Humanity has finally achieved a way to insert yourself into a video game. Thus the term VRMMO-RPG. And among the myriad VRMMO-RPGs that assaulted the market, one of them stood head and shoulders above the others: Fraxinus Online. It was set in a vast universe where you could go on grand adventures, enlist yourself as a mercenary and make your mark on the battlefield, purchase a fully armed spaceship and engage in interstellar escort missions and the like. Fukasawa Hajime, a 30 year old player, was just average but his talent was always in the arts. Thus, he always designed the most beautiful guild layout ever seen. So one day, the game developers asked him to design a new raid boss for the upcoming expansion. Working diligently, Hajime creates a monster of a raid boss... except he designs it as a loli.
And one day, after falling asleep... he wakes up as the very same raid boss he designed. Kizuna Amun Ra. How will our protagonist cope with this twist of fate?
The story was interesting for a moment, the idea was comedic, and had some fan service. Maybe a little too much fan service with flat/2D support chapters that just cross in some bad territory, example: a new crew member gets brain washed/reprogrammed to be a lesbian to only have loyalty and s*xual attraction to the MC... woof...
So I dropped it, and went on my way, only to find that this story had copied, even so slightly, some starting parts of a whole other story called "I Woke up Piloting The Strongest Starship, So I Become A Space Mercenary", it's first chapter! The ship name, ship design/weapon ideas, the fight with some pirates and dialogue, it was so similar that I thought that maybe the fanfic tag should be included!! But it seems more like a copyright issue to me honestly.
Just... disappointing overall.

Love the novel so far. Seems that the world was inspired by Phantasy Star and The Legendary Mechanic from what I have read so far. The character design is awesome and their mech suits are reminiscent of Artery Gear / Infinite Stratos.

This story was an decent attempt at writing a space fantasy especially considering that the author has said that they aren't good at writing this genre. The beginning was similar to the beginning of "I Woke up Piloting The Strongest Starship, So I Become A Space Mercenary" though. I thought the casino planet was pretty well done but I had to drop right after because some brain washing came up that seems to be permanent. I just personally didn't like the direction that topic went.
Below is a small list on some things that I think would make the beginning better or more unique.
Some things that might make the beginning more unique and less similar to the beginning of "I Woke up Piloting The Strongest Starship, So I Become A Space Mercenary" would be:
Changing the ship weapon configuration
Have a military/mercenary patrol find and escort them to the station
Change the name of the mercenary guild
Have the guild test be a supervised pirate hunt or piloting gauntlet (the pirate base and attack could be found this way)
Make the protagonist take out a bigger class of ship during the attack (something that only the military is really equipped to take out)
