The story starts off slow, but by chapter 7 it truly began to grow on me. The main character, an Imp demon, initially comes across as little more than a wild creature, which made the early chapters less engaging for me. However, by chapters 7 or 8, the narrative takes a turn, and both the character and the reader begin to explore and understand more of the world and its intricacies.
Having read up to chapter 108, I can confidently say that the character development for the imp is masterfully done. True to his nature as a demon and dark spawn, he doesn’t become more "human" as the story progresses, but instead gains deeper self-awareness, a stronger sense of his capabilities, and a clear moral foundation—his personal bottom line. This nuanced growth makes him both compelling and authentic.
The action scenes are fantastic, and the level-up system is executed brilliantly as always. The worldbuilding is rich, with setups and payoffs that feel well-planned and satisfying.
The only downside is the lingering cliffhanger, which seems to have become a trademark of this author. Since the story is free to read, I can't complain too much, but had I invested financially, I would likely feel more frustrated about its incomplete status. Unfortunately, the Patreon and Discord associated with the story appear inactive, which suggests no resolution is forthcoming.
Final Rating: 5/5
Despite the abrupt drop-off, I enjoyed the story immensely. The quality of the writing and the depth of the worldbuilding are enough to warrant a perfect score in my eyes. If the story had been completed, I’m confident most readers would consider it a masterpiece. It's absolutely worth the read—just go in knowing that the journey may be unfinished.
