This novel is set in modern Japan, where gender roles are reversed, and women are expected to be the breadwinner of their household while men are viewed as the fairer sex.
Since such a story is written from the male point of view, the protagonist, born in a Matriarchial society, will adhere strictly to the world's gender stereotypes and the societal norms surrounding it.

This novel has nothing to do with Rent a Girlfriend manga/anime; any unintentional similarity to the same is purely coincidental.
