Synopsis

[New Version as of May/2022] Kawamura Kouta has had a crush on the school slut Nakada Shizu for over a year, longing to be with her. One day when she appears before him at the most inopportune moment, he takes the chance of his lifetime to confess to her. She carelessly accepts, and both find themselves in a world of hurt as they come to terms with what being with each other means to them with the values the world has given them. Can they make it to the happy end together?

This is a rewrite since the original version of Black Label was a bit too heavy at times, with terrible pacing that kept piling on things without enough fluff or time to breath, and too many characters to keep track of. This version is simple, harem is a bit more relaxed, plenty of fluff to be found. Any reviews prior to May/2022 are no longer relevant and should be disregarded until new ones populate.

I am writing a review while having not read any chapters (5 out currently), so feel free to disregard what I’m saying as malarkey.

I’ve read the predecessor, and that’s toyed with my emotions/torn my heart on numerous occasions. Now I read the synopsis to this, and it’s the ‘darker version’? Maybe I’d give it a shot but then I read the tags... and reread the synopsis. Hell no I’m not reading this, because that’s not my cup of tea (spiked with cyanide). At least not anytime soon.

5 stars for the warning in the synopsis and the amazing cover art. Otherwise, read at your own risk because author warned you!

I can't give this novel a single rating so I won't. I can only rate this in two ways writing skill and personal feelings.

My rating based on personal feelings would be 2/5.

My rating based on writing skill would be 5/5.

Why? Because the author brought out the theme very well using their writing skill, which made me unhappy while reading this novel. I dislike reading novels which make me unhappy.

There is a whole range of novels like this one. Ones that are written so well that the negative emotions of the characters hit you so hard that they must be written well. Yet, at the same time those negative emotions chase many readers away.

About a month ago, I found the original Nakada-san to Ren'ai randomly and just as randomly decided to read it. Now, I'm a bit of a stranger when it comes to web novels; I have not read many, other than a few stories based around a few popular franchises I'm a fan of. So the original version of this story, was pretty much my first actual web novel and I was immediately hooked; taking less than two days to read the complete story, other than a few of the after dark specials, between classes.

I got so ingrained into the story, that I was a little bit disappointed that it hadn't been updated in awhile, but eventually after a day or two I found this version of the story. I don't exactly remember if I found it through recommended, or by joining the discord server; however I was quite glad I did.

While I did quite enjoy the original, and it will always have a special place in my heart; this version is definitely much better. The characters are more fleshed out, and/or repurposed into roles that, at the very least, suite this version of the narrative much better. The original story was a bit fast paced, but this version takes it's time and delivers much longer chapters for the reader to enjoy.

It's also quite interesting to see a version of the story, that was clearly not too influenced by reader feedback, and has allowed the author to express their vision. This is something we see a lot when it comes to fiction and authors being held back by companies or their audiences; it hurts the story telling when the author isn't allowed to express their own vision rather than someone else's.

Of course, it does include elements of infidelity, which is a major red flag for some; however, I'd still highly recommend reading it. Infidelity isn't apart of the story for no reason, there is a reason behind everyone's actions and it's interesting to find out those reasons along with the characters.

I quite enjoy Nakada-san to Renai [Black Label], it is truly a fantastic read!

Frustrating at the begining, generic and weird by the end. The MC is the nice guy/cuck we have seen in most generic ntr hentai, but we at least get to actually learn his thoughts and personality even if some parts are inconsistent. Sometimes actions don't have consequences so any impact an action would have gets lost since you know it won't even last. The rest of the characters are fine, can't say they are generic, but they are frustrating at the begging. Which is a shame since the only difference between the MC in chapter 1 and the one chapter 40 is that he has more experience with women but he is an static character. The other characters get some kind of development, but not a lot. While the other version was way more inconsistent and convoluted this one is just meh. A decent story of nothing else

It doesn't have any bullsh*t you normally see in eroges. Nothing to make you die from cringe. People f**king as people f**k.

The power of friendship here is stronger than naruto. (Not really that was a joke if you did not get it somehow)

Kind of feels mature. Like you are reading a sinnen manga. Seriously like the dynamic at school.
        Pretty nice mood and tone.
For some reason it reminds me of GTO and gantz.

I must say before everything, this novel is not for everyone. So, first of all, the bad ratings in this are quite unfair. I've never seen any grammar mistakes,   the feelings and thoughts of the characters are extremely believable. Damn, I was so invested in this that I cried a couple of times when I binge-read it.  I think the only reason for the rating must be the "NTR" tag, however, if really is that it's clear that people haven't read it. The only reason I started reading this is that I need to know why the rating was so low, but the reviews were so high. And I was surprised. This is more rambling than a review, but please, if you are reading this at least try it and join this heavy and emotional train.

If the intention of the writer was to create a hateful main character, then he did a good job, because I dropped this at chapter 29 and I don't care anymore, and not because the MC is evil, amoral  or anything like that, he is just too ret*rded, basically bad decisions have no consequences, there is no lessons learned, no growth, only complains, and it keeps repeating the same mistakes in a short period of time.

Characters here in less than 10 days in the story, gain more life experience than the average person in 20 years of their life, with the difference that here they don't gain anything, they remain the same and day after day there is new cheap drama, that wont matter at all because they will just f**k and forget about it, then they "talk" to communicate between themselves, but that's just a filler.

And then the autor adds a fantastic element to sustain the logic of the MC f**king half the country, and nope, that's it for me, I don't care is this gets good later on, but I recognize that some of the s*x scenes are well writen, but that's not enough to keep the engagement.

This story isn't for the fluffy innocent looking for a heartwarming tale. If you can handle the most f**ked up sh*t then it will be hard to find something more interesting and twisted.
