Synopsis

Our protagonist, Kimura Takeshi, reincarnated in a weird romcom manga, as a side character.

"My two childhood friends are acting weird!"- this is the name of the manga. A weird romcom in a weird school. But why weird? This is a typical romance manga where the dense MC, Reiji Miyano, have two childhood friends doting for him. His harem includes many other characters too. So why weird?

The weird thing is that the school has a rule: Every single student has to HAVE a boyfriend/girlfriend. If you don't, then the teachers will do a lottery to RANDOMLY choose a partner for you!

Weird school is this! However it's just a manga. That's what Kimura thought. But now he is in that manga world. And he is the best friend of the MC. And his daily life is going to be more eventful than ever!

Disclaimer: This rom-com has more "comedy" than "drama".

This is a light hearted story that is good for a relaxing read.

The story does a good job at invoking that sweet romance and fuzzy feeling in your heart. It also manages to build tension while occasionally leaving a sour/bitter taste when it makes you relate to the inner sufferings of the highschoolers due to experiencing their first bittersweet love.

All in all, I'd recommend you to read this piece of work if you are looking for a causal read with light-hearted innocent/pure romance.

-I'll judge a work not by comparison but by personal experience so 4/5 :D keep the good work Author :P

Not my cup of tea but I could imagine others would enjoy this rom-com. Also Take this review with a grain if salt, I only read to the 7th chapter so maybe I'm totally wrong.

That being said, the only gripe I'll make known without really being a spoiler is despite the comedy being mostly "Ain't this wacky?!" The narrator, aka protagonist, acts/emulates the faux protagonist Reiji in painfully similar trope (s) in this genre that is supposedly being subverted (that's the main joke). This would be okay if not for the fact that the protagonist is aware and cognizant of this oddness. Which is like a strange direction ya know? Cause now regarding the awareness to the "reality" of the world he now inhibits he kinda feels like a puppet or an actor that's just playing along to a joke only he knows (by extension us). Which is kinda... sad, pitiful, bizarre? Idk, but that feels like the opposite of a comedy imo.

Well, if people enjoy the above mentioned I won't be a wet blanket, I just don't get it unfortunately. Have a good day!

As you can read the disclaimer "this story has more comedy than drama", if you expect a rom-com with serious drama, then you might be disappointed.

However, if you are like me, who wants a laugh and nice fluffy romance, then this is a great story for you. It is a very cute and light hearted story. The comedy is also top notch. And I loved every single bit of it.

I would like to mention that while I write about the stuff I don’t like below I still agree with what @Chillfire02 said in their review.

Like @Chillfire02 said, this a pretty lighthearted story, not exactly a masterpiece but absolutely above average. The main reason why I’m not giving it 5 stars is because of how hard it is to relate with characters. When serious moments happen in the novel its hard to get super invested in them because of how over the top the characters are. Almost all of the characters are so dramatic that they don’t even seem like real people (Yeah, the plot is based on a weird manga, I know), so while the romance is nice to read about the more serious moments I more or less tune out or don’t pay much attention to. That said this is just my problem with the novel so take my review with a grain of salt and read it for yourself.
