Chapter 6 - "Because you were never a father to begin with."

"Why, am I not allowed here?" I raised a brow and looked at her. I saw a figure standing alone and peeking. For some odd reason, I knew that it was that smirking girl. I felt irritated once again just thinking about her.

"You know what? Never mind." She was about to fight back but just sighed, did something happen? I unconsciously started peaking out the corner when she suddenly walked away.

"Wait, where are you going?" I said out of nowhere. She looked at me with a defeated face.

"Out."

"Out the mall?" I asked

"Where else, genius?" She started getting annoyed for some reason, I almost laughed out loud because of her face. She was furrowing her brows and slightly pouting. I looked back at the corner again and saw a familiar girl laughing with a guy. My mood suddenly went down. I felt irritated once again.

'Is he the reason?' The reason why she looks defeated?' I snapped out of it.

'What am I thinking? They all irritate me.' I just shrugged it off. When I turned my head again, I tried looking for Yvonne. It felt weird, maybe because I'm bored? I had a sudden urge to follow her but I pushed it down.

Nova and I felt defeated when we went back home, I was extra irritated as well because I wasted time. I wanted to eat so I walked towards the dining room to get to the kitchen. This middle-aged woman stood in my way towards the kitchen and frowned.

"Why are you here?" There were maids preparing the dining table, three of them to be exact.

"To eat, obviously?" I said. It's the dining room, of course. What else do you want me to do? Take a bath here?

"Why?" Is it so weird to eat? Why was she even questioning why I entered the dining room?

"And why do I have to answer to you?" that was when I remembered that she was the woman who would glare at me every now and then. Unlike the other maids who at the least, respected Yvonne Belle. This old woman openly talks sh*t about her, and when Yvonne does fight back, she goes straight to the father and starts telling him how the miss mistreats her.

"The two masters are about to dine." She glared back at me. I almost opened my mouth in disbelief. Sure, the other maids hated Yvonne because of her attitude, but they still pitied her to some extent.

"So?" I asked her. This old hag is starting to piss me off. First, I encountered Mr. English man and ruined an opportunity, second, Lucas appeared behind me instead of appearing behind Natalie, now this maid? I didn't want to further ruin my mood but this is putting me on the edge.

"So!? You're not allowed to dine with them of course." She started frowning as if she saw me as a nuisance. The other two maids who were with her stood still, they didn't know what to do.

"And who told you that?" She's honestly getting on my nerves.

"What do you mean? It's always been that way." She smirked as if to ridicule me.

"Ah, yes. It has been." As if the old woman thought that I was stupid, she just scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"Indeed, you've always been stupid." I nodded my head and smiled.

"Excuse me!?" Her eyes went round and she shouted at me.

"Oh, you're excused." I went out of her way and passed by her to get to the kitchen.

"Did you just call me stupid?!"

"Unless you're a retard." Do I really have to reply to her?

"I'm not done talking to you, little b*tch-" She grabbed my hand and tried to forcefully turn me towards her.

*SLAP*

"You really must be a retard, huh? Do you own this house?" I gave her a big hard slap which seems to snap her out of her anger.

"As far as I know, you're a maid hired to do her job and follow orders." I smiled in a menacing manner and looked at her straight in the eye. I stepped closer to her and continued.

"Do that one more time, and I'll make sure you won't make even a penny for the rest of your life." It's ridiculous! Do they expect me to wait for them to finish so I could eat? Yvonne Belle must have suffered a lot from those two *ssholes.

I turned my body and sat on the chair. I turned my head and glared at the maids. "Are you just going to stand there? Get me a serving." After what I said, the two maids quickly ran towards the kitchen. The old maid turned around and banged the door before her.

*sigh* My initial intention was just to grab food and eat inside the room, but because of that encounter, I decided to eat here. I didn't know that their relationship was this bad to the point that she can't even eat in the same room. I looked at the empty chairs in front of me with a plain face. 'Just like then.' It reminded me of my life as Seon Demi.

While Demi was thinking to herself, the two maids who were putting the food in front of her saw her state. Their faces turned sullen. The two of them were newly hired, they already heard gossips and rumors about the little miss of the mansion. They were prejudiced, and the more they saw the miss' face, the worse they felt. Thus, they chose to stay inside and serve her instead of leaving her behind.

'I'm sorry.' Nova came out from my hair and leaned on my face. He was trying to hug me but his hands were still too small so it looked like a big cotton ball was stuck on my face.

'It's okay, it was the past now, and this is Yvonne's family.' I reassured him that I wasn't hurt and picked up the utensils. I need to satiate my hunger. I continued eating the steak and finished my food quickly. I enjoyed it at the least.

Before I even finished drinking the water, I heard the door of the dining room open.

"Explain what you just did!" Who would have thought! Of course, the two men are here. Behind them was the middle-aged woman from earlier. 'Look who tattletale like five-year-old' I said to myself. I just ate the last piece of meat and finished my food.

"Explain what?" Demi didn't even bother to look at them and drank water.

"The disrespectful action you just did!" He walked near me and continued.

"Are you a child? Throwing tantrums everywhere and shouting at the maids?" He was firm with his judgment that Yvonne threw a tantrum and was causing a ruckus.

"Ah, so that's what she said." Demi nodded slowly and wiped her mouth with the napkin.

"To think that you'd cause a ruckus once again!" They didn't stop there, the older brother also spoke as if he expected this.

"You only lasted a few weeks, you're not a child anymore to ask for attention." I'm not a violent type of person, but my urge to punch him in the face is strong.

"You're not even listening. I did not teach you to be rude and disrespectful."

"Just adopt her then." I stood up and pushed the chair back. "Since you believe her so much." I walked past them and the maid who wore a beaten expression. 'A+ for acting'.

"This disgraceful- Remember that I am your father!" Yvonne's father turn around towards the door and shouted. He was angry as well as confused at the way her daughter was acting, it was natural for her to shout at maids, but it's not natural for her to ignore them like this. By this time, she would've retorted back and threw a child-like tantrum and said that it wasn't her fault even if it was.

With a sigh and a fed-up expression, Demi turned around looked him dead in the eye. "Just to set records straight you never taught me sh*t, so don't demand respect from me as your daughter, because you were never a father to begin with." Demi turned around and left at once. The day always get sh*tier when the two men are at home, it causes her a headache and it pisses her off to the point that she mentally gets tired. Demi didn't want to try and "fix" Yvonne's relationship with her family. Yvonne from the original novel already tried her best.

Trying to prove herself to her father, and trying to catch the attention of her "genius" brother that's out of her reach. 'Who gives a f*ck anyway? I'd be gone after graduation.' Demi thought to herself. After following the plot and being on the sidelines, she planned to detach from Yvonne's family completely. Nova approved, he knew that there were far more better candidates and leads that Nova created, he thought that it was also a toxic environment not only for him but for Demi as well. If he wanted to get the best energy orbs, he needs the best leads and candidates.

"You really slapped them on the face!" Nova shouted right after they got inside the room. He was ecstatic because of the scene that unfolded earlier. He thought that it was 'cool'. Demi just smiled, she was still pissed off, but Nova made things better. To change the subject, Demi focused on Nova and his progress so far.

'You're getting bigger and cuter!' She said as she played with the small fur ball. He became much fluffier and bigger now. He's as big as her palm and he grew little arms. 'You're becoming more and more like a little chick.' She said.

'I feel a lot better, I can touch things now and hold them.' That was why he started residing on Demi's shoulder and would hide behind her hair when he's troubled. 'I bet you'll become cuter when we collect more.' she said. Demi was imagining how cute he would become. 'We need more spiritual orbs!' Demi got inspired and fired up, 'We'll focus on getting Nova orbs so he can get cuter!' Alongside earning more money and living in luxury, her goal to collect orbs to "upgrade" Nova became important.

Whilst the two were already over the confrontation from earlier, the people in the dining room were frozen in place when they left, specifically Victor. He frowned and glared at the door where Yvonne was. He never imagined that she would do that, and to their father as well! He was already in a state of confusion and anger when the encounter in the kitchen happened, but this ticked him off even more. 'What's her problem?' He didn't even know why he was ticked off, he would normally ignore it and compensate the maid.

"Oh sir, it's alright! I'll still stay here and take care of the young miss, she must have some troubles recently, I know that she isn't a bad person." The old maid sobbed and wiped her tears as if pitying Yvonne.

"There's no need for you to apologize Mrs. Beth, that uneducated daughter of mine is at fault. Please, try and take a day off and rest." Michael said dismissed the old maid. He didn't want to ruin the lunch, thus, he sat on his usual seat and ordered the two maids to serve them the food.

"That sister of yours is getting worse by the day." Michael looked at his son with a frown. He was shocked at the current happenings inside the house, particularly her young est child. She was used to her voice calling him everyday and trying to strike up a conversation. It wasn't until a few months ago that this started. She doesn't call for him everyday and say her greetings anymore, she doesn't call him endearingly anymore, she doesn't throw tantrums at the maids everyday, she doesn't cause ruckus in school every week like she used to anymore. Michael was thankful because of the peace and quiet. So when the head maid ran towards them earlier, he thought that 'she didn't last' and returned to her child-like manners once again.

He went to the dining room and scolded her expecting that she would get angry, tell him that it's the maid's fault, and slowly look down on the ground to say her sorry angrily. But that wasn't the case, and Michael, as well as his son Victor were frozen in place. She continued to finish her food without paying as much as a glance towards them, stood up, even told them to "adopt" the maid, and left.

*Don't demand respect from me as your daughter, because you were never a father to begin with.* This sentence echoed inside his mind, he was angry because of the way she talked and disrespected him, while on the other hand, Victor became confused. He was angry at first, but it quickly settled down as he started asking questions inside his head.
