Synopsis

On the surface the young emperor reigns while in the shadows the ministers are in actual control. An empire whose history spans five centuries now begins to crumble as the generals whose purpose is to protect the peace begin to fight each other instead. Underneath the surface one ambitious man gathers the citizens who feel oppressed by the heavy taxation, food shortages, and threats of war. A rebellion begins to stir and soon, a rain of chaos shall begin.

In the midst of it all an orphan boy gets a second chance at life. Although, his life is not his own as it is inhabited by a video game developer. The same developer who has helped shape this world. Little did either of them know that their lives would never be the same.

Extremely disappointing. A very interesting start with promising character developments and plot-crafting that is sadly abandoned for manufactured drama and mystery.

Rather than slow but steady worldbuilding we have a hundred dangling plot threads/conversations that either never get picked back up or are shoehorned in messily later on. Additionally, many chapters end on abrupt scene cuts that are designed to keep the reader in the dark rather than properly showcase character dialogue and machinations. Only that most of this has zero payoffs or rather when everything does come to light it feels artificial and unearned.

    Greatly Disappointed.

The initial plot had good merits but there are just a lot of inconsistencies and the MC is simply not likeable or rational at all.

We start with him wanting to leave the city and join up with another genera, Victoria

He doesn't even when he has the chance and money. But instead of moving on from that decision, he keeps fixating on it like someone with OCD. Stockpiling food and weapons in the city. Business expansions, etc

He says leveling up reduces experience points gained and he should train

He immediately levels up when he is safe at the church, not when he was fighting life and death mind you. Then after recovering doesn't train for a long time. Why? Because he is buried in paperwork, a dumb excuse if I have ever heard and also remember, he wants to leave the city. Why drown himself in paperwork. He doesn't want to attach himself with other

Goes ahead and gets the women he "saved" as maids. Keeps getting involved in multiple plots by his own choice. The church is another example. The knights are another example. The defense of the city another example. Kidnapping his fiance's mother is another example. The list goes on. He has money and influence and was almost killed but doesn't hire trained guards, mages, doctors, etc. Also the guy who wanted to kill him is no longer a factor when he has one guard left. He keeps comparing the world to a game while at the same time says it's different yet always plays by game rules and lore which doesn't make sense.

All in all I found the MC dumb and stupid with a severe case of OCD, autism, narcissism, and ADHD. Sweeping these flaws in the MC as character development or learning opportunities that will be addressed in the future makes little sense since the underlying issues here are major flaws that a rational person wouldn't make in the MC's position.

Also, no where does the MC learn lessons. He was almost implicated in a murder plot but later that is not addressed with MC learning nothing.
