    Status: chapter 188: annoying pet

The litrpg tag is quite misleading, after the first dozen or so chapters this is not a litrpg. The system elements basically just serve to show us how fast the MC can power up, but after a certain point it's pretty much completely dropped, only happening offscreen on rare occasion.

Now what this actually is is a dark fantasy political kingdom building story. Kinda reminds me of Overlord but the author actually put some effort into writing the politics and remembered to actually have villains that can pose a problem so the story can have interesting conflicts.

Once I realized it wasn't a litrpg, I actually quite liked the story for what it is. The characters mostly feel multi-dimensional, the conflicts don't feel forced, the MC does a good job of not being a complete genocidal maniac, which is what a lot of badly written monster protags are, and also not being just a human with four arms. He does feel, for the most part, like an inhuman monster, serving his own motivations without being overly sentimental or overly cruel.

As far as my gripes with the story, there's lot of s*x. Sometimes the author is just way too horny when writing, even beyond s*x scenes there's near-constant talk of s*x throughout the story. Also about half or more of that is r*pe, like many authors before them they heard the words dark fantasy and immediately tried to cram as many r*pe scenes as possible into the story. I would actually say that there was one in particular that was used to great literary effect, but when there's so many of them sprinkled throughout the story they just begin to lose impact. Also the author seems to have a blatant piss fetish.

There's also a lot of songs in the story, which I never know how to read and, in my opinion, just detracts from the reading experience. It didn't work in Tolkien and it sure as hell doesn't work here.

Another thing, there's just a lot of random references throughout the story. Like A LOT. Some are to video games, books, movies, and shows, but particularly many are to certain kinds of YouTubers. Personally I don't think this is handled very well. If you don't get the references then it just seems like a random out of place thing, like there was one line that I thought sounded weird so I googled it and it turned out to be a My Little Pony reference. And if you do get the references then it's completely immersion breaking. About a half-dozen significant, plot-affecting characters are named and designed based on Minecraft YouTubers, which to me just makes the story feel cheap. If it was a one-off wink and nudge thing then I wouldn't mind as much, or if the references were less direct and overt, but it's just in your face and makes it feel like I'm reading AU fanfic.

My other complaints pretty much all boil down to the writing. I seem to remember it being acceptable towards the start, but at this point it's quite bad most of the time. The sentence construction in particular is really bad and there's just an egregious amount of missing words throughout, alongside a colossal amount of spelling, punctuation, conjugation, and agreement errors. I'm probably a lot pickier about this stuff than most, so I'm still giving this a 4/5, mostly because I really like the story itself. If it had good writing I'd be willing to give it a 5/5 despite the weird s*x stuff and dumb references.

The 1-7 chapters are amazing every chapter up to chapter 8 I kept saying damn out loud cause of how savage the MC was and it was great this is a rare kind of story in scribblehub from the self insert cringy op protaganist and harems this is a fresh breath of air but then chapter 8 came and you know I was genuinely exited to read this cause I was really enjoying this type of story but chapter 8 came and... You know it genuinely impressed me of how just one character just took out all of my excitement and enjoyment of reading this the dread I felt when I realise that the most edgy cringy character in this story was gonna the MC first friend she is such a downgrade from the mc  in terms of character this basic bitch backstory and the cliche revenge plot and to top off that basic bitch cake it doesn't make sense so the father got a phrophecy about how his daughter is basically the a bomb waiting to blow so you know how the father treats this nuke ticking time bomb he decides to imprison and torture her lover.... Whyyyyy that makes no f**king senseeeeee thats just gonna make her hate you.

agreeing with the other review, as soon as the girl is introduced it feels like the MC turns into a side character idling by while he slowly becomes more human. Ruined a promising read

Dont trust other reviews. The Princess is ruthless as MC. He doesnt becomes "more human". This review might contain little spoilers but it wont cause you to be angry. and even I think you will be thankfull for me. anyways...

I love this story. at one point  I completely forgot MC came from another world. normally this would be a bad thing but author did an exelent job at character development. he is now turly a beast and smarter than all humans. he uses his knowledge about his past life to survive and get stronger. at one point he being from another world just becomes his backstory. altough some hate when the princess is introduced, I like to imagine a beautifull, genius red haired and red eyed girl with a strong, intelligent and primordial monster on a throne. they treat eachother as partners and friends. some may argue that this makes MC like a pet or less agressive, but I dont think thats the case. MC never shows pity and with the help of the princess he can do whatever he wants to people. the princess is equally ruthless to enemies as MC. she lets him do whatever he wants with deathrow prisoners so nobody questions what they are doing. MC gets stronger without stupid humans interfering about what he is doing.

    Spoiler

he makes an army of hive creatures.

so no one can opose him. and author didn an exelent job with background characters and the world around MC. this is not like other boring stories where MC does whatever he wants like a stupid person, MC is cunning and ruthless. this makes a perfect combination againts those who MC will face. at the old times these creatures were killed because they couldnt work together or from other reasons. but MC is not stupid as them. he will use whatever means to achive his goal. even if it is ruthless, even if it is morally disgusting or unacceptable, even if it changes the whole world...

This is the first and only series I gave 5 stars. I read many stories here, in webnovel or in other sites.  I think this story deserves a go.

Really like this, genuinelly feels like he is a monster and not a reincarnated human with a monster body. Bravo.

I was pleasantly surprised by this story. This sub-genre is usually like cotton candy... suggary and insubstantial. I was expecting more of the same and the first few chapters, while quite well written, didn't do much to convince me otherwise. However, the MC really grew on me and has much more depth (and growth) than others in this sub-genre. Then the plot elements and worldbuilding began to kick in and captured my interest. A monster MC story with more setting and lore than *stereotypical medieval fantasy setting #254*? What is this and what have you done with my expectations!? Then came the ending of Chapter 25... and I was left grinning from ear to ear. I'm hooked. The sheer personality of the MC is infectious. A tantalizing blend of intelligence, practicality, lighthearted fun, and psychopathic tendencies that blends together to create a unique and genuine monster MC, rather than just some power-hungry emo in monster cosplay. He's what would happen if you made Bo Burnham and Hanibal Lecter partners at a creative writing workshop. The song at the end of c25 is the perfect summation of his character. It was such a good conclusion it feels like I just finished the prologue and there should be a "Chapter 1" when I turn the page. That, or this movie's title card is about to appear. I can't wait to see what he'll get up to next. After all, "... if I get more of you, who knows what I'll do!"

This novel is incredible! I love when the MC is not human especially when they are robots, skeletons or golems (which are pretty hard to find -. -) So this novel is perfect. The MC is just really well thought of and it makes me REALLLY wanna see an actual picture of it ;- ; but imaging it isn't actually that hard so not a big issue with that. I highly recommend this novel to anyone!

Amazing novel. One of the few novel with nonhuman-MC that has an actual well thought story, nicely developed characters and a very interesting power dynamic.

I especially love how human politics is navigated by a monster that doesn't care about it in any way. The story and world building are absolutely phenomenal, with its lore (very extensive) and how the various races interacts. The MC powers are also handled very well, it's not the typical wish fulfilment isekai where the only thing he does is eat, kill, and get stronger.

Also, there are no clichè as of now, and every character has their own distinct personality. Absolutely love it, MC is not just a mindless murder hobo; the way of how being in an ancient monster body affects his mind and evolve his way of thinking is also very realistic and curious.

ATTENTION: some reviews say that the MC becomes more human when he met the girl: that's absolutely FALSE. He doesn't become more human in any way. He doesn't care about humans and doesn't hesitate to slaughter them if they annoy him. Don't listen to those people that barely read 10 chapters and made false assumptions about the whole story.

The best Nonhuman story that there is on this website without a doubt.

The story is quite good. Do give it a try if you like non-human MC and are fine with story not solely focusing on one character. I personally love the way the side characters are written. Though I love my loner MC, I don't mind him not being able to do everything by himself (especially when he is a non-human) and is on the sidelines as long as the characters he's getting help from are not annoying, which in this case ain't.

Fun read. MC starts off with a very human-like mind, and as he lives in his new ancient beast body he begins to change. It's a great read if you love non human protagonists. He isn't naive and thinks logically. Sure, some of his actions aren't seen as "moral" but it adds to his new life as a monster. The other characters in the story actually FEEL unique, it's as if they have motives of their own and aren't there In the story to make the MC look better or stronger (commonly seen in stories where a girl is introduced and all of a sudden she is MC harem member and doesnt add to the plot whatsoever). This story doesn't do that, instead the characters are meaningful. It really feels as if the MC is interacting with other characters learning from them and they also learn from him. Great novel overall. 5 stars.
