In a dimly lit room, Augustus, a crown prince, is subjected to a nightmarish ordeal at the hands of the sadistic Ryker, the enemy kingdom's crown prince.
Bound and humiliated, Augustus faces an agonizing struggle between defiance and submission.
Ryker, reveling in his control, pushes Augustus to the brink of surrender, blurring the lines between pleasure and despair.
Amidst the aftermath, Ryker offers Augustus a dark choice-endure the torment or sacrifice his dignity to save face for his kingdom.
In a moment of desperation, Augustus reluctantly accepts Ryker's deal. Alone and abandoned, Augustus confronts the encroaching darkness, trapped in a cycle of torment and despair that seems unending.
The room echoes with his pleas, unheard and ignored, as he grapples with the harsh reality of his captivity.
Veiled Machinations takes you straight into the deep end of a deeply abusive but intriguing relationship that slowly flowers out into more complex intrigue and world-building. Ryker really does put Augustus through hell, tittering on the brink between pure heaven and excruciating hell on nothing but his own personal whims, regularly recruiting others to pre-take in his confidence demolition of Augustus. Although not typically my jam, I would say that anyone who enjoys boys love, domination and world-building, with an immediate focus on intense smut will enjoy this piece. It was well written, with few if any common mistakes and paced appropriately for such a piece.
It is unfortunate that novels like these need to come with a pre-warning of "I don't endorse what these characters do" but those are the times we live in at the moment. Any reasonable person would assume that the author is not endorsing this, but there we go. Read the warning, see what you think of the premise and indulge should it fancy you, the quality is not in question here, only if it suits your taste.
