Serious-senpai's Sanctuary

Honestly, it's kinda amazing.

There's more action packed in here than in the 600+ chapters of the original's afterstory, but it still manages to preserve the consequence-free, laid-back atmosphere that accompanies the ground beneath Kaito's feet. The characters remain (mostly) true to themselves and how they were in the original, but there are some nicks here and there—something which I'm not personally very nitpicky about.

By the way, seeing Kaito get power-ups feels so strange, but it's not jarringly out-of-character, so it's fine.

Though, I was pretty taken aback by how much more confident Kaito seemed in the beginning. After figuring out it was a timeskip on the order of years, though, at least that much change in character looked well-justified afterward.

If there's only one thing I'll pin as a relative negative, it's that compared to YuuShou, the romance element here feels minimized compared to the amount of action. Personally, I like the action, and I think this fic has done well so far.

However, after re-introducing Alyssa, the possibility is now 100% that the author's going to revive other long-forgotten plot elements, and I can only hope for something sugary-sweet to result from it. I mean, Kaito going on an other-world sightseeing date, after seeing and purchasing said option on the group chat's market, is something that can only happen in this fic.

Language & Grammar

If you're coming from Foxaholic's English translation of YuuShou, you'll find that this fic's tone and pacing is around 80–90% similar to the translation. There are several differences in how Kaito and some other characters express themselves, but you'll probably stop noticing it past the first set of chapters.

The grammar is pretty good and there are only some minor mistakes that look like they were committed at 1AM. Again, the language more-or-less matches how the English translation sounds, so if you find the English a bit unnatural, it's an intentional choice to match the original story's translation's aesthetic (at least, that's how it feels like to me).
