Synopsis

It was a freak accident. Someone ran the light at an intersection and before I knew it... my world turned black. But I didn't die then. Instead, I was forced to lament and regret over all of my failures. Lament about how this so-called genius was lower than dirt even at the very end.

And that should have been it. After my consciousness faded, I should have disappeared.

But I woke up.

A different world, another life. A fresh start.
This time, for sure...!

My bad habit kicked in. I've been rereading and watching Mushoku Tensei recently and got the itch to write this. Kind of self-insert, but not really. Extremely self-indulgent though, so if things don't make too much sense... er, sorry in advance?

I'm also trying putting this out on Webnovel too to see how that works, though updates there will be slower than here.

    Status: ch 81 – child – with great power…

This is a very well written story, but I can't take the MC anymore. At first he was great character to read, but as I continued to read I realized he was paper thin in will. He has no backbone and constantly bends his back and only derives joy from others which is a sad existence. He's also, how to put this nicely, a ped0. He a full grown man has only felt attraction to two characters a 7 year old and woman who has been described to look at most a preteen in all of Tensei's media. At first I just put at the back of my mind, but eventually I couldn't read it anymore, and came to a realization that the MC is paper-thin character who was almost no will of his own but to be the Foundation of a family of less than stellar reputation (paul). He constantly lowers himself physically and mentally in front of family and to himself, bends over backwards for a man I can't care for and forces character development for, and also can't seem to grow a backbone and has to constantly rely on others for him to improve mentally. You would think after been given a second chance he would force himself to improve. He says he improves, but everytime he improves he says it wasn't him but Roxy, Paul, Lily, Zenith or even Sylphy, a seven year old girl are the more mature on when every single one of these people would be suffering with out him. To put it simply while written well the story falls because the character doesn't development only causes development, he seems to constantly take one step forward but takes.9 steps back, and have a literal taboo taste in women.

It's good. The writing style flows nicely and is easy to read. There aren't any grammatical errors i've noticed so far. It's actually one of those novels that has *character development*. Pretty crazy if you ask me. And it's actually one of the good types of character development. Often times you will see authors throwing bad character traits at their protagonist, so that they can say they have character development when the protagonist overcomes these faults. Only problem being, that the protagonist becomes an insufferable and annoying to read about character in an otherwise good story. This doesn't have that. What I like about this novel, is how easy the problems are to identify. Rudy was an adult but is now a child and also acts like it. Which is good considering that the way we act isn't solely based on our conscious decisions. Even better are the adults in this story. It kinda blew my mind to find a story with a child protagonist and actually capable adults. I honestly think that this novel is way above the average on this site. No chapter has left me bored yet. There is always an essence to each chapter that brings the story forward in some way while also keeping a nice pace.

    Good job author

This is just perfect! There isn't a single thing I haven't liked so far. The characters are depicted just like in the original (with the exception of Rudy, of course) and they even have grown a lot. This version of Rudy is great, for a variety of reasons, mostly because I like how industrious he is. All the other characters are very loveable, especially Lilia, Zenith, Sylphy, and Roxy. Paul is... We won't talk about him in this review... >: (

The writing style is simply amazing and easy to follow. Typos are to be expected, but they are very rare and they are fixed quickly. While the length of the chapters is shorter than I would usually like, I think it suits the narrative the author is taking.

Overall, 10/10. I wish I could give more stars to this novel.

    Pros:

    1. Pacing is slightly on the slow side. As of ch 74, hes like 6 or 7 years old.

    2. MC has a good work ethic and is likable

    3. Magic is throughly explained and MC is creative.

    4. Most of the characters are likable and its fun seeing them interact.

    Cons:

    1. Harems, but oddly enough it doesn’t really ruin the story and feels earned.

    2. MC is OP but if your into that it wont bother you. Im just not feeling that danger.

    3. MC is slightly dense. Luckily most of the characters are pretty good at showing him the light and generally dont let MC fumble around in misunderstanding land.

    4. Confusing bad guys. Could care less about this hitomi/being w guy. Hes annoying and frankly sucks at his job. The story just treats him like hes a spirit of bad luck. “Oh I almost killed my family, must have been that silly being w again”🤪

How peculiar the writer of this seems to be extremely proficient in taking advantage of the setting and setting up alternate timeline of events for the original series.

And I also know the author has their own sorya original series about vtubers so yeah I can see most of this going well.

A wonderful story. The characters within the story are delightful with their action feeling very human-like. They learn, they regret, compromise, compare, and apologize. They bluff and gives and seeks warmth. Wonderful interactions are made, and that in itself is simply amazing.

The words and sentences are simple yet good enough to picture the scene without confusing the viewer. Regarding conflict, there haven't been much of "spilling blood" and "severing heads" kind of act, but there definitely is conflicts nonetheless which weaves itself beautifully into the story.

Readers may find the characters a bit hard to visualize (perhaps?) but you can definitely get through it by just googling their names on google, it IS a fan fic after all. About worldbuilding, I do hope there will be much more of it in upcoming chapters.

Conclusion = Read it, it's a great. Keep it going author. Hope you all the best 👍

Excellent fanfic, especially so for those that read/watch MT and disliked it due to the 'original' Rudeus perversion. The same yet quite different characters, with different POVs here and there from characters around the MC or important for the plot, lots of laughs, and WOW, finally a fic that makes use of the 'magic is omnipotent' trait of MT's world, though naturally, it takes a lot of time/chapters for anything out of scale to appear.

Since there's no adventuring arc like in the original, is a bit hard for those that didn't read to make the 'power-level' clear, but I believe that in the following arcs we will get that resolved.

I've said it before on Webnovel, and I'll say it again. It's a genuinely good fic. Good job.

i love Mushoku tensei but what makes it special is a good plot and a well developed main character. Mushoku tensei is a story about a useless neet, but he got a second chance, he chose to change himself into a better person. The change of the main character makes the meaning of the series no longer like the original, making it look like the mass isekai series.

But the overall plot is quite good.
