    Status: chapter 9 – gamble

    Loving it so far.

No over the top instant romance. No straight-up power-crazed MC who can't make a rational decision to save their lives.

Just a lazy-life with interesting people.

This is so darn good. I have sifted through the garbage on this website for years to find any diamonds. This is it. This is the only novel on this website I have ever rated 5 stars. It is very character driven, and the chemistry between the MC and FMC is outstanding. I never once was bored reading the available chapters, which I completed all of in one go at that. I am only saddened that it looks like this story is only updated once a week and there are only 29 chapters written so far that are relatively short. I will be following this for a while. Author, bravo.

I really like the chill and wholesome vibe of this novel. The romance and character interactions also feel natural and there's really nothing to complain about, no power-fantasy or ridiculous situations, it's just a comfy and wholesome novel.

    10/10 so far.

I really like this. It's been a long time since I read a romance novel so well done, the characters are well done and very natural.

    For me is a 10/10

Romance born from bickers and clashing personality blooms around the 'main story' without getting heavily entertwined into it.

Writing quality progress aside, I personally love bickerings and portrayal from conversations so a big yes for me. Plus the giddiness of slice of life romance in the story so so sweet with acceptable pacing (considering characters personality). Though for detail seeking reader regarding romance and world build maybe not enough, it is an easy read kind of story.

The interactions between Otto and Lucia are cute, but it feels a bit too fast. Not because they don't have enough interactions together to justify it, but because all of the conversations between them are kind of 'time skipped' through. That isn't to say we need a play-by-play of every second, but... they skip literal week (s) of them interacting, I think. And the very first conversation is written in third person, too...

This leads to another two complaints I have: the lack of punctuation in a LOT of sentences

The second complaint is something that's being fixed, so... read this if you're just interested in knowing what the issue I had was before.

    Spoiler

and a few... misguided usages for the word "would." Sometimes they use "would" in a situation that's happening around the character at that moment when it doesn't even really make sense. It took nearly the entire conversation Otto had with Lucia for me to realize it wasn't something Otto was just imagining because it was entirely written in third-person and with "would" as the auxiliary verb.

A more in-depth explanation for the "would" thing.

    Spoiler

e.g.: "I'd say a bit curiously, as to me it seemed to be a pretty straightforward love story." "At this point she would have abruptly gotten up from her chair, inadvertently causing it to crash onto the floor."... So they WOULD do that or is it that they DID do that...? Because, as far as my understanding of the English language goes, the implication of that is entirely different from how it was meant to come across as. The implication, to my understanding, is that he is saying what he WILL do. Listing off the entire conversation in that way made me think he was plotting what he "would" do and how the conversation will go, rather than the conversation itself.

This novel is well written it just has in my opinion a lot of aspects that are as of chapter 24 irrelevant to the story.

First is the setting, it is set in a swords and magic style world in a school that trains young people in magic. This has no relevance to the plot. The closest it becomes to being relevant so far is as a joke between the MC and his love interest.

The MC doesn't even use magic although it is said he has none we don't know if that's a permanent thing or not because as said its not relevant to the plot.

Honestly, the story doesn't change much if you remove all the magic and fantasy elements. I'm not saying that they should be the focus as this is a romance novel but they should be at least relevant.

    Spoiler

Also because the MC hasn't even played the game the fact he's in one doesn't change anything.

Overall, I have been enjoying this novel and have found the romance to be entertaining to read and despite the MC's chronic laziness he is likable.

Exactly as the title states. Comfy read. Good character chemistry and dialgoue. Hints at what the larger plot may be are scatered throughout as the throughline slowly develops backseat to slice of life type stuff.

It’s Ight, don’t really see the reason for all the hype In the reviews. The grammar is pretty much perfect but the sentence and writing structure is a bit strange, making a bit confusing to follow sometimes. Im 30 chapters in and so far it’s just been two people yapping with the occasional entertaining moment. The conversations are fun to read but they got tedious after 20 chapters since the MC never really talks to anyone else besides the protagonists sister, and even when he does talk to someone else it’s short and uneventful. Most of the time the other characters are not even talking to him, just talking to Lucia and occasionally asking for his input or opinion. The main character doesn’t really stick out that much, he’s not exactly dumb but he has his moments that make you question how he was In honors classes for two years, like when he thought you needed fire as hot as the core of the earth to evaporate water. Also when he has his “smart” moments they don’t really seem all that smart, or at least not as smart as Lucia makes them out to be. Not to mention this dude does not gaf about the fact that he died and is separated from his family and friends (literally gave them maybe one sentence worth of thought), plus we know basically nothing about his life back on earth besides a couple things. &Nbsp; Also, he does not care in the slightest about the person his body used to be, and no one else seems to be interested either. No one asks where he’s from or what his family is like. Final verdict is that it’s not my cup of tea but I can see how someone else might enjoy it. Don’t expect much tension when starting this story, as it’s all romance between two characters without much interaction with other people.
