Imagine an OP, supernatural System with Missions, Stats, Shop, Skills and the lot, with the power to turn anybody into a gigachad that can f**k bitches and get riches, and make any woman addicted to his manbits.

Now imagine that a normal, actually decent bloke with morals (and a big d*ck) got his hands on said System.

Imagine somebody wrote a story about that, with an engaging style, 9/10 grammar, interesting, lifelike characters and raunchy, well-written, varied and meaningful H scenes.

The story and writing is fun, smutty, and emotional. What more could you ask for in a guilty pleasure read? Unfortunately what really pulls any sense of immersion away from me is the setting. 

Yeah, not the titular love & lust system itself, or how the MC's scholarship granted apartment allowed him to live with a female roommate, or his magical ability to somehow not kill his partners when going for a tumble. My oh so precious immersion is shattered because the story is set in Japan, woe is me!

But it's like the author took a bunch of Americans (or any other heavily westernised population) then instantly teleported them all to Japan, and bam "This is were you've lived your whole life, but keep your experiences and personality you developed from a culture that is often at odds with that of where you currently are situated, don't question anything  (⊙▂⊙) ".

The characters, their personality and banter (things I loved), all felt entirely out of place for people who were supposedly born and raised in Japan. Even the little things like

I understand the general culture and practices inherent to Japan will not apply to every single individual living there, but for a country where conformity is king and individuality is often snuffed out it all just felt so unnaturally jarring.

I'm sure for some this will not be an issue whatsoever and that's perfectly fine. I'm just ranting a bit because this tiny thing is what's preventing me from further indulging in this fiction. It's not my intention to offend anyone, and I'm very sorry if you have been, I recognise that any discussion to do with culture is a very touchy topic these days I don't want to be banished to the cancel realm.

Despite this arguably scathing critique I'm giving it a 4/5 because from what I've seen it's still a far more enjoyable read than a vast majority of other fictions in this genre, and is definitely worth giving a shot.

*The author does set the novel in the future of 2037 and I am aware of this, it's just that such drastic and complete change in Japanese society over only 16 years seemed entirely improbable to me so I didn't even think to acknowledge it as the reason. I attributed it to the much more open ideals on s*xuality which we see growing in younger generations in the west, and our characters are such youths.

Story is not necessarily bad but there are some obvious flaws. Main character had a terrible life story which in itself is not bad but every single character the MC met so far learned his life story after just knowing each other for a couple hours. Honestly if a waiter asked for his order he will probably still go on a rant how things sucked for him. When it is as forceful as that I can only see it as a manipulative tactic to make everyone around him feel pity for him. Aside from that we are supposed to believe that the guy was continually abused and taken advantage of by people through his life but he makes friends and s*x partners as easy as any popular kid or extrovert would. Where are the insecurities, the trust issues, the bitterness, the anxieties that any person in his position should have. It's hard to take the story seriously when the one moment the character is het look at me I went through so much pain and suffering that would have broken even the most hardwilled people in the world and it a surprise I didn't end up in crime, drugs or killing myself, so....... I like you wanne be friends.

It is very well written with likable main characters and an interesting premise, however there is still room for improvement in the writing, but it's definitely and enjoyable reading experience.

So far the system doesn't seem to be used much as the main character mostly ignores it, I really want to see more of it, but currently it's making me feel that it could be written out entirely and replaced with another kind of "magic" to explain the mc's fast growth. Though, this is only where I'm currently at in the story.

This is my personal opinion, but I believe that the authors note at the start should be a little clearer as I initially read it and was completely fine with the idea that "Just because he had s*x with a woman, doesn't mean that she's 'his'." "Nor does he care if the women he hook up with have s*x with someone else." and although I agree with the statement, I didn't realize that the story would be about polyamory and I am not into that, so it should be clearer for future readers who may be of a similar opinion, or perhaps even for those that are really into that sort of thing.

Overall, good story, but I will be putting it aside for now.

Great story, very well written! Despite the fantasy theme (the system), this story is very realistic, and the main character doesn’t suddenly have all his problems solved for him. He actually makes an effort to better himself and is grateful for those around him (and frankly, he deserves it after all he’s been through)  

All the girls are actually enjoyable, and the smut is A-1 😏

I really like the side characters in this novel and how the women are not one-dimensional characters that only serve to fit fetishes. They also have their own personalities, strengths, and weaknesses that allow them to be both likable and relatable. The grammar is pretty decent as well, I don't have any complaints about that.

The two problems I have with this story are the main character and the existence of the system itself.

I'd say the problem I have is the main character is that he seems too perfect and gets things too easily for me to take him too seriously.

In regards to the system, it exacerbates the problems with the MC. It taints his efforts with the things it sells, and makes me apathetic towards the MC and his "struggles." I put struggles in quotations because I know he's not even going to struggle since he has the system. Some specifics down below:

Maybe I'm salty because I expected a coming-of-age story, but didn't expect to see wish fulfillment MC basically getting everything he ever wants. I think the story and premise are not suited towards the system and wish-fulfillment category. I certainly didn't expect the story to devolve into what it is right now based on the summary.

Your MC isn't someone that wants a lot of power, wealth, or recognition. He's just a kid trying to better himself in a world treating him like sh*t. The system turns a likable story about the struggles of a down and about kid into a power fantasy. Instead of someone working hard to change their looks and worldview to improve their situation, we have someone who gets better at any subject in a matter of days. I mean, based on his mature attitude towards life and the system he could still get the achievements he wants in life even without the system. It might be at a slower pace, but it would be more enjoyable to read.

What you have already is good, but I fear that soon you will find that your MC has already lost his reason to do what he's doing since everything is too easy.

You might look at this story and think SMUT, and you'd be right, but, you'd also be dead wrong. I came into this story for the smut, but, at chapter 26 I realized I was reading for the actual plot. Like to the extent where if this author toned down the smut a bit this we be a great novel period. So, read this, you'll love it.
