Synopsis

Summoned after an unfortunate accident in hopes they could protect the world from a coming threat, Ben and his classmates are gifted another chance at life. With fame and fortune promised to whoever is willing to fight for the sake of the world it doesn't seem like a bad deal, there's just one small problem. Ben wasn't blessed with any magic or combat skills, just crafting and enchanting. While the skills themselves aren't useless they also aren't seen as being necessary to the coming war. Now not needed and alone Ben tries to find a place in the world while meeting some of its colourful characters along the way.

Hi I'm ProbablyATurnip, just a guy doing some writing for fun. You can expect chapters twice a week from me on Sundays and Tuesdays while I experiment with figuring out the right number of commas to use at any given time. Let me know any thoughts you have I look forward to chatting in the comments

The cover was poorly made by myself in about 15 minutes. maybe one day I'll find someone who knows what they're doing

Wonderful story 👍🏻 Smooth read 😎 Keeps reader emotionally invested 🤓

It is an adventure and a fantasy story for sure. But it is also quite realistic in many aspects. Emotions are one of them, be it a romance, an existential crisis, trauma or a personal quirk.  People's emotions and behaviour change as they interact with each other, but their core parts stay the same. Good character building.

The pace of the story changes from fast to slow, it builds up the tension wich is always followed by a nice release and some action.

      Spoiler

MC is characterized by a quick growth which is followed by the system's notifications. They are very distinctive in the text and keep up the pace of the story for the reader. You always expect to see them here and there, or feel frustrated when there are non (just like the MC).

Eventually the growth becomes too quick and damages the MC. As a result he is forced to relax for a long time with almost no notifications in the text. You kind of experience the rush and slowness through these fine details.

      [collapse]

The MC has a strong character. He is often unlucky or finds himself in a hopeless situations but never gives up and bruteforces through the problems. He is also a workaholic who gets satisfaction from the fruits of his own labour. And a quiet guy whom you don't want to anger.

He has his own disappointment moments: like failing sometimes to see his own worth, genuinely believing that others put the same or even bigger effort than him, which is so much not true, believing that he can't do something only to ultimately smash it in a fit of anger...... Well, that is a part of his charm.

This is a very nice story, both in the pacing, and in the story telling. I highly recommend you read this. Quick disclaimer for the next part, if you like going in totally blind to a story, don't click the spoiler part beneath. I will be stating some things that the author does well, along with a few opinions and legit spoilers for the plot.

      Spoiler

First off, let me start of by saying that so far the story has been excellent, and I greatly enjoyed discovering this last weekend, then speedrunning the available chapters. The pacing is well done, with the time skips feeling natural, flowing smoothly enough that for the first few chapters it was not explicitly pointed out, I legit did not even recognize it, needing to go back and reread it inorder to catch it. I do feel that the MC is slightly, just a wee bit, touch OP, and would like to say that it is at this point that the OP protagonist tag should be added, because, spoiler alert, they did not get the God Killer, Godslayer, Monster, Madman, and Threat titles for nothing. I would also like to say that you should add the underpowered protagonist tag, because at the start, they are very much underpowered. I would also like to say that despite this review being written as a stream of thought, I still have more to say. Another point to bring up is how well the POV changes are written, it is almost seamless with the rest of the story, the whole story feels very seamless to be honest. I even guess you could say it is well, Connect-ed.

      Spoiler

If you know, you know. If you don't know, go read the story

      [collapse]

Now that I have gotten my incredibly disorganized thought prosses out of the way, the TLDR is that the MC is summoned with his literal classmates to fight a world ending consuming threat, ends up underpowered, becomes a priest, and finds out aliens are real. In terms of writing, I know that not everyone is back where I found you, unemployed in Greenland, but it is a very enjoyable read, seamless, and something I have greatly enjoyed pouring a week of my summer into binging reading.

This book is for those people who like a crafting book (as the name suggests).

The story is probably the weakest point of the book since it is quite generic, heroes summoned from another world who have to face invaders.

The development of the story is slow but enjoyable, focused more on the follies of the main character and what he builds than on the story itself, as if it were a slice of life.

It should be noted that the story should be marked as romance since there are some entire arcs focused only on romance and that may be a bit cloying for some readers.

Regarding the style, it is lazy, with short paragraphs and without going into too much detail in the descriptions, but enjoyable. As for the grammar, although there are some mistakes, there are quite a few and they are not too noticeable.

As for the grammar, although there are some mistakes, there are quite a few and they are not too noticeable.

Finally, regarding the development of the characters. The main characters are quite well done, as well as their development throughout the story, explaining their motivations and how they evolve.

The secondary characters have the necessary depth to not be simple but without being the main characters.

In general, I would say that it is a very good story as long as the context is taken into account (Crafting + Slice of Life + Romance + Comedy).

Before starting to read this story, keep in mind that it is not suitable for all audiences since it will not be liked by those who prefer a fast, action story without romance.

Weak to strong at its best, pulled at my emotions where it counts without getting truly dark.

The stories' crafting mechanics/progression is broad and steady for the most part, though the nitty-gritty is kept comparably vague across the board. Doesn't detract from the story of course, not like we need another Alysara and her magic eyeballs.

Romance currently isn't tagged though it exists, albeit over a course of in-story years and so much reading that it shouldn't be your focus with the story. That being said, fulfilling friendships/platonic relationships abound!

Definitely a Patreon contender for me.

One of the best works on the site along with "Naruto: The Outsider's Resolve, and the runessmith".

The story is slow paced, but in a good way, it's not drawn out, repetitive or monotonous. The world is very well built and the rpg traits are well integrated into the story.

Things don't happen just to happen or just to give something to the protagonist, most of the events make sense and follow a believable logical line, there are some events that seem a little improbable but that are very easy to fall into the suspension of disbelief.

The romance is very good, although I personally don't like romance, and that includes this one, it's not hard to swallow and not forced, it's quite natural how they approach each other (I personally wish they would just decide that they were going to stay as friends well close or that later develops going back to friends due to incompatibility, different focuses or something like that, but if it ends only in a romance, that's fine too), the romantic interest of the work is well constructed and has its own concerns, dilemmas, faith and not just a helpless girl or dependent on the protagonist (although they spend a lot of time together)

It has a good refresh rate, higher than expected from a good work (2.5 times higher).

In my opinion, the parts that I don't like are: the romance, the protagonist's stupidity in the event after the ordeal, the lack of defense that he enters in the second ordeal, not having a clear picture of the size of the pockets of space, there is little or no difficulty in taking things from one place to another, despite having to drop subjects several times (wasn't it just making a bigger bag or bringing several smaller ones?) the lack of clear learning after suffering with the consequences of some decisions, like not taking more traps, space bags, potions or his tools with him ("but he didn't expect that something like this would happen", it's time for him to learn that this world is dangerous, fickle and unpredictable, he could without a problem prepare better before several events).

It's a great work and it's really worth your time reading it, the parts I don't like are just small I felt during the reading based entirely on my opinion and it doesn't affect the story/reading of the series at all.
