Characters may change categories, too, depending on how it develops.

Flora (legally known as Felix) is a 16 year old girl and the protagonist of the story.

Currently in Year 10 of High School. 160-ish centimetres tall, with a slim figure, pale skin, and long brown hair.

Flora and Emily are childhood friends.

A self-professed good student, Flora doesn't have many hobbies or interests. She never talked much to her friends or engaged in social functions before her transformation, instead choosing to focus on studying.

Assigned male at birth, she was transformed into the Queen of Spirits on the first day of the portal opening, changing her body into that of a girl. Her hair and eyes change colour depending on the type of magic she performs, maintaining an iridescent sheen throughout. If she materialises clothes, they have the same sheen as her hair, though this sheen is not visible to normal humans, who cannot see magic.

As she spends more time as a girl, she gradually grows more comfortable with her identity, finding out that she's much happier after her transformation.

Emily is Flora's trusted childhood friend. Their parents were close, so Emily and Flora met when they were children.

17 years old, currently in Year 10 of High School.

168 centimetres tall, slim and athletic, with mid-length blonde hair and tanned skin from spending so much time outdoors.

She is close friends with Zoey, having met her in early high school.

Her birthday is early in the year.

Emily is very energetic, choosing to charge headlong into things. Because of this, she sometimes struggles when she has to slow down and think about her options, and how her choices might affect her life in the long term. She doesn't talk much to Flora at school, due to Flora's focus on studying, and lack of interest in socializing while there.

On the second day of the portal opening, she was transformed into a Fox Spirit. She now has red-furred ears on the top of her head, and a large tail with fur of the same colour. Her eyes have vertically slit pupils, and are a bright amber colour.

Zoey is a 17 year old girl, and is close friends with Emily. They met when they were 13, outside of school.

She is currently in Year 11 of High School.

172 centimetres tall, she is slightly broader than Emily, with long, curly brown hair.

She is transgender, and came out when she was 14. After having a rough time at her original school, she transferred to Emily's school, and is currently living full-time in stealth as a girl, only being out to Emily, Flora, and the guidance counsellor, Elena, with whom she has regular check-ins.

She is fairly protective of Flora, due to seeing parallels between the two's situation. She likes cute things.

On the fourth day after the portal opened, she was transformed into a greater fairy. Having an affinity with wind and trees, her hair and eyes turned green. She has the ability to switch between "small fairy" and "humanized" forms.

Elena is the guidance counsellor at the school that Flora, Emily, and Zoey attend.

She is in her mid-20s, having graduated university and immediately started working at the school.

162 cm tall, she is relatively slim, and wears a lab coat at school. She has mid-length black hair, which is usually tied up in a ponytail, and dark brown eyes.

On day 3, she was turned into a Raven spirit. She grew large, black-feathered wings, and now weighs roughly 15 kilograms.

In Arc 2, her full name was revealed to be Elena Crawford

Melissa is Emily's mother. Single, once divorced, she raised Emily mostly on her own.

Appeared to be in her mid 30s, but is likely quite a bit older, and refuses to reveal her actual age.

At 168 centimetres tall, she is fairly slim, with long blonde hair usually tied into a ponytail. She has brown eyes.

On the second day, inside her dream, she witnessed Emily being transformed into a Fox Spirit. Her own exposure to the portal gave her Spirit Sight, or the ability to see spirits, as well as see through magic performed by non-humans.

Grace is Flora's older sister.

She is 168 centimetres tall, slim, and has long brown hair. At 21 years old, she is currently attending university.

Aeriel has blue hair, and wears a light blue one-piece dress.

Standing at 150 centimetres tall, she appears to be around 14 years old.

Aeriel is a water spirit who was sucked through the portal to Earth when it opened.

Mira has red hair, and wears a red one-piece dress.

She is about 130 centimetres tall, and appears to be in Primary School.

Mira is a fire spirit, and was sucked through the portal into Earth when it opened.

These two girls have been friends with Emily in high school for at least a few years.

Caitlyn is taller than average (though not as tall as Emily), and has short to mid-length blonde hair. She's energetic, impulsive, and loud, and likes to pull Amelia and Emily along with her schemes.

Amelia, on the other hand, is short and relatively quiet in comparison. She has long, dark brown hair, and often hides behind it when faced with someone new. However, if she finds someone she "clicks" with, she'll become fast friends with them.

Not much is known about Layla, other than the fact that she is in Year 9 (one year younger than Flora and Emily), and that she transformed into a wolf spirit. She seems to be in regular contact with Miss Daisy, who knows about her transformation.

Miss Daisy is the Art teacher for numerous classes, including Flora and Emily, as well as supposedly Layla's class. She seems to be close to Layla, and knows about her transformation, despite not going through one herself.

Maddie is the in-house social worker at the local police station. She seemed to not be able to see Zoey, while in her fairy form.

Miriam is Elena's social worker friend, and works at a nearby clinic. She appears to have not gone through a change.

Eddie and Jennifer are Zoey's parents. They're both supporting of her, both about her being transgender, and about her being a fairy.

The most common race in the Other World, as well as the only humanoid race on Earth.

Usually, humans are unable to see magic, or spirit energy. In rare cases, a human who is exposed to large amounts of spirit energy may gain "Spirit Sight", or the ability to see spirits, as well as the magic that non-humans perform.

Humans can perform magic by using a catalyst, usually created by a spirit, and reacting it with magic energy given off by spirits that they take into their bodies. If a human has Spirit Sight, chances are that they will be closer to spirits, and thus have more opportunities to take magic energy into their bodies.

Magic performed almost always has an imperfect efficiency, leaving some residual mana in the atmosphere. This mana usually becomes sustenance for spirits.

On Earth, since there are no spirits or non-human races, humans never developed magic.

The spirits are a race of humanoid beings that originated in the Other World.

Spirits are born out of residual energy, taking a form primary focused on a single elements, such as fire, water, or wind. Intensely curious and childlike, they explore cities and observe humans, often searching for someone with Spirit Sight with whom they can form a bond with.

Spirits are capable of performing magic based around their element, using their own energy. Often, performing magic will result in a nearby object, such as a rock or piece of metal, becoming a magic catalyst. If a spirit bonds with a person, they sometimes offer up their own bodies as catalysts, allowing them to perform powerful magic. Spirits naturally give off magic energy from their bodies, which humans intake, allowing them to react it with a catalyst to perform magic.

Unless a spirit materializes, changing their form to a different wavelength, spirits cannot be seen by humans without spirit sight.

Spirits survive using energy taken from imperfectly cast magic, or through the natural spirit energy constantly given off by the Queen of Spirits.

The Queen of Spirits is an entity born from excess magic power given off by spirits. Without a Queen in a realm, spirits will struggle to gain enough energy to survive. The Queen has the ability to manipulate any spirit element, as well as use their own particular Queen's element.

Fairies are enigmatic beings, who live spread out among human society. They often make friends with small children.

If a fairy gains enough power, they become a Greater Fairy. Greater fairies have the ability to "humanize", allowing them to become the same size as an adult human. Often, greater fairies will enter human society as guardians of children, or kindly old strangers, mingling with humans unnoticed.

Fairies will often have attributes, or affinities for certain types of magic. For instance, a fairy with a water affinity can use fairy magic to manipulate water, in a similar manner to a spirit of water. However, this severely limits their ability to utilize other elements, such as fire and wind, so they often rely on the spirits of those particular elements in their place. Since a greater fairy is much more powerful than a regular fairy, they are able to manipulate elements that do not match their affinity at a level that is useful, negating the need to rely on spirits.

The dragonkin are a relatively unknown race, having disappeared from the Other World for quite some time now. The only information known about them is held by spirits, and a few non-human scholars. 

The only things known about dragonkin is their incredible strength and resilience, and their ability to breathe fire.

Not to be confused with Spirits, Animal Spirits are a demi-human race from the Other World. Originating in the distant past through unknown circumstances, they gain characteristics based on the species of animal spirit they are.

Along with physical characteristics, Animal Spirits gain certain abilities based on the species of animal. Fox spirits control magic and illusions, and gain more tails as they become more powerful. Wolf spirits are extremely strong, and can take the form of a wolf. The more powerful the spirit, the larger their wolf form, at its peak reaching more than 10 metres high. Raven spirits, along with their remarkable ability to find lost items, are said to be able to tell people's fortunes. As they grow more powerful, their fortunes become more detailed, and more accurate.

Prior to the opening of the portal, there were no supernatural or fantasy elements on Earth. No non-human races, no spirits, and no magic.

In the Other World, a magician opened up a portal to Earth to escape execution. Because of the lack of magic, spirits, and energy on Earth, a pressure differential was created, and numerous non-human races, along with large amounts of spirit and magical energy, were sucked through the portal onto Earth.

A fantastical place, the Other World is a world in a different dimension to Earth. Full of varied races, like humans, elves, fairies, dragonkin, spirits, and animal spirits, it was a world where magic prevailed over science.

During a sentencing of a group of high-security prisoners, improper precautions were taken, allowing one prisoner to use forbidden magic to open a portal to an alternate world. Due to the lack of magic and non-human races on Earth, the portal began sending magical energy and various non-humans, such as fairies and spirits, through to Earth.
