Skills initiated by monsters that can hold multiple purposes: offense, defense, status buffs/ailment cures, etc. Following The Reversion, most of these active skills were lost and become accessible through gaining levels.

Gacha

Refers to the virtualization of capsule-toy vending machines. Virtual currency is used in video games to roll for characters, items, etc. It is based on luck, with rates changing when the game implements increased percentage rates for appearances. In Puzzle and Dragons, there are multiple gacha machines -- the main one being the rare egg machine.

God Monsters

Some of the strongest monsters of Pirugan that hold the greatest potential for growth and evolution. The term "god" does not refer to being an actual deity, but is a portrayal of status. Many god monsters received their titles by accomplishing something important as a lesser monster, or was bestowed upon them by a higher, unknown power. The referenced pantheons are pulled from sacred tomes once held at Rhea-Themis Temple.

Lesser Monsters

Monsters viewed as fodder and/or foot soldiers among the stronger monsters and humans. These are the typical enemies Players are accustomed to from their typical RPGs (lizardmen, taur demons, slimes, etc.). These monsters do not hold any special status.

The Reversion

An event across Pirugan that reverted god monsters and other select monsters to their original states of power according to status. It is common knowledge that the reset of power was created and delayed with a pre-initiation by one of the Creators from Earth. Its intended purpose was for preparation of the Players' arrival.

Skyfall

A term used in match-three games when orbs fall from the unseen portion of a board and creates matches based on luck. The chance of extra matches can be increased by a skilled Player who prepares a number of orbs in advance.

Universal Code

A code derived from studies on Earth with all aspects of life. Implemented by Shinji Takamura within his own program that gave him access to Pirugan. It is still unclear as to whether this code brings about existence or has other properties that involve world control.

Location

Pirugan

The main continent of the virtual world. The locations are based on the original app game with many new ones added.

Sanctuary

The main headquarters of the Guardian Monsters. A series of interconnected plateaus and suspended platforms cradled by the southwestern section of the Sacred Mt. Bakkes. It has existed as the main stronghold since the time of the first god monsters, long before The Great War.

Tower of Departure

Hundreds of strange towers erected on the edges of Pirugan's borders. They act as first entry points for Players and provide brief tutorials. According to native scholars of Pirugan, the towers emerged simultaneously with the conclusion of an event known as the Reversion (refer to entry for more information). One theory is that the towers were built upon the stolen energy of the monsters affected by said event.

Characters

Christopher Alsheimer

CEO of World Virtual Visions and inventor of the virtual system used by Players to access Puzzle and Dragons World.

Founded his company at the age of twenty-four and went into collaboration with Thomas Malkin's Future Artificial Networking shortly after.

He is a member of what is known as The Big Three, due to his work with Shinji Takamura as well.

Ray Andylon

A gifted, but troubled young man who seeks an escape from his current reality. He applies for the LAN Beta test for Puzzle and Dragons World as his potential outlet.

His rank in the original game is considered rather low and is interpreted as a lack of experience to other Players. However, his intrinsic scans show potentials that reach beyond an average individual.

He almost immediately realizes how disturbingly real the supposed virtual world is when he arrives.

Shinji Takamura

Creator of the Universal Code derived from the real world and implemented through technology harboring his own personal program. He is the first denizen of Earth to traverse the Pirugan continent and converse with the god monsters. He gives the Universal Code to Pandora when unknown enemies discover his work and attack his main facility.

Thomas Malkin

CEO of Future Artificial Networking and one of The Big Three for his collaboration with the PADW project.

He is the creator of the artificial intelligence, Lo (Lady Overlook), charged with ensuring Player safety, game regulation and data collection.

He took Christopher Alsheimer of World Virtual Visions under his wing in order to help him succeed with his business ventures.

Guardian Monsters

One faction consisting mostly of god monsters vying for control of Pirugan's governance.
