In a world of superheroes and villains, Gavin McArthur feels like more of a shell than a person even after he transfers to a school for kids who are likely to soon posses an Alter form, a form that grants the user super powers and a different appearance. But what do you do when your Alter form represents an uncomfortable truth about yourself that you're not prepared to face?
CW: Contains scenes involving characters struggling with disabilities, themes involving non-consensual de-transition, verbal and emotional abuse, and an instance of descriptive gore.
Best super hero story I've ever read. Can't wait for more chapters.

Reading the reviews I was expecting some sort of harrowing descent into misery and heartache. But it turned out that it's actually just a normal story with conflict and drama and flawed characters that don't always make the correct decisions and situations that lead to lasting permanent consequences and an honest portrayal of a transition journey with its highs and lows. And honestly? Kickass.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It definitely had some rough spots and hiccups in terms of prose and dialogue and worldbuilding, especially in the beginning, but they also got better as they went along. And I'd say it was good at tugging at my heartstrings where it mattered (yes it did make me cry at times).
There is a niche of gender bender stories here that are basically fluffy trans wish fulfilment stories in disguise, and many people like them, including myself. But I love it more when I see stories that keep the trans protagonist and also have a little bit more bite to them. That are willing to stew in the low moments so as to make the highs that much sweeter.
There is tragedy and loss in this story, but it is ultimately an uplifting one, and I love it for it.

Wow!
I'm not usually one to write reviews, but after sitting down and reading this in one sitting I felt compelled to put into words just how much I enjoyed this story.
And then I realised I couldn't. Not adequately enough to truly convey how enraptured I was. So I'll just say this: Ricochet was such an amazing read and I'm so so glad I found it when I did. The worldbuilding, the characters, the conflict, the everything in this story is just teeming with so much love and passion and emotion. Please please do yourself a favour and give Ricochet a chance. It's phenomenal.
Kayden. Oh my stars, Kayden. I have the biggest, dumbest smile on my face at the mere thought of them. They were just... perfect.
And then 'Conservation of Energy' came along.
Getting my hopes up with that "Healer, remember?" line, only for Hex to shatter my heart a moment later... I was in tears. How dare you play with my emotions like this?
Stars above, I love this story and will definitely be checking out SarcasticNut's other works.

I find it a bit to write reviews, so I hope this one isn't too short.
Anyway, this story is one of the best trans stories on this site, on par with Dreadnought!

Premise and grammar are great, but there are some parts that are not to my liking, although it's more of a personal preference than an error on the Author's part. You should give this novel a try and see if it's to your liking.
