Crisis struck the world.

Every conceivable challenge showed up one after another with no relent, made worse by the flames of insurrection.

Those more concerned with environmental ideas pointed at Organisms of the Old Age (O.O.A.) as the main detonant to blame for the upturning of the world order. Ice thousands of years old melted due to global warming, releasing viruses, bacterias, and other microorganisms that had been sleeping, and would have continued to sleep unbothered otherwise. A new age of pandemics brought about quick and painful deaths upon humanity.

Those more concerned with international relationships pointed at the various armed conflicts polluting the world with death, terror, and oppression. Borders were contested, groups of people were dehumanized to justify invasion, old resentments made a comeback bannered by the youth, vindictive ideals that blamed innocents for the sins of their predecessors, greed masked as righteousness. A third World War shook the world.

A trigger was pulled at some point and nuclear terrorism ensured nothing would remain the same. In a sloppy rush to find the perpetrators of such heinous acts, countries around the world called for war a fourth time.

Which came first is ultimately irrelevant when looking back at history.

In 2099 a body of matter from outer space made contact on an undisclosed location in Antartica. The few who cared to go and search for it found a new energy source to exploit within it. The details have been redacted so many times it's a fool's errand to try and unearth the true events that took place.

In 2105 a private company that had been under the radar up to that point gained worldwide renown within the energy industry: K&A New Binuclear Energy, seeing massive profits and slowly climbing the ladder of net worth until, in 2132, they had become the largest energy-related company in the world. It's energy was accessible, safe, environmentally friendly, and long-lasting (with their first product, similar to a AAA battery, lasting an average of 3 years of continuous usage for a 4.5v, 0.5W device).

After a successful beginning in early 2118, however, K&A New Binuclear Energy began the construction of an artificial island away from all potential conflict that could arise in the future. Busy with their own challenges, the countries of the world made the mistake of ignoring K&A New Binuclear Energy and its activities since similar companies, countries, and groups of all kinds had tried to remove themselves far away from continental territory but failed throughout the years.

K&A New Binuclear Energy succeeded in its separation, however, pulling off the monumental task of building a city that could float around in the pacific ocean in the year 2135 and its official foundation later in 2155.

Thus, the city-state of Kanbe came to be. Harsh entry policies and fifteen years of political confrontations with weakened foreign powers later, Kanbe adopted a counsil centered around the company as its government organization, allowing for representatives of those who came later to take part in the political scene that developed in that period, albeit keeping a bigger slice of the pie when it came to decision-making.

A century has passed, and Kanbe refuses to repeat the mistakes that brought the world to ruin.

The year is 2255. Kanbe's ports are closed and the world outside is slowly but surely decaying.

That's the uninteresting part so far, though.

My name is Valentina Trinidad Esperanza Leon Guerrero, and this is the story of how I found Heaven. The haze of reckless youth vanished in the most unexpected fashion imaginable, pushing me to make decisions to ensure my future and sanity, as well as keeping those dear to me safe.
