Freshly turned eighteen, John Newman, a helpless nerd, suddenly gets video game abilities granted to him. A mysterious higher power, a secret Abyss of magic beneath the surface of the normal world, mages, martial artists, eroticism, tragedy and a harem of hot girls awaits.
It went down the drain quite fast: I kind of quit when suddently the MC was given a bj out of nowhere, in a very awkward writting...
First, let's be realistic, this is 100% inspired from "The Gamer", and this is not just a novel with a "gamer system", it's closer to a fanfiction than an original story. You will have the same story with the "Abyss", and same looking secondary characters, and this is fine, it could have been well done and I wouldn't mind it, I love fanfictions.
But MC is reaaaaallllyyyy weak willed and not likable at all: I'll be frank, he's kind of braindead. MC's has no self preservation and talks of his abilities to the first girl he talks to the same day he discovered them, worse, he spends most of this thoughs thinking of s*x with any random girls he sees, he's not horny, he's sick, and finally and this is the most important, all of this is written in a very awkward and inexperienced way. I don't mind lemon and s*x scene like in Villain: The Play of Destiny or The Young Master in the Shadows, but here Author makes everything quite awkward...
So, don't fully trust the positive reviews, and read the comments at chapters 12 and 13 first. Now, if you're looking for a below average japanese-like MC, worried more about his libido than his "gamer" abilities and don't mind awkward written s*xual content, then eureka, you've found it!

I came looking for a decent story with smut. When there was no smut in the real early chapters I stayed for the humour. Great in love with it due to the detailed character development.
Rave and John. Just finished reading chapter 55.

The first volume is made up of 4 arcs.
Arc 1 is joining Collide. Arc 2 is learning about the Abyss. Arc 3 is Bloodfallen. Arc 4 is Thana.
John Newman is an American highschooler who gains abilities that work similar to video games. His health is turned into hit points, and his body behaves like a game avatar. Should Newman take damage, his hit points decrease, but his body does not retain any physical or magical damage.
The story of Volume 1 is messy, yet dark. Newman learns about many evil events that happen in the Abyss, but he always seems disconnected to his new life. When given the choice of joining a major European power or a minor American power, he chose Collide. Eventually, he will be forced to join a different European power, making this choice mostly useless.
Each arc that involves named characters tend to have a lot of those characters die. There is little reason to get attached to characters, so their deaths do not feel impactful.
I started reading Collide Gamer to see if this story improved over The Gamer by Sung Sang-Young, and the short summary is the author including s*x scenes can be thought as an improvement. The erotic chapters add some enjoyment to this darker version of The Gamer, though I am reluctant to continue reading.
Most of my enjoyment was from reading the erotic s*x chapters. Everything else, such as the story, the side characters, the setting, and the magic abilities, were not as interesting as seeing how arousing the next erotic chapter could be.
If future readers want an engaging story with interesting characters and enjoyable arcs, then I recommend skipping this one. If future readers just want some longer plot before getting to the s*x, then I maybe recommend trying this story.

Giving it five stars, because it is just that good, love the writing style and characters.
However, a major hangup (major spoilers) :
Honestly do not get arc where Thana kidnaps mc's girlfriend.
Girlfriend is in pain, being tortured as far as MC knows, what does he do? Cheat on her, multiple times with diffrent women. (It is cheating because it goes against the rules MC and GF agreed on) And take it easy on grinding after like half a day of effort.
It is so strange to me, and makes him so much worse than all the actually villainous MC's on this site.
I hope at least the part where Thana says she is going to torture the girlfriend gets removed, it is uneccisary and ruins my interest in reading the lovey-dovey stuff in the arc.

So first off the concept and idea are both solid much like the gamer webtoon, but this one is spicy and does diverse from what that is, I was surprised the characters are so well rounded and have their own personalities albeit a bit too emotional sometimes but it doesn't go to far out of the norm, and he does encounter much higher level characters then he should but that's the author's discretion all in all, I kinda liked it and recommend it but it's simply not my cup of tea

Read lots of his work on Chyna. While the quality has improved over the years. It's nice having the author go back and enhance the quality. This is one of the best litrpg books I've seen to date. I put this in the erotic category of azarinth healer if that's anything to go by.
