Synopsis

Arnold was a strange child. Not the normal strange, he was too odd even for that. There was something wrong with him. No one could really tell until it was too late. He had become Morbid.

I never grow tired of this novel it's so damn gooooood! It's so very rare us readers find a story that captivated us to such an extent. I pray that it doesn't go to him becoming 100% like dexter- that tv show.... or becomes all killer in that the story goes full INTENSE with no room for comfort I like intensity but balance matters lol. The story is great. Wonderful characters, and plot keep up the tremendous work.

Loved the story great job on it only reason I don't give 5+stars is the added AU.

    Spoiler

With Kelly he'll never actually become his own person, it's that break-up that really started his journey to be himself and not just what a young girl shapes (forces) him into.

    [collapse]

Oh and to people that read the comments at the end of chapters, there is a ton of personal bias without considering all angles so please don't let it affect you and just focus on the story, it's woth it.

I want to start by praising the author for his excellent work ethic and continued quality of work despite its flaws, good job Bokuboy!

    (MINOR SPOILERS)

I indeed have a few 'icks' about this novel, along with the author's other works. The first 'ick' I have would be the forceful introduction of fantasy elements into what I would consider a perfectly fine plot without any fantasy. Seriously, not every story you make needs to be VR fantasy! IT'S BORING AND HAS BEEN DONE A MILLION TIMES OVER!

I would like to ask the author what in tarnation possessed him into thinking this story would benefit from VR elements, its a novel about a serial killer for god's sake, literally take one look at your tags "College/University, Cunning Protagonist, Evil Protagonist, Gamers, Handsome Male Lead, Kidnappings, Murders". If you had just steered this novel into conflicts with police and so on earlier in the book, and ditched the bullsh*t fantasy you could have had a truly unique novel on this site. Where in this book is the protagonist actually "cunning"  or "evil"???? I don't see it! Even if it does make its appearance, it's too late and the fantasy has diluted the story, ruining any form of conflict that arises and quite frankly turning the novel smutty fantasy slice of life instead of the cunning serial killer and his life while growing up. IT COULD OF BEEN SO MUCH MORE!

My advice for this author as an avid reader would be to stick to a unique premise, plan out the storyline and focus on the development of the plot and characters. (You have good stories so please don't waste them on slice-of-life, smut, fantasy crap). You want to stand out on this site? Then stop doing this cliche rubbish, STOP focusing on little conflicts with ex-boyfriends and sluts and instead focus on the psychological side of a literal serial killer who is your main character. Merely 10 chapters in and the main character killed his own dad!!!! You introduce us to Detective Tanner in Chapter 13 and then what???? Ignore all of it for over 50+ chapters until the point I had to stop reading due to loss of interest. You're telling me you introduce a detective early on in a LITERAL SERIAL KILLER (DISSECTING ANIMALS AS A CHILD) STORY and then just ignore her for the next bajillion chapters?!?!?

All in all, it's better than 95% of the rubbish on this site and is passable, not worth 5 stars but also not worth only 3 stars. I truly wish I could give this more however the inability to change and focus on a mature novel about a serial killer leaves me disappointed. I know the author may not have had the intention of a serious serial killer novel in the first place, but you could have had a serious trending contender on your hands had you gone out of your VR snuggle comfort zone.

I apologise for any contradictions or mistakes in my review as I only read as a hobby, I just thought I had to expel the thoughts in my head as I was left wanting more from the author, I am not going to continue reading this novel as the damage has been dealt through the introduction of VR, no amount of backtracking or steering the focus towards the serial killing part of the novel will fix this. I will still give a solid 4 as it manages to outshine 95% of the novels on this site

The quality of the writing and characters is great. But the story has went downhill in my opinion with its treatment of Kelly. I've skimmed ahead (ch 197) and the treatment of her hasn't improved.

    Spoiler

To start with everything is constantly conspiring against Arnold and her. First her parent's personal delusions of Arnold, then the attack on Arnold's house. With both of those despite her own wishes she gets to spend very little time with Arnold. So with her being a virgin and Arnold leaving the s*x decision entirely up to her it takes her a while for her to work up the courage and for things to go anywhere. Which is understandable given Arnold is rather passive, she's inexperienced with the decision left to her and everything is conspiring against them spending time together.

So when they finally try to have s*x and run into problems with a burst blood vessel when her hymen breaks and she needs stitches and s*x is put on hold again. She sees it as her own body betraying her and as her failing Arnold and their relationship. Arnold sees it as him injuring her and dumps her to protect her because of a small physical injury that literally anyone else with a penis would have probably caused (he's a 7 incher not a monster), he abandons her and causes way more emotional damage than there was physical damage. He, this supposed biology prodigy sees them as physically incompatible and himself permanently harmful to her, when most other men would be the same or possibly worse. It's not actually a big deal at all beyond needing to take things slow and be careful for a bit after she heals. The doctor literally tells them this

So after losing her best friend by sticking with Arnold, largely alienating her parents by sticking with Arnold, and basically planning to sneak away to college with Arnold (practically running away from home with Arnold), looking after Arnolds mom when she was going through losing the house and sticking with her... Arnold one sidedly abandons her at the drop of a hat with no discussion. That is infinitely worse emotionally than the damage caused during their s*x attempt.

I skipped ahead to where Kelly was trying to give Arnold a blowjob to be part of his group of girls and share him. That's a bit weird but their reactions to her trying too hard and choking on his cum is once again terrible. They are upset with her because she made Arnold hurt her again (her choking). Choking is literally nothing on a scale of things hurting, there's going to be some problems with learning anything and that's all that is. Once again the treatment of Kelly is far more emotionally damaging than physically. And nobody cares.

    [collapse]

Kelly is this really sweet and soft gal who is getting emotionally raked over the coals again and again and again. And everyone, especially Arnold, just treats it like it's fine because of some convoluted nonsense about not physically causing her the slightest harm.

If Kelly and Arnold realized that being exclusive wasn't going to work that would be one thing. I largely like Pam and Janet. But totally f*cking over the nicest character in your story and mentally treating her like sh*t is not cool.

I really enjoyed this a lot.  There was a lot of uncertainty at the beginning about Arnold and whether or not he was doing or going to do terrible things or get caught.

There is a lot of suspense and buildup and even the parts where what is happening isn't explicitly explained, you can still tell what's going on, which I am impressed with.

I like that not all the relationships were casual and some got very intimate, and the author didn't take the cheap and generic way out and make everything perfect for everyone perpetually.

There is a lot of drama, and suspense, some good action, and a lot of s*x.   This book is really great.    I only wish the author would finish it and tie up the last few loose ends.

(such as the detective, the insurance guy, Amy and Cissily, plus the outcome of the college stuff).

Overall, I liked it a lot and there were a lot of great characters.   I didn't expect to like Doris as much as I did, and Arnold's mother is great.  I even like the side characters.

Also the whole "kissing bandit" thing is STILL funny every time.

I wished it pissed me off more.

Now that may be a weird way to start a review but I find it to be true at least for me. It's been on hiatus for a while now and if only it pissed me off enough or messed up something then I could set it down and stop thinking about it but it didn't. It's a diamond, not a rough gem or a uncut diamond no it's a near flawless diamond cut by a master Craftsman.

it only pisses you off at some places because of the story makes you care about the characters and like in life sometimes people get a raw deal though it doesn't do it enough to be annoying and don't worry they make a come back just in a different way. It's very refreshing, at least for me. It feels real. All the characters develop in interesting ways especially the main character Arnold which all I will say is he develops, thinks and acts more or less how a computer would develop with some humanity sprinkled here and there yet he still somehow stays relatable.

The human interaction with everyone stays pretty realistic/plausible which means cringy at times especially when it's with Arnold but that's life. The writing quality is excellent and no point I felt it was jarring or skipped around too much. The 18 plus scenes felt like a tool the story used rather than focal point and I find it blends well.

I don't really have much else to say if you're thinking about reading it give it a shot if you enjoy it I suggest donating some money on PayPal. Lol hopefully bribe him to finish the story. If I have to I would literally scrape up money to commission chapters and do everything within my power see it get the popularity it deserves. Though I have a good feeling he'll come back he seemed to be pretty active in the comments and generally it seemed like he enjoyed writing it.

Thanks anyone who decided to read this poorly written and structured review.

It remembers me a lot of Hannibal Lecter. I like it. But do no t. worry for the ones that know Hannibal I'm only  talking about the protagonist. Well he's not killing or eating people... yet

There are few series that have cause me to lose sleep. This is one of them.

My fascination with Arnold and the lives he affects both positively and negatively have been a joy of mine over the past week. Watching this morbid child grow into a cunning and wickedly intelligent man is something I enjoyed and will sorely miss unless updates (however unlikely) come.

The stories flow was gentle yet shifted into roaring rapids when necessary and the characters depth always surprised me with the nuance the author afforded. These are characters I will not forget for quite some time. Whether it be Super mom Annie, the Bulwark friends that are Janet and Pam, the venomous Cissily, or even the idiotic detective Tanner.

I cannot recommend this story for fear of what it may do to your sleep schedule like it did my own. You will be sucked into chapter after chapter until you become morbid yourself.
