Qellsala only cared to live a simple life, in the vast, deep ocean she called home, hunting, raising her two children, and defending her territory when necessary. Like all mierne living in the depths, she tended to avoid the calamities of the surface world, where war between two continents had been waged for the last decade.
But food was becoming scarce, and her people had become hunted, valued for their siren song, armoured bodies, and unmatched speed and strength in the water. They were used as beasts of war. When the hunger of her children forces Qellsala closer to the shallower, surface waters in search of food, she becomes tangled up in the war of the land dwellers and wants nothing more than to return to her children. But no one can hide from the fight forever, and war comes with terrible consequences. And sometimes, it's the innocents and neutral parties who end up paying the steepest price. Follow her journey as Qellsala learns the cost of war and just how pricey her freedom might become.
