Later that night, Courtney, Beth, Yolanda, Rick, and Henry, infiltrated the base of the ISA. They used the entrance that Beth found at their school. They followed the winding corridors until they reached a lab. This was the lab of a member of the ISA, Dragon King. They looked around to search for Brainwave.
The group infiltrated the base of the ISA as the new JSA, they wore their suits in order to hide their identity. Courtney as Stargirl, Yolanda as Wildcat, Beth and Doctor Mid-Nite, and Rick as Hourman. Their mission to infiltrate the base was to locate Brainwave and the machine Icicle was building. However, during their search, they stumbled into the Dragon King’s Lab.
When they reached the lab, they alerted Dragon King to their presence. They had to fight the Dragon King and his drones before they could continue their search. It took quite some time for them to defeat the Dragon King and his drones, but they were able to defeat them eventually, but they did not come out of the battle unscathed. However, the fight gave the ISA enough time for Brainwave to recover his memories.
During the fight between the JSA, and the Dragon King and his drones, Brainwave was strapped to a machine by Icicle. Icicle hoped to bring back Brainwave’s memories because he was the most crucial piece to initiate their plan. Without his telepathic abilities, their plan could not be achieved. Fortunately, the machine worked and Brainwave regained his memory. He then recalled the identity of Stargirl.
Noticing the commotion in the Dragon King’s Lab, Brainwave left to go see the situation. When he entered the room, he found the Dragon King and his drones, on the ground and unconscious and the young heroes were beaten and bruised. They may have won the battle but they did not win unscathed. When he saw the heroes, he used his telekinetic abilities to send the objects in the room flying at them. He also sent them flying with his telekinesis.
Seeing that there was zero chance of victory, Courtney signaled for them to leave and fight another day. They found a new escape route since the original was blocked by Brainwave. Just as they were about to leave, Brainwave intended to bring the ceiling down on top of them. When they reached the exit, Brainwave had caught up with them and asks his son Henry to join him. Henry refused his father’s offer saying that Icicle killed his mother, and he wanted revenge for her death.
Brainwave cleared matters with his son saying that Icicle did not kill his mother, he did. “Henry, Jordan did not kill your mother, I did. I had to make a choice son, now it is your turn to make a choice. Will you stand with me?” Henry was shocked and furious. He was furious because he just found out that his own father killed his mother. With this new piece of information, Henry declared to his father “I would rather die than stand with you”.
Seeing how his son rejected his offer, Brainwave decided to grant him his wish “So be it” and let him die. Brainwave collapses the tunnel over his own son. Courtney and her friends could do nothing to help Henry as they watch the ceiling of the tunnel fall on top of their friend because he sealed himself with his father in order to give his friends time to escape, "Yolanda, I’m sorry for what happened, I know nothing could make up for it. Courtney, I guess you were right, there is still some good left in people. You even saw it in someone like me. Don’t ever change. I guess this is goodbye." They left the ISA base and returned home depressed. They had just made a new friend that could help them defeat the ISA and he died right in front of their eyes. He sacrificed his life to save them.
Unbeknownst to Courtney and her friends, their entire escapade was witnessed by Carter and Eddie. When Carter casted his spells on Henry, He made sure to be able to see and hear Henry’s surroundings. While they were in their room, Carter created a magic screen to see what the group of teenagers were doing. To his and Eddie’s surprise, the group planned to infiltrate the villain’s lair. The pair were able to see and hear everything that Henry experiences. "Infiltrating the villain's lair. That's really bold."
The pair felt sorry for Henry. The boy just learned that his own father killed, his mother, and since he did not agree to join his father. They were impressed by his conviction that he would rather help his friends stop his father than join the man. However, Eddie wanted to help the group of young heroes, but Carter would not allow it. He stated, “They must overcome adversity on their own, or how else would they learn and grow.” But Carter told Eddie that he would step in if the situation got out of hand. The situation did get out of hand as Brainwave tried to bury his own son by collapsing the ceiling of the tunnel.
Just as the rubble was going to crush Henry, Carter created a breach below Henry and pulled him to safety. When he saved Henry, he made sure that neither the JSA nor the ISA saw him do it. He did not want either faction looking for them and Henry. When Carter opened the breach to save Henry, he made sure that Henry would land in the bed in their room. When Henry landed on the bed, the moment he landed, he lost consciousness. Eddie looked at Carter “you saved him?!” Carter looked back at Eddie “Well I couldn’t just let him die now, can I? We need his help. Plus, I’m not just going to watch a kid die, what am I a monster?”
Seeing Henry arriving safe and sound, Carter proceeded to heal him. After the healing process ended, Carter told Eddie that the boy needs to rest. Eddie was relieved to find out that the boy was fine because Carter did not allow him to help the group during their mission. Eddie asked Carter whether or not they should tell Henry’s friends that he is still alive. Carter disagreed saying “It’s Henry’s decision. This isn’t our fight. But if he wants us to help, then we’ll help. This might be the only way to get his cooperation in the war.”
Since they need Henry’s help for the Holy Grail War, Carter told Eddie, that Henry needs to make that decision. They needed to show the boy their sincerity. If Henry wants them to help the JSA in this fight, then the pair will lend a hand. But until Henry wakes up, they will continue searching for the other master.
The following day, Henry still had not woken up. Carter and Eddie kept up their search for the other master. Eddie was passing by the garage when he overheard two people talking. One of them was saying that they needed to remove the JSA so that no one would interfere with their plan. Eddie looked around the place and found a hidden garage. Inside he found a large white robot and two people were fighting in front of it. From that distance, he could hear their conversation. "Sorry about this Pat. Wish there was another way."
The owner of the garage, Pat Dugan was being beaten up by the new friend he had just met, Crusher. During the fight, Crusher revealed himself to be part of the ISA. He is an enforcer of the ISA. The JSA knew him better by his villain moniker, Sportsmaster. Seeing how Pat was being beaten by Sportsmaster, Eddie could not help himself but save Pat. He came running and punched Sportsmaster. The sheer momentum sent the man flying and hitting his head against the wall. Seeing as how Pat was safe, Eddie left the man to his own devices, because he heard them talking, that Pat was going into hiding with his family and robot.
