Synopsis

When Yao Shen, Patriarch of the Heavenly Sky Sect, ascends and regains memories of his past life on Planet Earth, he realizes that he can no longer allow himself to accept the cruel and violent ways of Eliria, the realm of cultivation.

So he decides to change it.

It was time to found a new sect. One based on the values of honor and equality over senseless violence and discrimination. A sect where all, from the mortal farmer’s son to a sect elder's daughter, were held accountable to the same rules.

Welcome to the Modern Sect.

I don't read much of this because, frankly, I hate the moral rules that the characters usually have. Their way of thinking just feels incredibly dumb and takes me out of a story faster than a <insert joke> and it just stops me from actually appreciating what this part of fiction actually has to offer.

Is most of it terrible? Yes. Is this fiction terrible? No. It's great. Greater than most of the stuff I've read. With a premise that actually makes me not hate it, I can't say there is anything I hate. Style is great. Grammar doesn't have obvious errors. Characters are perfect.

    5/5

Too much long winded explanation to make sure that we understand author point. Lack of flow in discussion that interrupt immersion in the story.

But a very well thought plot, new concept in xianxia with a slow beginning and that promise sect building and slice of life. Only 2  characters explained deeply so far, I cannot evaluate author skills on this point.

Grammar and Editing error has been taken care of.

This is a pretty well written xianxia story. It's got some standard xianxia style, with long-winded monologues and very expressive facial reactions, but overall well written.

The slow is start. Five chapters in and all we've got are Yao Shen proclaiming his ideals for the new sect before the disciples of the former sects. It's slow, but gradually getting there.

Infosfar, there's not much to say about the characters. Yao Shen has obviously been changed by re-experiencing his past life memories but while he gained the moralities of a modern Earth man, his former personality hasn't been completely tossed aside (he's a xianxia cultivator sect patriarch, afterall). The other few named characters are rather basic at the moment but most of the story has just been Yao Shen coming to terms with his past life.

But this is only the beginning, so the story and characters will be fleshed out later on. It's a decent read so far.
