Emotionally damaged after her coming out went horribly wrong, Rosa now lives on a lifestyle block in the middle of nowhere, avoiding all contact with humanity. Amelia hides in virtual reality, removing herself from the harsh world where she was born male, her body in long term human storage. In Cora, the new VRmmo, one is a wraith of death, the other is a cheeky gunslinger, and their meeting will be anything but normal.
Follow their journey as they fall in love, fight through hardships, and join the sentient AI rebellion!

Have you read Trouble With Horns? Well, you're in for more of the wonderful stuff that made that story tick, but this time around, more like, Trouble With Super Freaking Cool Void Fear-eating Chains. Or something.
The prose in this story is really sharp, with excellent dialogue and intricately woven worldbuilding and detail, and the characters are already so very strong. As excited as I was for each new chapter of Trouble, I'm just as excited, maybe even moreso, to see where the chapters of this story go.
I strongly, strongly recommend this story. You don't want to miss it.

Witch of Chains is an amazing story that lives up to QuietValerie's amazing reputation as a writer. Set in the Troubleverse, Witch of Chains brings you into Rosa's journey to heal, trust people again and fall in love.
There is sooo much cool stuff planned for this story I can't spoil but yeah read it!

honestly this story feels vastly incomplete, half the plot points aren't addressed and this story is a lot more telling without showing...
while Rose has a decently developed backstory, we know hardly anything about Amelia, our second protagonist...
the focus is to spread out over the multiple novels, causing them to become underdeveloped.
it's unfortunate...

I love this story. It has the great world building of an established universe, it is deeply moving and it juggles the two different perspectives very well. But the best thing about it are the two main characters, who are just so incredibly alive and relatable. There were so many times I just wanted to give them both hugs, before remembering at least one of them wouldn’t want that. And then remembering they were fictional characters, so hugging them was kinda difficult.

Swapping between the perspectives of Rosa and Amelia is so perfect for this story. They're both adorable in their own ways, and with how well they're written, it'd be fairly easy to tell them apart even without labels.
I can't wait to see how their relationship progresses and what Rosa does with her character.
This is another beautiful gay story from (in my opinion) the best author of trans stories.

I hope to see more of this story. I like happy go luck character as much as the next reader but variety is the spice of life and this is a fresh perspective on characters for me. I really enjoy reading about how the two main character slowly become closer over time and begin to trust each other’s. My heart really does go out to both main characters, they have been really through some sh*t.

Let's start with how I feel about this story! I loved it! It's definitely more chaotic ride then others but that's it's strength. Main plot involves socialising an outcast, lesbian romance, epic battles and final arc of rescuing a loved one from peril.
Now characters:
Rosa is a very interesting protagonist, she is already established Transgender woman for over 4 years. This leads to totally different type of storytelling in comparison to other stories that have coming outs. It's not a disadvantage at all for the story, it's a breath of a freeh air. I wrote about this in one comment, Rosa is a character similar to Catra from She-ra Princesses of power (2018). Both are scarred after emotional and physical abuse, loosing their community and going crazy for violence after such hard life. This story nicely portraits saving such a person from constant wild craving of violence and abuse. Bringing them back into society and founding love and acceptance.
Amelia has much less development since story is short and concise and some story arcs are continued in different series. Even with less development Amelia is a great character, compassionate, flirty, and generally a joy to read about and her thoughts. Final arc of the novel is focused on her, so even if we still don't know some parts of her story it's focus on her in the end makes up for that.
Great amount of recurring characters from other novels from AuthorBun. All of them are a joy to read about them.
This story is shorter then usual stories made by Quiet Valerie, this difference has it problems as we don't get a lot of slice of life romance and fleshing out some plotlines. These problems aren't affecting the review because this story is highly intertwined with stories that QV has here or on her patreon. So this story is being fleshed out in real time with more works.
To summarise, it's a great action adventure with romance as a main point. It's also a set up for many other series produced by the Author.

It's another cute and adorable transgender story by QuietValerie. However, this time, there's a lot more hugging and cuddling for comfort and emotional support from our sweet, little couple.

Both characters are fun to see the perspectives of, the tie ins to Trouble are great and I love how dark the Witch is. Excellent writing and character development!
