A tree that eats people.

And one that grows stronger over time due to a daily sign-in system and cultivation.

    1. This is not just one of my favourite wen novels I've ever read, it's one of my favourite series period. While the beginning of the story felt good, but nothing amazing, it only got better and better. What starts off as a generic cultivation system story with a non human MC slowly turns into a compelling story that slowly adds more and more characters you fall in love with. The author clearly finds his stride around the 80ish chapter mark (I think) and as experience accumulates and vision sharpens, his writing improves with each and every chapter.
    • Grammar is 5/5. As an English speaker and now having a few novels under his belt grammar is a non issue.
    • MC 4.5/5 My only critique of the MC is really some of the early chapters which is to be expected. I found him generic and dull at times. This all goes away as the writing improves and the story pace picks up. I like that he's neither a coward nor an edge lord with no compassion (two common tropes in isekai/cultivation). I think the line is towed perfectly between a MC who deals out satisfying revenge and punishments but still puts his allies above all else and shows mercy when needed. His powers are also worked for instead of given. He isn't an OP protagonist from the start nor is he given a cheat ability he can abuse from the start. It is a gradual process of building strength that comes with sacrifice. But is still fast paced enough to keep you in grosses in the story. A hard line to toe.
    • Plot is 4.5/5 Like the other points most of the negatives come from the early chapters that feel slow. I think the pacing really improves and picks up. There is also a clear end game for the story. Or at the least there's more to the story than isekai protagonist gets strong. Most of this hinted at in dreams and flash backs so far but it shows there's a plan.
    • There's also a good cast of other characters that get flushed out back stories and actually get character development and growth. An annoying cliche in cultivation stories is that the MC is the only character that matters. While the MC is obviously the most important, there are often times where he isn't even the strongest being in his own sect which is a refreshing take on this over done genre.
    • On of my few critiques is the at there's a severe lack of world building which is extremely common in cultivation stories. I am 250+ chapters into the story and I barely know what the world outside the immediate story is like. Are there countries? Or there demi human countries? How big is the world? Are there multiple continents? Cultivation is such a fascinating world and has endless potential to give a feeling of adventure and wonder to readers. Yet authors under utilize world building again and again. There is a world outside the sect author! Tell me about it

One of the best god damn non-human stories I've ever read and I've only read 8 damn chapters! I can't wait to read more, big fan here.

I hate non-human stories that make the MC so merciful or so attached to their humanity or for God's sake. Turn their non-human MC into a human!

Shame... he has now become a person trapped in a tree, completely opposite to how the story felt like in the previous  chapters. Hopefully the story doesn't keep going in this direction, as it takes away from what made this story special.

    Early review-

A simple but interesting story about a person being reborn as a tree and not a human trapped in the the body of a tree. (which I find is a big and important difference)

So read and enjoy the life of a sentient demonic tree!

What can I say, I just really like the synopsis and front cover.

The synopsis having been well written combined with the knowledge given also makes for a nice indicator of this novels future potential.

Edit: Read through the first 6 chapters and all I can say is SMOOTH. The flow and pace of the the story is smooth as hell, and honestly an absolute pleasure to read. Then there's also the fact that the authors writing was so excellent that it actually only took 6 chapters for me to get invested in a side character, 6! Like, really? How long has it been since I've last found a novel this engaging? Half a year maybe? Seriously, it's an actual blessing for me that this author decided to pick up the pen. Thank you god of novels for this gift.🙏

This novel so far has been such a joy to read, the pacing, the writing, the characters, everything molds together really nicely to make something that is truly unique.

Everyone should give this series at least 1 chapter.

Interesting characters with stereotypical yet fleshed out world and phenomenal writing and flow. This is a good one and it's staying in my library till its completed.

excellent. If you like tree of aeons, stories with some light litrpg elements, or don't mind time skips, this is the story for you.

I expected walls of text, over explanations and no showing, what I got was real emotion, and writing of actual quality.

    A very pleasant surprise.

Status: chapter 121: (interlude) lacking perspective

    Update: Author has blocked me.

The story is quite good, but the stereotypical xianxia setting drags it down a bit. Every non-stereotype predictably becomes a major side character. The early encounters were really quite entertaining. Sadly later on the main character shows how incredibly stupid he is by not learning from his previous mistakes and instead chooses the path of power as a way to cure his stupidity.

As for the choice of a tree as a main character, it makes sense in the story at least. Sadly the tree part is only used as a way to skip to the action and bypass physically growing. Still waiting for a story where the main character is largely a literal witness to the world before gaining enough strength to act in small degrees.

The world building is good in many regards and non existent in other regards. The most entertaining part of world building, finding out the different ways people live and different power structures, is sadly quashed by the Xianxia world.

As other reviews have said if you like Xianxia then you'll like this.

Really shouldn't write reviews when I'm tired. Gonna have to edit this one in the future. Unsure where I want to put it score wise either so a t (h) ree is where it shall be for now.
