MC round and round in emotional circles, looking for answers that don't have questions preceding them. He is also contradictory. He is now written as a 'good guy' who is in that moral grey zone that was not presented in the beginning.

The side characters, up until he joins the Mercenary guild are fascinating. You can tell there is a genuine reason why the MC would consider sticking around with them. Even his Aunt and all of them being in the background was fitting. After that though, I feel like the author tried to reintroduce the MC into their story, which wasn't convincing at all. *Spoiler* His Aunt, the dwarf, the elf and all of them are not good people. They ignored Leon so hard for his entire life and they just want to move on? Acting like whatever they do is in his best interests, yet it isn't. It seems more like virtue signalling, so there is no need to present them like they are looking out for the MC. In fact, no one is a good person.

The politics have too many paths to take that have not been explored enough for me to take interest in and it is pretty much the same for the story in general. I feel like the author tried too hard to not be 'cliche' by force-feeding his story more than it could chew.

I feel like the first part of the story, where it is focused on the MC escaping to find his own life could have been the biggest focus, but with the Prince's story and the Duke family plus his fiance and her Aunt, plus the Mafia Boss and we haven't even begun talking about the title 'Unholy Mage' and the flawed system that still hasn't been fixed, it feel like it's doing too much and failing at them all.
