The writhing is mostly fine and it modestly improves over-time, honestly if the author was more up-front about their disturbed world view I think this would be quite a bit more popular.

If you like reading about how everything is men's fault and horrible things can be excused ad nauseum because ✰girl✬, this might be a novel to check out, it updates consistently which is a big plus.

They did admit that the whole premise is torture the red herring protagonist while good things happen to the real protagonist later on in the authors notes/comments.

Didn't like it. The MC, Ben, is beige - I know that's his thing is being rejected, but in a way that isn't interesting. The FMC, Thera, ticks a whole bunch of clichés, to the point where I'm thinking "oh please". Gave up at the gods trial that I found to be boring and a struggle to maintain any interest any more. The world seems to suffer from too much making "more being less". But, read it yourself, I prefer stories where things happen at something more that glacial pace, but I know others do like that.

First off, I made it to current after several days of marathoning this series.  Yay.  There was never a spot that soured the enjoyment to make me want to drop it.

Another review in this says it is torture porn. I'm going to say that this is flat out wrong.  The MC gets the short end of the stick for bad RNG/unbalanced stats. He gets tossed out because he is considered a failure of a hero summon. If this is torture porn then so is Arifurita and failure frame. Also, the gender thing bashing men and exalting women, where is it?  I don't see it.  Maybe some of the issues Thera gets into with her charm skill could count but if 'men are bad' was the narrative the author was trying to make, why did he give her a charm passive that works on men and women equally?

There are a couple things that I didn't like though that stuck with me after I went through the whole thing.  First, the author has made a choice to go broad and shallow with the MC. He is not a blacksmith. He is not an enchanter.  He is not a weaver.  He is not a jeweler.  He is a crafter. &Nbsp; So in a sense he is all those things.  Supposedly this is bad because it makes it harder for him to advance. However this turns out not to happen.  MC's teacher stands out more because he has less of a wishy washy set of skills.  He uses earth and death magic and smithing to create things. See the difference?  The NPC has well defined limits, the MC can and does just whip stuff out of nowhere.  The temple starts out with the MC being limited to resistance enchantments and non-aspect magic enchantments. I thought this was a nice boundary that would lead to some creative problem solving but was disappointed when a cheat was introduced to get the magic from other people.  Even worse the other people didn't have to be involved hardly at all.

There are a couple other roadblocks that get solved with a paragraph of handwaving as well. For example, the whole ring thing is meh.  We don't even get a list of what is stored in the rings.  This sets up a plot device like someone who has a giant inventory space with this and that.  They can just pull something out of thin air to solve any problem. -1 Do not like. Stories that are unclear about what is possible and impossible are frustrating.

There is also a lot of stuff that doesn't get explored very well.  This webnovel is very skill/ability heavy.  He levels up entire classes to max level in the course of a few thousand words. The whole tree tamer class seems like a missed opportunity. All the levels were obtained with just some magic nails.  Where was the trial he had to overcome to complete that class?  There is a lot of this where stuff barely gets explored and me as a reader gets left thinking. "Wait what?"

The best way to describe this story would be "fun." This story is far from the most realistic story I've read, but it's largely made up for by just being fun. The characters also manage to fall under this category, favoring having fun interactions with the main character over being realistic given their life's circumstance.

That being said, I do have some complaints that shouldn't significantly effect the story. One of which is the story tries to hide severe ignorance on certain topics behind the typical fantasy setting, and I'm fully aware most people believe expecting a certain level of realism out of a fantasy story, something many story's manage to do just fine, is unreasonable, and the other is that the world is absurdly peaceful, despite having actual thousands of races and stuff akin to race wars in the past. Addressing both of these issues isn't exactly difficult, the former being solved by just upping the absurdity a bit, and the other being to add general unrest to the world at various intervals

As for the top 1 star review, it's taking a specific, shocking, chapter, misunderstanding it, and then extrapolates it to the author's notes. With how prevalent and intrusive some of the AN's are, I'm not all that surprised it happened. I even had to do a double take at that chapter and go and read the previous AN's after remember the review. All in all it was just a surprisingly rare shock value chapter, in my opinion.
