Synopsis

Aidan was bringing his military career to a close, after a little over six years of fighting on an earth now littered with dimensional tears. As he was on his way out of the military, he found his life cut short as he suddenly blacks out while preparing to depart. The next moment, Aidan awoke in a clearing with no idea where he was, or who he now is.

Planned Release is once a week.

Any feedback whatsoever is appreciated; I want to do the best I can for this story.

At CH9 the story shifts perspective from multiple first person perspectives to only the mc first person and third person for the rest. Eventually those chapters will be reworked.

This is my first work so i apologize if your eyes glaze over at any point.

I honestly like the story and the characters and the pace it is having so far but I have a doubt if the protagonist will have her own romance with a boy since that is the reason why I started reading this

One of the more interesting gender bender stories. This seems to be the first one I found that isn’t harem or yuri trash. Keep up the good work??

      What even is this story?

I will begin with what it's not : No real Action, no Adventure, not a litrpg.

There's constant noise, but no substantial progress. A lot of talk about doing things, then not doing said things, only for yet again talking about doing those things. And conversations about feelings, so many conversations about feelings.

It's a Telenovela with tiny bits and bobs of fantasy in the background. If you wanted to skip everything not of importance, you'd have to skip 90% of chapters.

The very beginning of this story promised a product that doesn't exist for the rest of the chapters. Sad.

      Good grammar, though, so yay?

The one star review made me hesitant to read this story, but I gave it a shot anyways and ended up binging 141 chapters in 3 days.

So, I have no idea what Tajarim was on about in their review. I suppose they are upset because there isn't non-stop combat? And there isn't. This is very much a character focused story. Perhaps the Synopsis is at fault for some believing otherwise.

The claim that there is only fluff and no progress though? Completely false. Just because people aren't fighting doesn't mean what is happening isn't important or interesting. (And that isn't to say there isn't ZERO combat in the story, it is just not the main focus).

The claim that all characters do to talk about things and then no doing things? I have literally no idea what that could possibly be referring to.

I am all for people forming their own opinions, and wouldn't normally directly references some one else's (or even leave a review myself to be honest), but that 1 star review was so far off the mark and the fact that I almost didn't read what is now my favorite story I have read on this site drives me to try and make sure others don't miss out on an amazing story like I almost did.

If you are wanting a shut your brain off power fantasy generic litrpg with no plot only fight this isn't a story for you I guess, and the synopsis the author offers does sort of paint it as potentially being that type of story I suppose. If you like interesting plot and characters though, this story is amazing.

There ARE stats, but this basically is not a litrpg and stats/skills ALMOST never come up. In 141 chapters I think there have only been 4 major instances of combat (maybe 5 if you count the flashbacks I didn't much care for (just because they were less fantasy and more modern). The main focus of the story is character developement and finding one's place in the world, as well as looming war on the horizon, and a religion spreading genocide of non-human species. A protaganist placed by a god not knowing how or why and what it could mean for the current state of the world.

I will say the 'flashbacks' for Aiden are my least favorite part as mentioned above, I am not really interested in 'modern' settings.

I love this story! The characters are great, making me tear up with joy, while feeling fairly real in most of their personalities. That said, what prompted me to write this review is that my feelings like are *not* uniform for everyone.

The series spends quite a significant amount of time with perspectives other than the main character, which I didn't really find to be interesting - especially before I've really gotten to know them. The purpose of these scenes is unclear to me - world building maybe? I ended up skipping most of them, not feeling emotionally attached. *Edit: I don't have a problem with multiple perspectives themselves so much as that so much of this time is spent as exposition, that which I haven't felt a strong pull to engage with.

Some of the characters strike me as very odd. Lorn is not really likable from my perspective:

      Spoiler

She constantly is putting the MC down, talks down to virtually everybody, and at times is literally a child abuser. I just read the kids get into a dangerous situation, not by choice, barely survive it, and then be berated by every adult figure they meet. It makes me feel a bit angry to see...

      [collapse]

The most interesting and enjoyable part of this for me is the internal clash within the MC, of her current kid self and her previous self as an army guy. It's very fun to see these kinds of interactions, and it's fairly often. However, I find it annoying when she is seemingly conditioned to completely back down to adults who are - frankly - constantly saying ridiculous things and offering life-long ultimatums. It's not that it's unrealistic for her to feel fear, as a kid, but it's less interesting to me as a reader if she just gets bossed around forever. I would just relive childhood memories if I wanted that!

I guess what it really comes down to is that I've formed an emotional bond to this story and its characters, and I don't want them to be in very real and stressful situations like... having your autonomy being taken away by adults on a whim, or constantly vying for affection from a narcissist without realizing you're being manipulated. I'll read more in the hopes that Kiyomi will grow a backbone and live for herself, because it would make me happy to see. This story does make me very happy to read! *Edit 2: It is okay if bad things happen to the protagonists, or conflicts arise (obviously), but I want these things to be recognized for the emotional weight they carry; kids can get grounded and that's fine, and it might be more realistic that adults do make dumb life altering decisions often, but presenting them as inevitable rather irks me.

An actual amazingly well written story. The only faults are the occasional grammar mistake that are easy to gloss over and I never end up remembering by the time I’m done with a chapter. As a gender bender story, so far it’s handled everything really well. In fact, most things are written realistically and believable, such that I truly believe that this kind of world could theoretically exist in more than just fiction. Overall, a splendid read, and it not being like the harem or yuri garbage that exist literally everywhere is an extremely rare find on this site. So far the romance and smut is also confined to side story chapters, so those who don’t like those can skip them happily.

I love this novel because its very slowburn. And most importantly. The author treats having your very identity changed seriously, and the MC reflects that. When in other Gender-Bender novels, the MC shrugs off literally having their identity changed. In this one the MC experiences dysmorphia and feels like theyre possesing someone elses body. The effects of this is still felt even now.

The characters too. Theyre very well written and have very plausible motives, feelings, and backgrounds. Theyre believable, relatable, and none of them are 2 dimensional.

Anyways, good book, go read it

It's pretty good novel by my standards, though it does get a bit boring for me around chapter 55-70

Aside from that, I recommend to read it properly
