It was revealed that Bai Caoren was a head of Wuyun intelligence in the north, and part of a larger plan to overtake the mountains through the means of arranged marriages between Bai clan and local cultivators. Despite being supposedly dead, until recently there was a spy loyal to her, planted in Kiyi fortress.
The Supreme Leader of the Wuyun sect, she rules with an iron fist and throughout her 30 years of leadership, she managed to unite the entire densely populated lowlands under her rule. An alcoholic fond of strong spirits, she truly believes that the world will be better off under her leadership, and fears all kinds of demonic artifacts and cultivators.
She is a (much older) sister of Bai Caoren and Bai Lianfei's aunt.
100 years ago, he led the monks to victory over the mundane kings and established the new world order based on the treaty of Changan, where sects rule, and non cultivators are second class citizens.

Leader of the Songshu sect that presides over the town of Yafan. An old friend of Bai Caoren and Lan Chaoxiang. His governorship over the town is considered rational and efficient, and he's widely known as a man of virtue.
A happy-go-lucky 17 year old student of the Shuangshan sect, known to play pranks on Wen Fengli and slacking off. His personal philosophy is enjoying life, and he thinks little of cultivation and otherworldly pursuits. Tall, fit, and handsome- and along with that, insanely talented, he's the strongest and most popular student of the sect.
Although his family line favors the element of steel, thanks to his unparalleled level of power he is able to project qi outwards in the form of elementally neutral qi blasts.

The qi deviation incident during the tournament leaves him partially paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Seeing drastic changes that happened overnight to Ming Libai, and being suspicious of Bai Lianfei, he fakes obedience, while secretly conducting his own investigation. Due to miscommunication with Zhanzhan, he thinks Wen Fengli is dead.

Her face scarred by Chen Mengyao's sword, and having barely survived the battle of Chenfei, she was afterwards promoted to the head of local intelligence department and awarded an enhanced blade that once belonged to Bai Lianfei. Although her specialization was reconnaissance, she did her best hunting after Yan Bojing, then Yawei, then suppressing demi-human riots....and now she's on a mission to a far northern town of Yafan to find out whether Bai Caoren is still alive. A person of Chuhua ethnicity, she was adopted to the Wuyun sect at an early age and personally raised by Bai Zihan.
