OK, so I'm kind of late to this story. But I enjoyed myself immensely.

The MC is a generally down to earth young woman (mid to late 20s) that suddenly gets tossed into another world. I feel that the way she gets a grip on her situation and learns the System of this new world is realistic as far as the setting goes. She's not perfect. She makes mistakes. And things go haywire and overboard often. But she learns. She's determined. And she gets the job done.  I'd like to think I'd have made most of the same choices if I was in her shoes, err, skin.

Then we find out she has one of the cutest and most badass sidekicks since R2D2. Everyone needs a Lulu the Loofa. Imho the real MC of the story ;-)

The author set up a grand story, in the spirit of classics like The Wheel of Time, The Belgarion, Riftwar etc. With a diverse cast of characters that seem to all have been plucked from our Earth (and the USA) from roughly the same timeline. Except for a spoiler character we meet near the end.

All the other Worldwalkers, as the Isekai'd characters are known, get time to shine. While the main focus is on Morgan (and Lulu), the rest doesn't feel like an afterthought. And they all bring unique elements to the story.

Stories like this, that manage to make me laugh one chapter, feel sad or angry or disgusted the next are the best kinds of stories. It means the author is able to fully drag you into their world.

I'm looking forward to reading the next book.

I mean, Morgan is wearing NOTHING but the sky..... and a sentient lace puffball scrubby. For those of you who want confirmation that Skyclad is worth the read, let me be simple.

    - It is.

    - Why the hell are you still here?

-Oh, a wiseguy, eh? You want me to point out what makes it worth your time? Well then, sit down, shut up and let me tell you why YOU are going to read it.

Now, there are SOOOOO many things wrong with a story where the MC gets her powers from being nude, but I just can't bring myself to care about any of them. Skyclad just might be the first of it's kind, and I reccomend you read it before a few knockoffs come around and spoil the experience.

    Story:

The image of an iron, soap-filled bathtub falling out of the sky and crushing an entire nest of [Giant Eagle Chicks] will forever be imprinted in my mind. And that's only the second chapter. Storywise, the beginning has SOME similarities to Randidly, but is better done. So, far, its been both a very good serious story and a barrel of laughs.

While we have Morgan (and her lace scrubby) tromping through one of the largest, and most dangerous forests in the world, the singular side chapter has given much appreciated perspective as to events happening about the world. I was also quite satisfied with the System, as it provided an interesting read in itself for both casuals and number crunchers. On another note, the usual 'Class Selection' was handled in a VERY unique and satisfying way. Kudos to that. (I'd like to see some other stories try and rip that off).

So far, there is a picture painted of a grim world, where humans aren't exactly on the top of the food chain. While limited so far, the monster selection and naming has been good. Tyrannorabbits and Electric eel hydras, anyone? Pass me the charred Shadowlands Lynx, if you would.

    Style:

Ah, now we get to this. I usually don't have much to say about Styles, but this one more than gets the job done. It doesn't just vividly paint pictures in your mind, the author's use of wry humor at the right moments injects some lightheartedness and humor into other wise grim situations. The prose and wording flows smoothly, giving you a delectable read.

    Grammar:

Nothing so here, people, move along. Yes, yes, its perfectly done, I assure you. Take it up with my lawyers if you want to disagree.

    Characters:

So far, a cast of three. Well, more or less the MC, her lace scrubby, and Rella, a side character. But, even with those small numbers, it is surpringly strong. The characters make an impression from their very first meetings with the reader, and only build from there. They're people, they screw up, they do things. They aren't paper cutouts, devices to advance the plot or souless machine moving from one stain to the next, eager to obliterate it. (Well, maybe Lulu. But hey, isn't that the purpose of it's life?).

The point is, the characters are great. So, UNLIKE Randidler, the MC isn't an introverted sociopath. Yay. We can actually cheer for Morgan here. And maybe imagine ogling her too. Just for lulz. Before she hands our asses to us.

    Conclusion:

A good idea transformed into a great story. I don't know why this isn't Top 100 YET, but it deserves that spot. Keep on trucking.

This book has many good things going for it. Engaging world and interesting characters.

Its biggest problem is the expectations it sets up. Reading the description, tags and first chapters you are expecting a book about a transported person that needs to somehow make it in a LitRPG world and you do get that for roughly 1/3 of the book.

Then it moves on to become a book about a massive cast with ~10 main characters as important as the first one. The LitRPG gets removed from the writing (but is still there driving the world). So the book switched direction as the author realizes what it wants to portray. I wanted to read more of the first 1/3 and less of the last 2/3.

I will not be continuing on to book 2 since the direction change was on purpose. Especially the LitRPG things will probably be edited out further in the published version, that is the direction the author wants to pick and I wish him/her luck!

I genuinely liked this a lot at the start. While I think it has lost a lot of the charm and interest around Chapter 40 compared to the beginning.

I do think that the thing that has kind of made the story lose a lot of its appeal is the need of adding Otherworlds as the story calls them. I tend to prefer a story where it is just the MC or at most two people being isekaied. This story has tons of them. We will get an entire chapter of just a POV of one of the Otherworlders and they tend to be quite appealing.

I don't think I really like any of the characters introduced that are Otherworlders. Some characters that are from the planet aren't bad like the oracle or the girl who lost her limb. But the Otherworlders just aren't that interesting. Such as Diana, I feel her story should be interesting but I find myself just completely uninterested.

The Lufa is the best character by far.

I do find myself kind of wanting to see the MC return to Earth though. Especially with all her OP powers. I find it a bit sad she can't return. But I also want to see her return and go around completely baffling people with her newfound athleticism.

The picture of the world depicted in this story is grim with multiple supporting protagonists and antagonists having their point of view shown. It is not dark enough to be considered a "Dark" fantasy, but more so a somewhat "realistic" Fantasy world where morals are challenged, a World System that defines the world itself, and those whom adhere, challenge, or break the rules of the world. This review is going to be as objective as possible (it cannot be 100% objective, but I will try my best).

    The Review

    • Story: 4/5
The story paints a picture of a fantasy world where everything a world should have is placed into it. The good and the bad of the world is revealed without much fanfare, and anything worse is just shoved right into the main character's face with no warnings. From the style of writing, I believe this is a fantasy that has combined several themes of Tolkien's expansiveness, a LitRPG's System (in a unique way), as well as this dream-like quality due to the mysteries behind the world.
    -------------------
    • Settings: 4.5/5
The settings of the story is well implemented and described, with the flora and fauna within the region where the main protagonist resides in. In fact, this is possibly one of the best ones I have seen on ScribbleHub (This Review only compares and contrasts lightly in ScribbleHub, not any other source of fiction). World-building descriptiveness isn't really that deep, but the settings themselves and the way it is done expresses a story of fantasy, mystery, survival, and the faces of good, evil, and everything else in between.

    -------------------

    • Character (MC) : 1.5/5
The Main Character... oh boy. This is going to be a doozy. The character herself is very interesting; having to be au naturel for the most part. This does not detract from characterization and is quite unique even among stories that have a nature-aligned protagonist that has a wild heart and a soaring with the freedoms of nature itself. This is not the problem with the main character.
    -
The problem with the main character is that she has been written in an inconsistent manner.
    -
The reason for this is because of how the character is depicted and developed throughout the story. At first the character is completely out of her depth, having fallen into another world while in the nude; having the focus on survival while pretty much freaking out. She makes many mistakes and is temporarily locked into a path, but that is resolved (somewhat) as she gets her first Class Change.
    -
Her sequence in which she gets her Class is a reflection upon one's self, making it a unique look into the depth and heart of the main character before and reaffirming the main character's resolve and direction to get her Class.
    -
The problem lies here: The MC's personality and behaviour is completely off the rails. She gets whiny and miserable during some conversations that don't really go her way - which was after her Class Change. Then she is all whimsical and flirty after meeting up with others. Then she bland and a bit dull during some random parts. Then she gets all happy and cuddly in other areas (no, not the parts with the lacy, scrubby, adorable slime, those are understandable and fine).
    -
This is as if the author is attempting to make the MC ideal as possible while trying to keep the realism level intact. There is too much going on and the MC is just not consistent.
    -
The development the MC had been set in reverse, then it bounced all over the place. Trying to understand the main character is rather infuriating and this really brings down the story's flow and the development of the plot.
    -
For the Supporting Characters (Main) to be more realistic and more consistent than the original MC herself is a 1-Way-Street to causing immersion to cut into pieces and fed to an angry duck.
    -------------------
    • Character (Support) : 4/5
As mentioned in the previous section, much of supporting cast that are relevant to the story's main plot are all very well done and interesting. <The Oracle> is, by far, the best depiction of what a main character should be: a consistent developing character, evolving traits, and a personality that does not conflict with her development. The others in the cast are also more intriguing to learn about: each and every character has a different personality trait that sets them apart from the others. The main thing about them is that they all are fairly consistent with their behaviour and characteristics, which already sets them up for further development.
    -------------------
    • Meta: 4/5
There is no outstanding sentence structure, punctuation, nor grammatical errors that would hinder the flow and immersion of the story. Like many other stories, there were definitely some sentences that could have been rewritten to remove their awkwardness, but nothing here makes reading difficult or awkward.
    -------------------
    • Overall: 3.6/5
Not bad at all. If the MC was written a bit better, the entirety of the book would have come together more easily. I do not have any major complaints about the story, plot, and settings, just some minor nitpicks here and there. Those are more of a personal opinion sprinkled in with some objectivity, but nothing that is immersion-breaking and difficult to read. The only issue is the inconsistency of the main character's development and how she interacts in different situations. She either has no set personality to begin with, or her actions just don't match how she is written.
    -
Other than that, everything else about Skyclad is a well-meshed, well-written story.

Great story and relateable characters. You can see the struggle each character has to go through and smile when they triumph. RPG elements are handled in a great unique way, especially class selections. Even though the otherworlders have OP powers they still struggle to survive. 5/5 would probably reread once I get caught up.

Best thing on this site if you don't mind imagining the main character naked the whole time. I don't care for some of the other characters that the story focuses on other than The Broken but when it gets back to Morgan I forget all about them and bathe in the glory of the mighty Lulu!
