Rend introduces us to an alternate-history earth, seen through the eyes of the protagonist, Erind. Erind is a very unique girl who follows a set of mysterious, self-made rules throughout her daily life. As we slowly learn more about her rules and motivations, a strange picture starts to form.

I was greatly surprised by the level of detail put into creating this massive alternate earth. A good part of my enjoyment comes from slowly unveiling the mystery of it all. It's definitely a concept that I havn't seen done before.

Erind is likable protagonist in an unconventional way. She understands that she is different from others, but does her best appear normal to the people around her. Her morality is based heavily on efficiently getting the things she wants, not being evil for the sake of evil, like other third-rate villains.

My only complaint is that the story starts off a bit slow and meandering, but once the author understands the direction they want to take the story, it quickly gets to it's feet. And then it starts to run.

In this story, the author has set out to portray a world as seen through the eyes of a genuinely insane and deranged individual, as opposed to the usual edgy antihero version of psychopaths you see in most novels. And they have succeeded, albeit not exactly in the way they intended to I surmise.

The MC is someone who has a very strict set of rules by which she lives her life, and she strictly adheres to these rules, no matter what. At least that's what she thinks she does. What you'll see however is an extremely emotional person, as opposed to the usual description of psychopaths, that breaks their rules all the time and just keeps making excuses about it, though admittedly, her emotions are a very distorted version of what ordinary people feel.

Now, why would this be a problem for the story? It's because the MC throws all logic out the window whenever she decides to do something. She does not act in her own interest at all (or anyone else's for that matter), and always chooses the option that provides the most immediate fun and satisfaction, even if it would end up killing her. Frankly, the only reason she's lived long enough for the story to have this many chapters is through the very obvious application of thick layers of plot armor, which makes for a frustrating read.

The world is interesting, the characters are interesting, all the mysteries moving in the background keep things interesting, and then comes in the MC derping around, casually forgiving mortal enemies, killing random people, and taking nonsensical risks for no benefits when she's nowhere near strong enough to be messing around like this.

It's still a good, well written story that's worth a read, but it could have been a lot better.

This book is amazing. It has re-arranged my views on what a good book should be, and this is it.

Incredible read, great characters, world building, has a unique plot, I only have praises.

It is difficult for me to find faults in this novel even if I want to.

A very solid story with a very light overarching story. Personally, I like that there is no no huge overarching plot looming over that's going to hijack the good parts of the story and run on until the end. Each volume is it's own, mostly, contained story, similar to most Light Novels and Manga. The author sites stories written by Worm's author as an inspiration, I believe they site a different story though, so it was a relief that it didn't take after Worm's depressing non-stop intense underdog action.

The main character is a breath of fresh air really. Many very predictable plot points are gone and generally minor issues suddenly develop into large plot points due to her rules. Though, one issue is early on the main character refers to "her kind" and in a crazy, and rather unrealistic, level of awareness points out the flaws of "her kind", but luckily in a realistic way manages to completely ignore said flaws.

The side characters are decent. Many get side lined ridiculously quickly, others become reoccurring characters, and many just outright dying. Their best trait is many of them manage to die or get bullied in satisfying ways.

The world building is par for the course for modern history fiction. Meaning it's very unbelievable. A radical change in history that results in a world somehow 98% similar to our own, even if the change happened 100 years ago, with 2% drastically different. Add a helping of "Americanitus, " the author isn't American btw, where no other country exists, and you've basically got this world. It's serviceable really and easy to overlook.

TLDR: Read it. Is good. One of the better stories by far here. No canon Yuri though -100/10 don't read it's crap actually.

Very well written, with proper grammar and excellent storytelling. What really gets me excited for its chapters is its large cast of unique characters, its ever-expanding entwined plots and peoples, and the stories unique premise, lore, and world-building.

Looking forward to more of the world of REND.

The beginning of each arc is really slow but that is my only issue but once it reaches the second half it becomes more fast-paced and you become more invested in the story. I also like how the MC actions are all based on efficiency and not morals like so many other MCs of other storys.

It is a very good series. The main character is different and very refreshing with some sadistic, evil and manipulative touches. The secondary characters are very well constructed each with their own personality. Also the story of the alternate world with the struggle of humanity to survive the monsters is very interesting.

The only problem I see with the series is that so far the protagonist has always been on the defensive, that is always the passive part to which the problems fall and has to survive them.

Although now with the 6th arc it seems that she will start to fight back. I hope the series keeps the same spirit with a manipulative and sadistic Enrind without the need to become a hero.

    Spoiler

I loved the Horror movie version of Deen in the 5th arc.

The MC is biggest highlight and also the centrepiece of this binge-worthy series, You won't get a more proactive female lead anywhere else espescially if you wanna see her kickass AND BOY DOES SHE KICK ASS TO THE ABSOLUTE MAX!!!. Those worried that the MC will be apathetic and not relatable at all due to the 'Psychopath tag', lemme tell you that after reading just the 1st arc you are gonna realise your inner introvert even if you don't consider yourself to be one. The author utilises this tag so well that it actually creates a way better persona for the protagonist than any of your run of the mill isekai MCs. Overall, this one's a ride you don't wanna see the end of.
