This story tries to tell a subversive & progressive story but fails to sell you on either of the characters. Stanley isn't a horny idiot and isn't ruled by his libido but unfortunately that's one of his only positive traits. His cold calculation is fine but it's combined with him being a complete and total asshole to epic proportions. Those traits are fine but not in the sense that this story is setting up a romance between him and Ezraphel. Our heroine Ezraphel is similarly flawed she comes across as confident to the point of arrogance along with not caring for the main character up until the point of figuring out he's supposed to be her soulmate whereupon her entire character does a flip. This leads to the impression that she's being disingenuous and putting up a front to please Stanley. So we have a cast of characters with glaring character flaws. You could argue it's the start of the relationship and the rest of the story is for growing alongside each other, which may or may not be true. There's just one problem with this they have absolutely no chemistry with each other. Them getting together seems contrived and forced because it is. They both have zero redeeming qualitys and seem to only make the other worse. Ezraphel can't take no for an answer and Stanely as stated earlier is an asshole. To put icing on the cake they're both physically abusive towards each other. Sorry I just can't be sold going fowards on a realistic romance developing.

For a romance/comedy history that is very interesting. We have a relationship that is open for turnaround and how author use known ideias to do some jokes. But at the same time, considering the 'open nature' of this novel, introduce new things that adds comedy gender of novel.
