The cover picture was drawn by yours truly and colored by an incredibly talented friend.

The story is also available on Royal Road, and Tapas, though it is here where I'm the most active and where I upload first.

    Status: prologue: nowhere to run

All-around solid read. The characters really hammer the story home. Nina is a great protagonist. She's got all of the good traits of a child character; despite being young she is still confident and capable, but not so much so that it's unbelievable. Not to mention that her confident attitude compliments her cute design.

There is a deep lore as well as complex backstories that make both the world and the characters memorable. Even within the first few chapters, there is a lot for readers to sink their teeth into.

Grammar is fine. The way quotes are written is non-standard, but it's not something that will hamper a reader's understanding.

Overall, an engaging story strengthened by the characters that drive it (and the art is a neat bonus!).

<This review is meant as a constructive critic towards improvement.>

    Spoiler

Looking closely one -> Looking closely, oneDeep through the dark forest, a shadowy figure tore through the cold night air as fast as the body allowed. Behind said figure were another four giving chase like a pack of predators chasing down their prey. -> Behind it, were four others giving... (you can use it, since you haven't specified a gender/name/or any plausible touchable label. I changed it a bit since that 'another' is annoying there.) Following her footsteps right not too behind ->> too far behind

Her mind was racing just as fast as her heart, trying to recollect all the events that have transpired recently -> that transpired. At best, you can use past perfect and say "had transpired" It is the tense used to designate an action that occurred. (The past perfect refers to a time earlier than before now. It is used to make it clear that one event happened before another in the past. It does not matter which event is mentioned first - the tense makes it clear which one happened first.) Until she heard two powerful explosions one after the other, --> Until she heard two powerful explosions, one after the other,  Nina was trying to climb the ravine again, which at this point was not so steep compared to the spot where she had previously jumped when she heard something disturbing the water behind her, followed by a loud splashing sound, and hurried her pace. (Try to read this paragraph out loud.) She tried to look through the bushes she was hiding behind, to see what the sound’s source was but again couldn’t see anything. (It doesn't sound coherent.) --> She tried to look through the bushes to see what the sound’s source was but again couldn’t see anything. (Cleaner.)

The loud crack of the dry leaves and old branches that broke under her body could have been heard all over the forest on the silent night. (This passive voice is rough, not to forget you're writing the novel with past tense.) Ended up taking a go at the comments of the prologue, and found the Deeprotsorcerer mentioning something alike, hopefully this'll help you too.

Status: chapter 7: a twist of fate

Here to review! On a whole, the plot is an enjoyable foray into a world bound by strong rules of chivalry and knights wielding finesse and strength in a weakening kingdom! We follow the young, incredibly naive, main character Nina, who is an apprentice priestess. She is almost painfully innocent, with strong preconceived notions about savagery and barbarism. Definitely a growth arc coming for her, with her budding friendship with our adorable white night already slightly changing the way she sees the world as of the chapter I read up to.

The grammar has some issues, along with some lacking descriptions. The dialogue is bolded and italicized, so just a warning! However author is constantly striving to improve their craft, and quite capable at doing so, so there is a good chance that the feedback given to the author has already been edited by the time you get here.

The interactions and characters are quite natural, with flaws and strengths alike. A couple of Verkan's old acquaintances feel a little tropey/expositiony, but that's a minor thing.

All in all, definitely feels like connecting back to my roots as a reader. Sweet plot with a historical infusion, nice quotes to set the mood, and a fairly black-and-white saga of a story (in a good way) with stakes and a great cast.
