Ashlock awoke in the courtyard of a demonic sect... as a tree.
A tree that eats people.
And one that grows stronger over time due to a daily sign-in system and cultivation.

One of the best god damn non-human stories I've ever read and I've only read 8 damn chapters! I can't wait to read more, big fan here.
I hate non-human stories that make the MC so merciful or so attached to their humanity or for God's sake. Turn their non-human MC into a human!

Shame... he has now become a person trapped in a tree, completely opposite to how the story felt like in the previous chapters. Hopefully the story doesn't keep going in this direction, as it takes away from what made this story special.
Early review-
A simple but interesting story about a person being reborn as a tree and not a human trapped in the the body of a tree. (which I find is a big and important difference)
So read and enjoy the life of a sentient demonic tree!

What can I say, I just really like the synopsis and front cover.
The synopsis having been well written combined with the knowledge given also makes for a nice indicator of this novels future potential.
Edit: Read through the first 6 chapters and all I can say is SMOOTH. The flow and pace of the the story is smooth as hell, and honestly an absolute pleasure to read. Then there's also the fact that the authors writing was so excellent that it actually only took 6 chapters for me to get invested in a side character, 6! Like, really? How long has it been since I've last found a novel this engaging? Half a year maybe? Seriously, it's an actual blessing for me that this author decided to pick up the pen. Thank you god of novels for this gift.?

Update 2: 1/5 stars. Can't change score if blocked.
Update: Author has blocked me.
The story is quite good, but the stereotypical xianxia setting drags it down a bit. Every non-stereotype predictably becomes a major side character. The early encounters were really quite entertaining. Sadly later on the main character shows how incredibly stupid he is by not learning from his previous mistakes and instead chooses the path of power as a way to cure his stupidity.
As for the choice of a tree as a main character, it makes sense in the story at least. Sadly the tree part is only used as a way to skip to the action and bypass physically growing. Still waiting for a story where the main character is largely a literal witness to the world before gaining enough strength to act in small degrees.
The world building is good in many regards and non existent in other regards. The most entertaining part of world building, finding out the different ways people live and different power structures, is sadly quashed by the Xianxia world.
As other reviews have said if you like Xianxia then you'll like this.
Really shouldn't write reviews when I'm tired. Gonna have to edit this one in the future. Unsure where I want to put it score wise either so a t (h) ree is where it shall be for now.

Everyone should give this series at least 1 chapter.

I expected walls of text, over explanations and no showing, what I got was real emotion, and writing of actual quality.
A very pleasant surprise.

If you are wondering whether you should read this or not, read the first 10-20 chapters, if you like it, you will probably like the rest of the book.
Only 29 chaps are out at this time but so far the novel 95% of the time follows the main character who reincarnated as a tree with a sign in system, at first it seems like a boring premise but the author manages to keep it "fresh" and interesting.
if you are just looking for something to read that wont dissapoint I recommend this book
