Sporemageddon is an anti-capitalist novel starring a child that was forced to mature under an industrialist hand. It handles unions, capitalism, exploitation and magic exceptionally well, and I trust the author to continue writing an excellent book into the future! I'd like to note that my favorite thing about the novel is the main character's scientific approach to problems. It's clear that she's fighting an insurmountable foe, but she takes great care to improve herself and her arsenal after every encounter with the enemy; at the rate this story is going, that 'enemy' might end up being the whole capitalist world! Throw your wrench in and read this novel, for real.
